Minerals and petroleum lobbies are not taxpayers (but guess who subsidises them?) – Michael West Media

Morrison has no interest in hard Economics and Murdoch media certainly don’t pay attention to the harsh realities. Between them they have reduced politics to Culture wars. Currently Transgender children in Sport is Morrison’s issue when not a single transgender person has won a medal in the Olympics. Or any child run away with all the medals up for grabs, ruined any sporting event, or is in danger of doing so. However, as always Morrison loves fuelling politicizing bigotry and steering away from the material and econimic realities of our  world. He believes  in holding onto the minority of racists, ethnic, religious, cultural, and anti-welfare bigots and to have them put on their pillow-case hoods and swing his way even if he doesn’t help their hip pockets. Fuelling emotions is a distraction from economic reality mismanaged.

It’s a phenomenon more commonly attributed to ”banana republics”. Our government is helping the resources lobby even as it works against the interests of the nation and the planet. Stephanie Tran examines the influence of energy lobby giants as they intensify efforts to delay Australia’s embrace of clean energy.

Saudi-Russia Collusion Is Driving Up Gas Prices, Worsening Ukraine Crisis

Mohammed bin Salman (r), Saudi Crown Prince and Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, at the G20 summit in Buenos Aires, 2018.

When Trump abandoned the Kurds in Syria he actually helped cement Russian influence in the Middle East along with Israel’s. Simply follow the money and the damage he caused and it becomes obvious that he was Russia’s puppet starting a war with China. Henot only divided America but the Western world.

Moscow’s partnership with Saudi Arabia has grown dramatically in recent years, granting the two largest oil producers in the world the unprecedented ability to collude in oil export decisions. The desert kingdom’s relationship with the U.S. has chilled in the meantime, as demonstrated earlier this month, when President Joe Biden pleaded with the Saudis to increase oil production — a move that would not only have helped to alleviate rising inflation and gas prices, but also reduced Russia’s extravagant profits amid its aggression against Ukraine. The Saudi king declined.

Stop Pretending the Left Is on Putin’s Side

Peter Dutton and Scott Morrison slag Albo off as a red under the bed, Yet, the ALP don’t cozy up to Murdoch’s global propaganda empire which is currently Russia’s State Media in America. They’re the biggest platform and supportive voice for Putin and his lover DJ Trump in the U.S. Murdoch isn’t the ALP’s PR agent in Australia and hasn’r invested vast amounts of money with them as they have L-NP  in Australia. Has anyone noticed Scott Morrison banned 25 Russians from coming here but is spending some part of a $680 Mill  advertising war chest with Russian supporter Murdoch Media?

Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is based on obviously reactionary pretexts. The Left has nothing to do with his agenda — and should make no apologies for opposing a US military response.

both GOP’s de facto leader, Donald Trump, and their de facto party agenda-setter, Tucker Carlson, have been out there making their love and support of Putin known. As with every internal conflict in the GOP, the smart bet is the Trumpian wing will win over the traditional conservatives, even though it once again means that Republicans will be siding against America and democracy in favor of the forces of authoritarianism.

8. What is Putin really after? Not just keeping Ukraine out of Nato, because Nato itself isn’t Putin’s biggest worry. After all, Hungary and Poland are Nato members but are governed in ways that resemble Russia more than western democracies. Putin’s real fear is liberal democracy, which poses a direct threat to authoritarian “strongmen” like him (just as it did to Donald Trump). Putin wants to keep liberal democracy far away from Russia. Putin’s means of keeping western liberal democracy at bay isn’t just to invade Ukraine, of course. It’s also to stoke division inside the west by fueling racist nationalism in western Europe and the United States. In this, Trump and Trumpism continue to be Putin’s most important ally.

Here’s How Trump’s Russia “Hoax” Led to Death and Destruction in Ukraine – Mother Jones

Trump’s double-cross of the Kurds in the Middle East his attack on China and his ability to divide America provided Russia and Putin with a massive right wing opportunity to wedge the Western world  and start a war in Europe.

Putin had helped bring about a regime change in the most powerful nation of the world, installing in office an utterly inexperienced fellow who had been heaping praise on the corrupt Russian autocrat for years. What a victory! On election night 2016, an employee of Russia’s Internet Research Agency, which had been a key part of the Kremlin operation, sent a message reporting that cyber operatives there “uncorked a tiny bottle of champagne” when they found out Trump had won and “uttered almost in unison: ‘We made America great.’” At a celebration in Moscow, Dmitry Drobnitsky, a writer for pro-Kremlin outlets, exclaimed, “This is the real reset of the Western world.”

The Albanese approach: How an unpopular plan has Labor on the verge of victory

We are not ashamed to admit that at our last meeting with the Labor strategist, we were unconvinced that this slow, steady and largely uneventful approach by Labor would reap rewards. It has also sometimes been unpopular with their base. But if it is true that opposition parties don’t win elections but governments lose them and since, more than ever before, Australia’s establishment media fails to hold this Government to account, Labor’s strategy appears sound. Of course, whether it succeeds in unseating the Morrison Government remains to be seen.

Financial abuse costs Australia over $10 billion

Financial abuse

the L-NP, Morrison and Frydenberg, have allowed Australia to slide down the Heritage Foundation’s International corruption ladder to its lowest ever recorded score of 77.7 from 13th to 18th and going down. Any wonder they are terrified of an independent ICAC.

“Little is discussed about financial abuse in Australian society,” Deloitte behavioural economist Wing Hsieh told AAP. “The challenges of domestic and family violence have been very much at the forefront of people’s minds and particularly so in recent years.” But the specific financial abuse that often leads up to it, while related, is often not discussed. More than 400,000 women and about 200,000 men suffer financial abuse, and the cumulative impact of people being prevented from working themselves and those who later need support from government and social services costs the economy and individuals experiencing abuse more than $10 billion a year.

trump ingraham invasion 2/23/22

Murdoch has become the new Russian State Media in America. As Putin physically trolls into the Ukraine Fox News turns to Putin’s Manchurian Candidate, Donald J Trump, to praise him while mocking Ukraine Predident and Biden rather than addressing any facts. They are revising and trying to obliterate Ukraine’s history. What is more they shamelessly promoting Russia and making American citizens pay for the largest cable propaganda organization in the country. Pay via government subsidies and not just those who subscribe to them. Yes, Murdoch’s Carlson Ingraham and other anchors all give Donald J Trump time despite the fact he left the White House with highly confidential records and shredded others. Records if she or anyone else had taken,or found  in their possession would have been charged with treason, and tried behind closed doors. Fox News is the new RT and Pravda in America.

Fox is so busy trying to blame President Joe Biden for the war and its consequences that they’re skipping right over telling their audience how said war is happening. Fox cannot be trusted with the news. In just the recent past, we’ve seen the network embrace COVID/vaccine lies, election lies, and now propaganda in the place of covering war. Even worse, we’re all paying for this – literally. Fox is overwhelmingly funded by cable subscription fees paid by millions of Americans who never watch Fox. And while cable companies can, for now, foist that cost on the American people, they can at least spare us the bullshit of putting Fox in their news category. That’s perhaps the biggest lie of them all.

Is It Amnesia or Hypocrisy That Fuels the GOP’s Crazy Response to Putin? – Mother Jones

In recent days, as Putin has threatened a conflagration, top conservatives and GOP officials have practically pinned “I’m-with-Vlad buttons” onto their lapels. One example: Mike Pompeo, Trump’s final secretary of state and before that his CIA director, had only praise for the corrupt Russian autocrat, describing him as “talented” and “savvy.” Donald Trump, speaking to a conservative podcaster on Tuesday, hailed Putin’s moves in Ukraine as “genius.” Referring to Putin’s invasion of eastern Ukraine, Trump said, “Putin declares a big portion of…of Ukraine. Putin declares it as independent. Oh, that’s wonderful…I said, ‘How smart is that?’ And he’s gonna go in and be a peacekeeper…Here’s a guy who’s very savvy.” Later in the interview, Trump continued to gush: “I knew Putin very well. I got along with him great. He liked me. I liked him. I mean, you know, he’s a tough cookie, got a lot of the great charm and a lot of pride. But the way he—and he loves his country, you know? He loves his country.”

Former Trump Adviser Steve Bannon Backs ‘Anti-Woke’ Vladimir Putin

Steve Bannon Vladimir Putin anti-woke LGBTQ Russia

Leninist and advisor to Trump is solely intent on tearing down America’s political and bureaucratic institutions the foundation on which the great 450-year American experiment of Democracy was built. Bannon is no Marxist or Socialist who believe in a greater and common good, but only in creating chaos for the purpose of oligarchic and complete totalitarian rule. Needless to say he like Trump loves Putin. If either he or Trump did what they are doing inAmerica in Russian Putinania they’d be assassinated or sitting in a Gulag like Putin’s opposition Navalny. Yes, American Democracy is flawed in so many ways it’s what allows these maggots the freedom but spends  millions hunting down Julian Assange.

Steve Bannon, former advisor to ex-President Donald Trump, said Americans should support “anti-woke” Russian President Vladimir Putin because of Putin’s long history of anti-LGBTQ politics. Bannon praised Putin several hours before the Russian leader launched an invasion of Ukraine. His commendation followed accolades for Putin from Trump and other conservatives. “Putin ain’t woke. He is anti-woke,” Bannon said to private military contractor Erik Prince during the Wednesday broadcast of War Room, Bannon’s show on Real America’s Voice, a right-leaning media network.

With Putin’s Ukraine Incursion, Hawks in Washington Got Exactly What They Wanted

Unfortunately, it sounds like the White House has now decided Putin’s incursion, whether it ends up “limited” or something even more dangerous, means diplomacy is now off the table. Whatever the explanation for Western obstinacy, it’s ordinary Ukrainians who will suffer, along with everyone else who feels the conflict’s ripple effects, among them the Congressional push to flood Ukraine with weapons where they will unavoidably get in the hands of neo-Nazis and other extremists. Putin is ultimately responsible for whatever horror he unleashes. But save some outrage for those Western governments and officials who chose to make war inevitable by refusing to compromise, sacrificing a country they regard as little more than a chess piece.

More than a year after he left office, Donald Trump continues to be obsessed with his loss to President Joe Biden, pushing the lie that the election was rigged against him. And on Wednesday night, the former president’s delusions were on full display on Fox News, when he traced Russian leader Vladimir Putin’s decision to invade Ukraine back to the 2020 presidential election. Advertisement “He sees the weakness and stupidity of this administration,” Trump said of the Russian president. “As an American, I am angry and saddened. It happened because of a rigged election.” Trump doesn’t seem all that sad. He couldn’t help but express admiration for Putin in a speech Wednesday at Mar-a-Lago, saying, “I mean, he’s taking over a country for $2 worth of sanctions. I’d say that’s pretty smart.” Trump also said that “never in a million years” would such an invasion have happened during his presidency. He couldn’t help but boast of Putin, “I know him very well.” His comments Wednesday are similar to ones he made in a radio interview Tuesday, when he again called the Russian leader “smart.”

Federal election 2022: Clive Palmer political ads on social media create ‘democratic dilemma’, experts say

Clive Palmer is spending tens of millions of dollars on political advertising for his United Australia Party.

Big difference between the money spent by Clive Palmer and the total number of independents offering a diverse range of options on social media is huge. Palmer a single billionaire gorilla is allowed to drown out an election, and Morrison isn’t saying anything about the new L-NP-UAP Party.

Rules around political advertising remain in the pre-internet era, experts say, raising a “democratic dilemma” as Clive Palmer’s United Australia Party (UAP) blankets social media, newspapers and television with ads. Political communication experts say the sheer volume of ads, particularly those that are hyper-targeted on social media with little transparency, creates too much noise for voters.

We know politicians lie – but do we care?

We know politicians lie – but do we care?

At a broader level, a functional democracy depends on common appreciation of basic facts. Yes, we can debate how to respond to climate change, but the genuine debate is only possible if we first accept the evidence that the climate is changing. If truth is seen as unattainable, anything goes. And if politicians ultimately do and say whatever they want, why bother engaging with politics at all?

As we have also seen recently, in times of crisis, mutual trust between government and the public produces greater compliance and better outcomes for everyone. Lies poison this trust. From this perspective, then, we should not accept lying politicians, and the media is well advised to hold our elected representatives to account. And if our Australian study is anything to go by, how our politicians deal with truth may end up affecting voters at the ballot box in May.

Australian Bureau of Statistics report on Covid deaths misrepresented by rightwing media | Australian Bureau of Statistics | The Guardian

A medical worker in the Royal Melbourne hospital intensive care unit

Fake News, Murdoch Media and 2GB create it, and sell it with no consideration of the Facts.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics last week released a new report on Covid mortality in Australia. The data is important – it exposes the inequality in how the pandemic is affecting Australians, with deaths higher among people from lower socioeconomic areas, and shockingly high death rates for people born outside Australia. Experts told Guardian Australia a key reason for this is Australia’s reliance on migrants to undertake essential, insecure work and a failure of government to engage migrant communities early in pandemic planning. These are issues rarely heard about from politicians and some media outlets during the pandemic, despite the trends being clear since at least August 2020.

However, rightwing radio hosts and columnists saw something different in the figures – support for an ongoing narrative that lockdowns and other interventions represented an “overreaction” or were the result of a “scare campaign”.

Mainstream media blames unions for Perrottet’s train lockout

The Perrottet Government’s shutdown of the NSW rail network was mislabeled a ‘train strike’ by a compliant mainstream media, writes Dr Jennifer Wilson.

ON MONDAY 21 FEBRUARY, trains in the Sydney network were cancelled by the NSW Government, causing chaos and fury amongst the millions of people dependent on the services to get them to where they needed to be. The situation was described, inaccurately, by Sydney Morning Herald editor Bevan Shields as a ‘Sydney train strike’.

Government advised to accept ‘sunk’ NBN costs

Remember the LNP and the “no interference in the “free market”. Now they expect us to pay for their mistakes. It’s called a INDIRECT SNEAK TAX don’t you think?

The Government has ordered NBN Co to recoup all of those losses through the subscription prices to the users. In the end, the NBN users are paying for party politicking that has been taking place over the last decade.

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) chairman Rod Sims has mentioned during a recent Senate Inquiry that it would be “bad economics” to seek to recover “every last dollar spent” on the rollout of the National Broadband Network.

He clarified:

“Obviously, the NBN was built by the Government and now that it’s built, I think it’s appropriate to treat its costs as sunk — what matters for Australia is getting the best use out of the NBN.”

Pauline Hanson v the gas giants: who would have thought? – Michael West Media

Pauline Hanson

Elections bring on desperate changes and sometimes common sense is an accidental outcome.

So, if you want action against major gas companies controlling Australian politicians, a red-hot climate denier may still be worth some attention.

Hanson went so far as to propose a government-owned enterprise instead of paying private companies to do the same job. “If we’re going to pay $2.3 billion to secure Australia’s fuel supply, the government should buy the Brisbane refinery in Lytton and let it become an asset owned by the Commonwealth.” Hanson continually references Norway’s Sovereign Health Fund having “struck the right chord for its citizens, earning $1.5 trillion from its commodities.” “Australia, on the other hand, last year took a measly $300 million in direct payments for $50 billion worth of gas off the North West Shelf” while “the tiny nation of Qatar has a different approach. It receives around $26 billion in royalties on the gas it exports.” Qatar trades slightly less gas and hydrocarbon products than Australia.

Why Putin’s Denial of Ukrainian Statehood and Israel’s Denial of Palestinian Statehood are Crimes against History

(Informed Comment) – In his incendiary speech on Ukraine on Monday, Vladimir Putin alleged that Ukraine does not really exist, that it is an artificial construct of the Communist period, crafted by Vladimir Lenin. He declared, “Ukraine never had a tradition of genuine statehood.” When I heard that, it reminded me of the Israeli propaganda line that there has never in history been a Palestine. Denying a people their right to national sovereignty today by arguing that they lacked it in the past thus seems to be a typical move of expansionist states like Russia and Israel, bent on dominating their neighbors.

Ukraine-Russia: Vladimir Putin can strike back after being hit by sanctions

The West needs to tread carefully with its sanctions on Russia.

The wishful thinking has begun. Core Europe is already persuading itself that Vladimir Putin will be sated with Donetsk and Luhansk, allowing European companies to keep selling Gucci bags and BMWs to Russia in exchange for commodities – after a stern lecture on international law, of course. The US, UK, and Poland have reached the opposite conclusion, strongly suspecting that the military occupation of the Donbas is the springboard for a full invasion of Ukraine.

At the end of his government, in the federal election of March 1983, Malcolm Fraser was so desperate to land a blow on the surging campaign of Opposition Leader Bob Hawke that he tried to fire up all the scares at once. And Hawke humiliated him by dismissing them all at once. When Fraser told a rally that “people would be better off keeping their money under the bed” if Labor won, Hawke snarked back: “But you can’t put your money under the bed… that’s where the commies are.” Anthony Albanese could learn from that. An opponent who’s being desperate and ridiculous can be easily be made to look… desperate and ridiculous.

Paul Bongiorno: Hardball politics exposes a defenceless scare campaign

Scott Morrion's China rhetoric

Morrison is a powerless parrot barking and  has made Australia a standing joke in front of 1.3B Chinese people but to the rest of the world. After all, he and the LNP leased the port of Darwin to China and proudly signed CHAFTA delivering a speech of absolute praise. We knew of China’s complaints back then about the Murdoch Press. They were clear and valid but do we actually know what Morrison’s complaints about China are today? They seem to be what Morrison says his bestie in 2019 XI is doing in 2022. Xi seems to be watching, telling Morrison to get a grip and calm down. Bring back China Sam Dastyari knows!!

Scott Morrison’s ramping up of a scare campaign against Labor’s Anthony Albanese has shone a laser-like focus on just how defenceless Australia is against any military threat China might pose. To listen to the Prime Minister, you would think it is in Australia’s power to force an explanation from China about an alleged laser attack on a RAAF surveillance aircraft in the Arafura Sea to our immediate north on Thursday. Three days later, Beijing has rejected Australia’s claims, demanding Canberra stop its “groundless accusations” against them.

Morrison was quick to jump into the fray this morning, as the NSW government attempted to point the finger at the Rail, Tram and Bus Union for network suspensions that, it soon became apparent, the state government itself had ordered following a breakdown in negotiations. Reports soon began to emerge that it was the government agency, Transport for NSW, that had called off services at around midnight last night, throwing morning commutes into chaos, while union reps made it clear that workers had shown up for their shifts, many in the early hours of the morning. (The best justification the premier could offer for the aggressive shutdown was that it wouldn’t have been “safe” to run the trains.) But that didn’t stop the PM weighing in, echoing several of the outrageous comments made by Coalition figures throughout the day

Opinion | George Conway: The beginning of the end for Trump? – The Washington Post

Former President Donald Trump speaks to supporters during a rally at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Oct. 9, 2021.

On Thursday, a judge in New York ordered Trump, along with his daughter Ivanka and his son Donald Jr., to testify within 21 days at civil depositions in the New York attorney general’s investigation of potential fraud at the Trump Organization. The judge’s opinion brutally rejected Trump’s arguments for blocking the depositions: It would have been “blatant dereliction of duty” for the attorney general not to take the testimony, the judge explained, because prosecutors have unearthed “copious evidence of possible financial fraud” in Trump’s business. That evidence includes a letter that might turn out to be, as a practical matter, the biggest blow Trump has ever suffered, even bigger than his six corporate bankruptcies and two presidential impeachments. A blow dealt not by prosecutors, plaintiffs, politicos or the press — but by his own longtime accountants.

Morrison humiliates Australia further with lowest economic freedom ever

Heritage Foundation has graded all countries on prosperity, security and freedom and given Australia a huge F for FAIL, as Alan Austin reports. AFTER THREE YEARS of incompetent and lazy mismanagement by Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Treasurer Josh Frydenberg, Australia’s global score on economic freedom has collapsed to an all-time low. This adds yet another item to the list of “worst ever” outcomes notched up by this inept administration. That list is now well above 50. Australia no longer a global leader Respected Washington-based think tank Heritage Foundation released its 2022 index of economic freedom last week, scoring 177 nations on 12 quantitative and qualitative factors. Heritage gave Australia the shameful score of 77.7 points out of a possible 100.

Who is Scott Morrison? Never the Daggy Dad !!

Morrison had “urged the shadow cabinet to capitalize on the electorate’s growing concerns” about Muslims and appeal to the public perception of their “inability to integrate” to gain votes.

In February 2013, Morrison said that the police should be notified of where asylum seekers are living and that there should be strict guidelines for the behavior while they await the determination of their claims. The new code of conduct was released for more than 20,000 maritime arrivals living in the community on bridging visas.

2018 that Morrison asked for mitigation strategies to avoid granting permanent visas to 700 refugees. His office reported that there were 300 boats and 20,587 arrivals in 2013 to only 1 boat and 157 arrivals for all of 2014. The UNHCR expressed concerns that the practice may violate the Refugee Convention.

The annual refugee intake, , was reduced to 13,750, the level it had been in 2011–12. Morrison stated that “Not one of those places will go to anyone who comes on a boat to Australia […] they will go to people who have come the right way.” Morrison defended his use of the terms “illegal arrivals” and “illegal boats,” saying that “I’ve always referred to illegal entry … I’ve never claimed that it’s illegal to claim asylum.”

Morrison refused to answer questions about the status of asylum seekers or boats coming to and from Australia, often on the basis that he would not disclose “on water” or “operational” matters.

Australian Human Rights Commission delivered a report to the Government which found that Morrison failed in his responsibility to act in the best interests of children in detention during his time as Minister. The overarching finding of the inquiry was that the prolonged, mandatory detention of asylum seeker children caused them significant mental and physical illness and developmental delays, in breach of Australia’s international obligations.

In early December 2014, Morrison had the Migration and Maritime Powers Legislation Amendment  The bill gave Morrison more power than any previous minister in dealing with people seeking asylum in Australia, including the power to return asylum seekers to their place of origin, detain asylum seekers without charge, and refuse asylum seekers who arrive by boat access to the Refugee Review Tribunal.

SHOCKING IMAGES! Albo caught buying a spring roll in 2003 | The Shovel

Morrison deserves absolutely no respect for his fantasy smearing of Albo!

His schoolyard abuse just amplifies his and Dutton’s incapacity for leadership. Dutton turns to his typical Boomgate slagging when he has nothing intelligent to offer.

The theory that opposition leader Anthony Albanese is actually a secret Chinese operative is gaining traction, after a photo emerged of the Labor leader eating a spring roll nineteen years ago, in what appears to be a dedicated Chinese district. It comes just days after a video emerged of him attempting to speak a foreign language, which is against Australian law.

Instead, this year, there’s no one. Kelly has renominated to run for the UAP, spending Clive Palmer’s money freely on newspaper and television advertisements, as have a handful of independents and Peter Tsambalas for the Labor party.
