Racism in Australia is about the structures that ensure non-white people don’t get a fair go | Antoinette Lattouf | The Guardian

Scott Morrison and Danny Abdallah

Racism is Institutionally patterned behaviors generationally evolved historically and regarded as the norm. Some individuals were and are raised and socialized to internalize the cultural beliefs that support those behaviors as the norm. Others see them as unjustifiable systems, and merely socially constructed realities that can be altered and needn’t be maintained. Others see the need for them to be maintained and not altered to avoid disruption to the ” the natural order”. The ongoing though unequal  natural order in evolutions  struggle for power. Change has always been seen as a struggle forced not celebrated but resisted not encouraged by those whose social positon has benefited but not merited by what exists as opposed to what could and should have been. The distinction between Racism and  any Individual is far more complicated by the dichotomy of these macro v micro perspectives.

However, racism is far less about individual acts of kindness toward a grieving family (or, on the flip side, calling an Arab a “terrorist”) and far more about social systems and power structures that ensure non-white people don’t get a fair go. The Abdallahs had trauma and loss – not political power or economic influence. Towke was a young politician with a promising career that he alleges was taken from him, accusing Morrison of using his racial background against him. “I would have been the first Australian of Lebanese heritage to be a federal member of parliament on the Liberal party side and that’s a bit of history there which they stole from me,” he told The Project. Morrison has categorically denied what he describes as “malicious” claims. But it doesn’t matter whether you’re “team Abdallah” or “team Towke” when it comes to the truth about the prime minister. It’s almost inconsequential. Australia’s racism is bigger than one man – even if he is the leader of the country.

Climate change: Scott Morrison’s Achilles heel – » The Australian Independent Media Network

Scott Morrison has a problem with climate change which reflects his style of governing. He sees it as a political matter to be managed politically, not as an actual problem with the potential to cause severe problems in Australia in the relatively near term. He does not view climate change as a reality that must be dealt with now and with strong, far-reaching measures. Rather, it is something to be managed by the application of least-perturbation decision making aimed at short-term electoral success.

Make your vote count: The importance of this election is such that it will determine our future for better or for worse – » The Australian Independent Media Network

My thought for the day One of the cornerstones of Christianity is the concept of “truth”: in fact, Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth and the light”: “the truth shall set you free”: Our Prime Minister is a fervent practising member of that faith. Even allowing for the hue of political practice, it is difficult to imagine how arguably the greatest liar ever to have walked the corridors of Parliament can perpetuate its hypocrisy.( John Lord )

For Albanese to succeed the PM had to fail: Scott Morrison did not disappoint

Illustration: Jim Pavlidis

Morrison claims he’s for the “Quiet Australians”. Well, why have those Quiet Australians risen up against him? Because he’s shamed us in so many ways domestically, globally, and morally. He can’t go anywhere without the Quiet Australians screaming at him.

He’s dragged us down, down down on Climate, Aged Care, Diplomacy, Asylum Seekers, Refugees, Women. Let alone, pensions, wages,  our history, Robodebt, NBN, Racism, need I go on?. The fact is at Easter even strongest practitioners of Christianity today aren’t Morrison White, definitely not Nationalists, assimilationists, or one-eyed historians. They are indigenous, colored, ethnic, multicultural and are a far more welcoming mob than Morrison’s. It’s why Morrison doesn’t dare walk the streets or enter pubs but prefers the narrow lens of his edited media controlled cameras.

It’s time for Anthony Albanese to get some credit. The Prime Minister is calling the election and Albanese is exactly where he planned to be. Ahead. Under years of intense pressure to find some inner mongrel, to get more aggressive, Albanese stayed calm and carried on with his plan.

Rio claiming employee taxes as its own – Michael West Media

Minerals Council of Australia, Deloitte, taxes and royalties, Australian mining

The Minerals Council of Australia, a foreign-controlled mining lobby, has duped Australia’s major media in an $80bn PR scam by not accounting for billions in GST refunded every year, exaggerating the contribution of the minerals industry to Australia. Callum Foote reports.https://www.michaelwest.com.au/murdoch-media-nine-entertainment-mining-lobby-busted-for-record-bullartistry-go-into-hiding/

Plus

Minerals giant Rio Tinto has counted the $769 million in tax paid by its employees in Australia in its tally of tax paid by itself in 2021. The minerals and fossil fuel industry frequently engage in PR attempts to bolster its image of contributing to the economy, securing its social license to operate. Chief among these efforts is spruiking the amount of taxes and royalties paid. In 2021, Rio claims $11.1 billion in taxes and royalties have been paid in Australia alone. The first point is that royalties and taxes are not equivalent payments. Royalties are the cost of purchasing commodities from the Australian people. The second point is that Rio has claimed the taxes paid by its employees as its own.

Wind generation for First Time Outstrips both Coal and Nuclear in US

“Last Tuesday, total U.S. wind generation exceeded 2,000 GWh, making wind the second largest producer of electricity in the United States after natural gas for that 24-hour period. Did a quick look at EIA’s numbers going back to 2018. Don’t think that’s ever happened before.” Storrow notes that wind power in the US has occasionally bested coal, but not both coal and nuclear.

As US Squanders $728.5 billion/ yr on Pentagon, China Captures 65% of Global EV Sales, ups Production 115%

China is beating the pants off the United States in the burgeoning new energy vehicle market, out-producing and out-selling America with regard to plug-in vehicles by a massive margin. Whereas the Chinese government is supporting this new industry, the US government is still subsidizing fossil fuels and is spending $728.5 billion a year on the Pentagon at a time when the US is not even at war. The result is bloated and problematic engines of destruction like the failed F-35. In the first quarter of 2022, China is expected to take 65% of the global market in new-energy vehicles, according to Yang Yang at China Daily. China exported about 500,000 new-energy cars in 2021, 2.6 times more than the previous year,. China’s EV exports to Europe rose fivefold to 230,000 units write Akashi Kawakami, Yohei Muramatsu and Saki Shirai at Nikkei Asia.

Morrison’s Australia remains servile under AUKUS agreement

AUKUS = US, UK and “that guy Down Under” ?

Instead of feeling a sense of shame, there was merriment that Australia could be oh so useful to the power projects of others. Hoping that no one would notice, an emphasis on danger has been made. Deputy Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce justifies the acceleration of the hypersonic weapons program by claiming that Australia faces an “existential threat” from them. It would only take “about 14 minutes” for such devices to reach Australia, “so we have to make sure that we are right at the top of our game”. Presumably, this means doing everything to make Australia attractive, in an existentially doomed way, to other powers in the region.

Myanmar’s Russian backing is unleashing hell on its own people

Border mark: Just across the border from north-west Thailand, Burmese civilians and resistance fighters have been left to fend for themselves.

Morrison’s ambition is to join the Industrial Military Complex not just a consumer but a producer for the purpose business and profit. Our 70k tons of coal well that promise seems to have totally faded into the background like so many of Morrison’s announced “gunnas”.

Our two-faced duplicitous Morrison is currently supporting Putin by washing, laundering, and disguising the the assistance he’s giving  to Russia through his grand FTA with India. They continue to trade with Putin, and don’t sanction or vote against him in any way. On the other hand, Scott Morrison and Dutton is very vocal about China’s doing the same, abstaining to vote against Russia at the UN. Even if silent Morrison’s current choice to trade with India is to trade with Putin.

However, 14 months after generals seized power from Aung San Suu Kyi’s democratically elected government, they have elevated their offensive to a new, frightening scale.

Final detainees at Melbourne’s Park hotel freed as refugee releases continue in lead-up to election | Australian immigration and asylum | The Guardian

Graffiti on the Park hotel in Melbourne in January this year

Morrison is now desperate to clean his decade of weaponizing Asylum Seekers and Refugees up. It certainly doesn’t fit his denials that he politicizes race, religion, or ethnicity. The rush is on.

Federal Greens immigration spokesperson Nick McKim criticized the timing of the release. “This is belated but welcome news, and their relief will be massive, but this is not the end of their story,” he said in a statement. “That they are being released on the eve of an election is a deeply cynical move and it proves once again that their detention and torture was always a political decision.” Kanis agreed, describing the release as a “last-minute political fix” ahead of the federal election.

Exclusive: Leaked Messages Reveal the Origins of the Most Vile Hunter Biden Smear – Mother Jones

On November 1, Guo complained that “our GNews and GTV traffic has dropped all of a sudden in the past two days, letting others steal the limelight.” Trump’s defeat, two days later, completed the failure. But the lies Guo’s network pushed have not been snuffed out. And Giuliani has not recanted his false claims about Hunter Biden. He’s kept making them. In a speech last year at a gala hosted by Guo, Giuliani railed against Hunter Biden and asserted that President Joe Biden “is bought and paid for by the Chinese Communist Party.” (Giuliani billed a Guo nonprofit $50,000 for the speech, a source involved in organizing the event said.) Nothing on Hunter Biden’s laptop substantiates that claim. But the efforts of Trump allies in October 2020, along with the recent furor over coverage of the story, is likely to leave many Americans believing otherwise.

Ukraine and NATO Expansion

The problem is hardly new. In 1961, U.S. President (and five-star general) Dwight Eisenhower warned against, “the unwarranted influence”, of the “Military-Industrial Complex”, which will do anything to increase profits, which grow as arms sales increase and which benefit from wars. So, while moral outrage over Russian crimes in Ukraine is completely justified, we in the West need to avoid simplistic good guy/bad guy dichotomies. A global peace movement, like the one that prevented the United States from using nuclear weapons against the Vietnamese, is our best hope to reduce the risk of wars and other existential crises. As Nicolas Haeringer observes (in Informed Comment), “We can turn concrete acts of solidarity into the new norm…” 10 and reduce the unacceptable amount of suffering from conflicts, hunger, and poverty, as well as addressing the climate crisis. It’s up to us.

Elections in Europe — Amid Ukraine agony, Russia still finds support

Putin will prevail if good people do nothing

Russia find support in the hypocricy and political skullduggery of nations like Australia who are prepared to make noise about supporting Ukraine on one hand but then trading with nations supporting Russia  like India. The Morrison government wants to have it both ways and pretends they don’t. Morrison is typical of a misogynistic male liar who whispers “I’ll put it in a little bit if it hurts I’ll take it out, promise” and call that ok and consent.

Ideas of “folk” identity die hard, whether that is among a minority of “tradition-minded” French reviling Arab citizens there, ethnic-Serb nationalism, or even dreams from yesteryear of Magyar ethnic hegemony and empire in Hungary. The European Community before 1992 was a thoroughly democratic and prosperous Western European club, actually enacting ideals of justice, sharing and peace. It then acceded to urgent requests from the former communist states of Eastern Europe to be admitted to the new EU. NATO likewise agreed to admit those states to the alliance, as they were demanding greater assurance of protection from Russia. In light of the barbaric events of the last six weeks, they had reason to fear. Governments of the West, while united and determined in the present crisis, must rue that they had few alternatives during the ructions of the 1990s and made this rod for their own backs.

Germans Intercept Russian Radio Traffic Discussing Murdering Civilians In Bucha

The radio traffic intercepted by the BND makes it seem as though the atrocities perpetrated on civilians in Bucha were neither random acts nor the product of individual soldiers who got out of hand. Rather, say sources familiar with the audio, the material suggests that the troops spoke of the atrocities as though they were simply discussing their everyday lives. Just routine. The Russians have killed so many in Bucha that it’s difficult to decide what picture of a man with a bicycle they’re talking about.

Scott Morrison is dangerous – » The Australian Independent Media Network

Morrison shows all the characteristics of a fanatic cultist who just moves on if faced with any opposition. On to achieve the goal god chose for him. Yes if questions are too difficult he just moves on. He knows what he says is bullshit but that doesn’t matter the goal is more important. The difference between Morrison and Trump is that Trump isn’t religious ratings are his goal. But that’s  fundamentally the only difference. Trump made a list of promises that just faded away. Morrison doesn’t even believe in the ratings he did make it harder to get rid of him requiring a 66% majority. He knows he has 9 Pentacostalists on side and he moved Right as soon as he was elected. The LNP has become the autocratic party that’s pro a Kleptocracy and it’s why there will never be an ICAC.

Like QAnon and Trump Morrison can and will accuse the ALP or any opposition of being children eaters in the basement of a  pizza shop if it helps to achieve God’s destiny. Logic can never trump his faith and faith, not fact, is Morrison’s fuel. He is a member of God’s given  “elect” so it doesn’t matter if what it is he says is bullshit as long as it draws us away from the Godless Democracy and its Separation of Powers in his Christian country. He along with members of his Church are saved and don’t need to face judgement at the End of Daze. That’s why he can do and say anything, and it’s not a lie or transgression of any sort. He just needs to control the media.

Scott Morrison is dangerous because he is driven by a fantastically flawed personality, mixed with a deranged political ideology, with the added bonus of crazy end-of-times religious lunacy. In Australia we presume the good faith of our political leaders. It has held to be true for over a century, but Morrison has picked up certain traits from his role models overseas, which are foreign to us. The predominant trait I speak of is shamelessness, and an ability to instantly forget anything politically adverse; to instantly move on, in the naïve belief that we have no memories.

ScoMo ‘Sales’ through political storm, narrowly misses floodwaters and prayer rooms

Faced with a tsunami of complaints Morrison foldsFaced with a tsunami of complaints Morrison folds

Scott Morrison has deserted Queensland flood victims, refusing to co-fund our $741million flood recovery package. This package would have helped thousands of Queenslanders rebuild their lives. The Prime Minister’s response: that’s not my problem.

Whether anyone seriously believes ScoMo’s claims of copping criticism for helping flood victims, this ridiculous sideshow manoeuvre by the PM can hardly be considered a credible excuse for the leader of a nation to refuse help to people in a catastrophe. Regardless, it should only be viewed with disgust and may well seal his fate. Because, hopefully, it will not only be the victims of floods, or the victims of bushfires who remember this Prime Minister’s callous disregard for his fellow Australians but voters nationwide.

The full exchange includes Ms Berejiklian saying: “Morrison is a horrible horrible person. He is actively spreading lies and briefing against me re the fires,’’ the text message reads. Straight from Trump’s Playbook or Steve Bannon’s appoint as many of your friends to positions that will hamper any new government. There’s no ICAC to investigate the corruption that this government has delivered and wielded on the Australian electorate. Economic and Cultural Crimes done dirt cheap.

The Australian Federal Police Association, which represents 4,000 AFP members, has placed the establishment of a “far-reaching anti-corruption body” among its highest priorities ahead of the federal election, alongside improved support for officers suffering post-traumatic stress disorder, greater resourcing, and stronger firearms regulations.
The anti-corruption subject has raised its head once again. Now the Australian Federal Police are calling for a commission with far reaching arms. I thought the AFP were a voice for the LNP, however this report in the Guardian tells me something different. This commission must have retrospective powers. The Scummo team doesn’t want that. One has to wonder why? Could it be that the vast majority of them are corrupt?
Labor has already committed to an anti-corruption commission with the strength and powers of a standing royal commission, including the ability to hold public hearings.

Abbott came in like a stormtrooper yelling “the Sky was falling in”. “ditch the bitch”. It wasn’t the ALP saved us from the GFC we were the world’s best economy and Wayne Swan the best Treasurer. All while the Libs cried we couldn’t afford it. Our debt was $200bn and the media and LNP were beside themselves. Today it’s $1tn and their LNP are saying that’s fine, it’s Ok we’ve got good bones. However we need to be worried about China who we not so long ago celebrated the signing of an FTA.

Hit by their 6 year economic down turn exacerbated by the pandemic The LNP did what the ALP did to save the Nation but with a twist. They created JobKeeper which was on reflection a $50bn gift to profitable businesses and not direct gift to people who needed it the most. That coupled with corporate tax cuts saw housing become unaffordable and stock buybacks make the  market boom while the majority of ordinary Australians dipped into their savings to survive and take on multiple jobs without benefits. Meanwhile we watched wage and superannuation theft grow along with the wealth and income gaps.

Analysis of his speech showed the word “billion” appeared only once. This mention related to criticising the Liberals for losing billions by ripping up defence contracts. The word “millions” was only mentioned twice — once in relation to permanent cost of living savings for “millions of families” and once criticising the Liberals for their wasted millions on car parks that never got built. The Labor budget reply speech word cloud also showed where the emphasis of the speech was instead of cash. Labor will care about Australians. That’s a simple message that will resonate with Australians who have lived through three years of uncaring Liberal government when we needed care the most — bushfires, pandemic, flood and rising cost of living. The Liberals will paint this “care” as unaffordable, but I think Australians have worked out that it’s not economically irresponsible to “care”. Indeed, it’s reckless for society and the economy not to care.

Election 2022: Albanese ahead on cost of living, but voters back Morrison on economy

The Resolve Political Monitor shows Anthony Albanese is ahead of Scott Morrison with voters on keeping the cost of living low.

These myths are so ingrained it’s unbelievable. Yet the MSM continue to reinforce them despite the facts. The most progessive Governments this country has seen were the Whitlam’s and Hawke’s ALP. Yet. Peter Costello’s and Murdoch’s media mainstreams still turns on the mythical and fake love affair advertising the economic management skills of the LNP. The LNP has taken us to wars that made us no money. They have taxed us more than the ALP ever have and lead us to the greatest state of chaos we have ever experienced since the Great Depression. Wake up Australia, the LNP has seen us slide on every economic and social metric since 2013 when we were No 1 in the world. That’s a fact, no matter the propaganda or what you think.

Anthony Albanese has increased his lead against Scott Morrison on keeping the cost of living low but Labor is still behind on other major election issues.

Fox mentioned ivermectin nearly 300 times, then ignored new study finding the drug is ineffective against COVID-19 | Media Matters for America

Carlson and Ingraham

Reckless  and criminally irresponsible Fox news sends a message of death.

Fox News has mentioned the anti-parasite drug ivermectin at least 292 times since December 2020, according to a Media Matters review. The network’s relentless hyping of the drug as a COVID-19 treatment was irresponsible at the time and has aged terribly — a major study released last month found ivermectin is not effective. But Fox has hidden those results from its viewers, not mentioning that study on the air a single time to date.

Yes, Bucha is a War Crime: Putin Told us who He was in East Aleppo

Putin’s approach to war was clearly spelt out in Allepo and Chechnya and he hasn’t changed. His hope is to grab Ukraine’s resources and turn Eastern Europe into his own personal Nth Korean feifdom. His legacy is to have destroyed Russia and it’s reputation for the next 200 years.

The Russian withdrawal from the small town of Bucha near the capital of Kyiv left behind a raft of murdered civilians in the streets and bombed buildings the way an ebbing tide leaves behind flotsam and driftwood after a violent tsunami. The Russian government is attempting to escape blame for these atrocities by simply denying that they are the work of Russian troops, as though the Ukrainians shot themselves, repeatedly and in large numbers. Government spokesmen claim that the videos are deep fakes. It is an old war lie, rooted in a hope that the fog of war and your side’s blind nationalism will serve to perfume the stench of rotting corpses.
