Why is Scott Morrison hanging around? The weekend revelations that Morrison swore himself in to multiple portfolios without notifying the nation has sparked cries of outrage, in the political class at least.
‘Nothing about the last government was real, PM saysPrime Minister Anthony Albanese says there is an ‘absolute need’ for clear transparency.”This isn’t some local footy club,” Mr Albanese says.”This is a government of Australia where the people of Australia were kept in the dark as to what the ministerial arrangements were.””It’s completely unacceptable.”
Managing editor Michelle Pini takes a look at the Liberal Party fallout following its crushing defeat, including the politically departed and the remaining former glamour set.
Sadly the coalition parties have been stripped of talent, and so we could see a Labor government for years to come. That poses a series of future problems. A good government needs a good opposition. Morrison has pretty much made that impossible.
By urging his audience not to trust in the institution of government itself, and by taking his Pentecostal rhetoric to such heights, Morrison is parting with former prime ministerial convention. The congregation may have approved, but his fellow Liberal MPs appeared less enthused. Such indulgences are unlikely to re-cultivate the respect of the electorate.
Can we ever forget the man who won’t ever become a Malcolm Fraser nor a Kevin Rudd who now while still an MP cries “Don’t trust Governments only God” ?
The minds of defeated prime ministers are rarely pretty. In some cases, they are damnably awful places, where ruins accumulate and dust gathers in wretchedness. Such figures can become, by the admission of former Australian prime minister, Malcolm Turnbull, miserable ghosts, cantankerous, bitter and resentful. Then come some, such as Malcolm Fraser, who have healthy revelations. Others just go to seed.
“While he noted there were “biological issues” or “brain chemistry” that resulted in clinical disorders, he sought to link the everyday anxieties to a spiritual deficit. Mr. Morrison declared that if people gave into their worries, they were giving into “Satan’s plan”. Scott Morrison
The meek, the weak the downtrodden have fallen in battle to Satan’s Plan. Proof positive that those who survive are God’s elect the “chosen”. Just how radical Islamist is Morrison. Jihad is a central premise in his message to bring on the end of daze. He’s closer to Q than you think
“He said it, We read it, But didn’t believe it. Until we read it in Rolling Stone”
Is a song that might well be applied to the attempted Pentecostalist takeover of the Australian Government. A takeover that’s been stopped in its tracks for the moment but is not yet guaranteed ended. For them, the separation of powers between religion and the state is an anathema born out of multiculturalism and its attended beliefs that need to be stopped. Conversion and forced assimilation their desired path. Morrison’s second coming of Australia. Even Peter Dutton has taken it on as a core of the LNP’s opposition and strategy to divide the Left. Meanwhile, Scott Morrison is ready to reveal his true affiliation with OAN and its Pizzagate imaginings and origins.
Scott Morrison is continuing the Pentecostal agenda in Opposition, undermining the system of government he is still paid to uphold. Managing editor Michelle Pini takes a look at the former PM’s aggressively expanding cult.
Looking back at Scott Morrison and the legacy he left behind.
Where do we go from here with a pulpit-loving, personalized-prosperity preaching Pentecostal prime minister who habitually shirks responsibility, who refuses to apologise for even the most minor infraction to avoid accountability and is quite content to allow his ministers to fly under the radar without the threat of a federal ICAC hanging over their heads? A prime minister who increases the secrecy of government, often legislating or introducing bills to avoid scrutiny of cabinet while reducing the freedom of others, silencing them through litigation and costly secret trials that could result in gaol time for speaking out?
Writing this a couple of days after the most important election in Australian history, Australians did finally find their voices, and in no uncertain manner told the neo-liberal jackals who had come storming into public life that they were finished. Why the most important election? Because Morrison was on a path to Trumpian glory. Surrounded…
Why the most important election? Because Morrison was on a path to Trumpian glory. Surrounded by white evangelicals and emboldened by the sound of acquiescence from his front benchers, he was on a path to immortality. He had no reason to listen, he suffered no self-doubt.
His disdain for conventional behaviour, his seeming inability to act respectfully toward anyone he encountered, his feigned religious conviction all pointed to something deeply wrong about this man, and his government.
He never really saw past his Horizon and I’m not talking geographically
Morrison wasted his time as prime minister. The “miracle” win in 2019 left him unprepared, with little agenda, and just papered over the fault-lines and internal feuds within conservative politics. Whatever the result of the 2022 election, time in power ought not be squandered as it was in the 46th parliament.
He argued the other day, in the context of rejecting a Federal ICAC, that public servants should have no role in deciding where national resources go, or have any sort of oversight of what politicians should do with public funds:
“If we are going to so disempower our elected representatives to do things about what is needed in their communities, then what is the point?”
“We can’t just hand government over to faceless officials to make decisions that impact the lives of Australians from one end of the country to the other. I actually think there’s a great danger in that,” Morrison told the papers.
“It wouldn’t be Australia any more if that was the case, it would be some kind of public autocracy.”
Let that sink in.
This is the prime minister defining the normal operation of the democratic state as a “public autocracy”, arguing that all spending decisions should be taken, unencumbered, by individual members, which, you know, is the normal definition of autocracy (rule by an individual).
As an argument, it is incoherent, but it serves the purpose of redefining democratic practice as autocratic and autocracy as legitimate.
Unless the self-proclaimed “fixer” Prime Minister actually fixes the election, the chances of a Morrison Government being returned on Saturday appear slim.
Are we that gullible? He lied to get into parliament, He lied to get the top job. He lied to win the last election, We saw him lie through his first term in office. He is a salesman not a leader and we saw him pitch his illusions, tricks, and copy in plain sight from the get-go realizing that walking among us was not going to work.
He played us about as well as his ability to play his ukelele. Morrison’s whole 3-year term has been simply a campaign for another 3-year term. Meanwhile, his team was left confused, disorganized, and divided rabble. Where was the unity? Where was the man who couldn’t walk with the people? He was always on set with his media managers.
The dial isn’t shifting for Scott Morrison. Until now, the election contest has been characterised as between a man that people don’t know and a man that people don’t like. Now, it is between a man whose election would instantly bring change and a man who is promising to change himself, if just given one more chance.
Apparently, Kooyong isn’t an important seat as far as Morrison is concerned. You won’t find him walking the streets there. It seems he would prefer Josh lost because history shows win or lose Morrison isn’t giving up his job without a fight.
He engineered his way into it and will need to be levered out. If numbers count Josh Frydenberg would easily have 66% hands up to see Morrison waved farewell by a Party who can’t stand him. So Morrison in order to stay would be only too pleased to see Josh gone. That’s why Howard and Costello have been walking the streets there, but not Morrison.
With just three days left before polling day, Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese will deliver last-ditch election pitches in key eastern state seats, after a day in which policy costings dominated debate.
When the fires came, he went to Hawaii. When there were floods, he called in the ADF, for photo opportunities. When a staffer was raped in his party’s Parliamentary offices, the only thing that got done quickly was getting the couch cleaned. As for an integrity commission, he promised it before the last election and has voted against one 31 times.
Morrison calls France, America and Albanese and all verified and consistent reports liars and fake news. Just how like TRUMP is he?
Mr Morrison denied the veracity of the report, saying the government “absolutely complied with all of the issues that needed to be addressed in forming that partnership”. “We understood absolutely what the requirements were and we met them 100 per cent,” he said on Monday.
Australia’s reputation was diplomatically trashed by Morrison’s sting. He lied to both the French, and the Americans by not doing what he had promised while backstabbing Albanese. All in all, he singlehandedly compromised the integrity and reputation of our ADF. All of his duplicitous actions risked our National Security for what? His own personal interest, his entrenchment, and praise. Now he’s even losing that National Security political debate he held to be so precious because he’s the one still lying about what he actually did. The term National Security has actually dissolved to become Morrison Security.
Scott Morrison’s efforts by stealth to secure the AUKUS deal had global ramifications, with the French president enraged and the US president blindsided.
Australia’s own GOLUM…. Imagine what an Integrity Commission would discover investigating his past 15 years. Yes, Morrison plays cricket with sandpaper in his pocket
What’s his name asked Biden ” That guy down Under”? Yes, that guy who wanted all the glory for himself so risked jeopardizing the AUKUS. Only autocrats threaten a nation’s security by not doing what was agreed on with Morrison’s excuse “I thought they’d agree”.
Morrison took a punt for his own political glory and lied to everyone, which made him totally irresponsible, untrustworthy, and duplicitous. He lied to our American, British, French allies, and even us to get the deal done for his sake not ours. To say otherwise is to declare he was smarter and not reckless. He truley is “The Unbelievable One” second only to Trump and look what he did to America’s reputation. Morrison has trashed Australia in much the same way. Now the forever con man having been busted says he will change “that’s a promise”
By waiting four-and-a-half months, the prime minister made AUKUS into a high-stakes, last-minute political gambit.
The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age revealed on Saturday that four-and-half months before the announcement on September 16, senior members of the Biden administration insisted that it would only consider pursuing the landmark AUKUS project if it had solid support from both major Australian political parties.
Instead, the Morrison government waited until the day before the announcement to brief Albanese and senior members of the opposition about the plan to build nuclear submarines with the help of the US and Britain.
Just how original a genius is Scott Morrison? His Captain’s Pick of Katherine Deves, a carbon copy of America’s Republican far-Right. His Economic arguments weren’t cutting through so he turned to America’s culture wars and disguised it as a fight for “free speech and women”. But, Scott, “we aren’t America” where only 50% vote and we all do and too many just might see your lack of genius
the growing body of evidence that today’s culture-war issues present a major political opportunity for Republicans. Some key results from APP’s press release:
Women’s Sports: Fifty-six percent supported (33 percent opposed) laws to protect women’s sports at the K–12 and collegiate levels.
Sex Changes for Minors: Fifty-six percent supported (31 percent opposed) laws banning puberty blockers, cross-sex hormones, and physical sex-change surgeries for children.
Sexual Topics in Schools: Sixty percent supported (34 percent opposed) laws banning instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade.
How many times did we hear this from Abbott and he never did. The LNP changed him at a time when only 51% of the numbers were needed to kick him out as their leader. Turnbull didn’t change that and Morrison stabbed him in the back insuring he didn’t have the numbers either. Morrison knew the culture of the party wouldn’t pick a woman as leader even if Julie Bishop had all the skills for the job so it was between Morrison and Dutton.
Morrison then guaranteed he wasn’t going down the same way by raising the numbers required to get rid of him. Nobody has said he wasn’t an operator but that’s all he is. Right at this moment, his intransigent support for Deves has put moderate Liberals under threat and Josh Frydenber is one who’s come out and said he didn’t agree with Morrison’s pick to attract the religious Right Morrison knows only too well. Sharma, Zimmerman and Archer as well can all rot as far as QAnon Morrison is concerned.
History has shown Morrison to be a “gunna” If he gets the job he’s gunna “get the sack”. Rest assured it’s a road well travelled by Scott Morrison whose mates number the likes of Trump, Brian Houston, and QAnon fruit cakes like his best mate Tim Stewart. Scott Morrison hasn’t changed in over 2 decades. He thinks he’s a smooth operator but we’ve all seen he’s not. He’s the very opposite and members of his own party have called him out for it.
Asked about the Prime Minister’s comments during his own press conference in Far North Queensland, Albanese said if Australians wanted change “then change the government.”
“Scott Morrison today said he is a bulldozer. A bulldozer wrecks, a bulldozer knocks things down. I’m a builder, that’s what I am, and If I’m elected Prime Minister, I’ll build things in this country … I’ll build the skills capacity of this nation up … I’ll build people’s living standards up,” he said.
“Any lingering doubts moderate Liberals might have had that Scott Morrison was prepared to sacrifice heartland seats, including Kooyong held by his Treasurer and deputy Josh Frydenberg, to harvest votes in the regions and outer suburbs have been dispelled.
They smelled a rat on Sunday when he pledged to proceed with religious discrimination legislation without simultaneously protecting the rights of LGBTQ students.
Confirmation followed with another, even more robust defence … See more
PM’s claim Tudge not linked to $500,000 payout to Rachelle Miller proved false in letter
“Education Minister Alan Tudge is named multiple times in legal correspondence exchanged between lawyers acting for his former press secretary Rachelle Miller and the Department of Finance in relation to a secret $500,000 settlement.
Despite the Prime Minister’s claim that he “would have been told” if the negotiations involved a cabinet minister, news.com.au has confirmed the correspondence names not only Mr Tudge but another former employer Attorney-General Michaelia Cash and former Liberal staffers
Both ministers have categorically denied bullying Ms Miller during her employment.”
Morrison, when told rent was unaffordable said “buy a house”. Now when the cost of living is unaffordable he’s saying “get a 2nd or 3rd job we have got jobs jobs jobs for sale” or simply ” have a meal every other day”. Has anyone noticed the number of Beemers and Porches out there? “We did that”. Has he noticed the number of homeless, underemployed, and increasingly Covid ridden people?
Scott Morrison is advocating for a real wage cut to make a political point. Perhaps that’s why Seven’s undecided voters gave the final debate to the Labor leader
FACT CHECK 1: “The cost of living is about money in as well as money out, and in terms of wages growth, we’ve seen wages go backwards in the last year – we’ve seen wages flatline for 10 years.” Anthony Albanese, May 8.
It is certainly fair to say real wages growth has been historically low over the past decade. And as Albanese correctly notes, real wages have fallen in the past year.
FACT CHECK 2: “There’s no magic wand to increase wages. There’s no magic pen that makes it all happen.” Scott Morrison, May 9.
So while there may not be a magic pen, it would be wrong to suggest there is nothing the federal government can do.
Morrison is simply saying “It’s not my job” “I’m not holding the hose” proving yet again he’s no leader
What comes out of Morrison’s mouth are “sound bytes” Style without meaning, oxymorons,
By David Solomon Autocracy: ‘a system of government by one person with absolute power’. Public autocracy?
Public autocracy? There’s no such thing, according to my dictionaries, or indeed, Google. It’s a contradiction in terms.
But what I think Prime Minister Scott Morrison meant when he declared (in an interview reported in Wednesday’s Sydney Morning Herald) that Australia could become a ‘public autocracy’ if a national integrity commission had too much influence over government thinking was that absolute power would be exercised by public servants, rather than by politicians such as himself.
It is a nonsensical suggestion, that deliberately, falsely, misrepresents the power any prospective national integrity commission might have, and the way the public service does, can or even might operate. But it says a lot about the unconstrained powers that the Prime Minister considers are appropriate for him and his ministers. Indeed, about the way he and his government have sometimes acted.
Morrison says discrimination against LBGTQIs in schools “isn’t a problem just look at the figures”. But he believes in transgender girls in sports is but,” just don’t look a the figures”.
Morrison will say anything at any even contradicting himself. Catherine Deves has walked back on the apology she made and Morrison guaranteed. Her disgusting and cruel comment about children now stands. Like Tudge will “I don’t know anything about that ” now be Morrison’s response?
Scott Morrison has announced his determination to go ahead with his failed religious discrimination act, without the promised concurrent amendments to the sex discrimination act to protect gay and transgender students.
“We’ve been having this conversation for about the last four years, and on each occasion, it has been presented that apparently students are being expelled each and every day, each and every week, or each and every year. There is no evidence [of that] because the religious schools themselves don’t wish to do that. They don’t wish to do it. This is an issue that is actually not occurring in these schools.”
They may not want to expel students, just threaten them with burning in the fires of hell unless they give up their perverted, evil ways.
And that’s what this bill is designed to do – to protect the right of the religious to abuse and discriminate.
Back in 2017, Morrison revealed the true beginnings of this bill – a payback for losing the marriage equality plebiscite.
Christians, The Blessed Minority, Promise to Rule the Federation.
Scott Morison has pledged religious discrimination laws would still be a priority should the coalition be re-elected at the May 21 poll. However, such laws would be separated from proposed amendments that would protect LGBT students from being expelled. When pressed on the timing of such measures, the Prime Minister said the religious discrimination laws would be addressed first.
Morrison is welcome to support and do deals with Clive’s UAP and Hansons One Nation if asked. “Keep Josh” is starting to sound like a Surrender slogan and Josh has turned to begging in Kew. If Morrison wins chaos sounds the logical outcome.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has refused to say if he will remain in parliament if the Coalition loses the election, and a slew of independents hold power after May 21. The Liberals face an escalating challenge from teal independents in some of their once safest seats, including Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s seat of Kooyong and former PM Malcolm Turnbull’s seat of Wentworth, now held by Dave Sharma. Mr Morrison has largely skipped those seats so far during the election campaign, amid chatter that he is “toxic” in inner-city Liberal-held seats.
Morrison looks as old and as tired as Trump, a fish out of water thrashing around in the shallows searching for another chance. Looking for a miracle while we stand watching. No, he’s Brian Houston his mentor reliving Houston’s experience at Hillsong
the ALP plan to allow a modest number of lower-income earners to get into the housing market through a shared equity scheme. These have been used successfully in other countries and are supported by various state governments. Morrison backed similar schemes in 2008 and 2017, but now he reckons it’s a sneaky way of Labor grabbing capital gains from the family home. If it was a bigger scheme, one that is easier for people to grasp in detail or it looked more sinister than it is, Morrison might be onto something. As it is, he looks like a tired vaudeville act trying to work up the crowd with material at least two seasons old.
Our secular Democracy allows what they don’t. It has become increasingly obvious that the Separation of Powers and have no place in Morrison’s Australia.
Let me tell you about the most brazen assault on Australia’s secular democracy you have probably never heard about.
A plan by a shadowy group of “prophets” and “apostles” to take over the world sounds like the stuff of a bad airport novel, but it is one of the most important ideas in the Pentecostal movement today.
The premise of 7M, as it’s often called, is that the seven pillars of society have been taken over by demonic powers. Believers have to reclaim control of these “mountains” so that Christ can return to rule over the Earth.
The ALP will allow the government to take stakes of up to 40 per cent in first home-buyers’ properties, to help them get into the market.
It is similar to a plan Mr Morrison announced in 2008 – which he denied on Monday. “I had no plan for the government to own people’s homes,” he said.
Mr Morrison said Labor’s plan would put homeowners “last in line”. “Labor has a plan where they want the government to own your home, it’s not only that, you are last in line when it comes to your home,” he said. “The bank has the first call over it. The government has the second call over it, and you come last when it comes to your own home.”
Critics who labelled the New South Wales anti-corruption watchdog as a “kangaroo court” – a phrase used by the prime minister in his criticisms of the agency – were “buffoons” who were launching unfounded attacks, a parliamentary committee has heard. Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) commissioner Stephen Rushton told a parliamentary review that references to the body as a “kangaroo court” weren’t just misleading but were also untrue. People who made those comments were “buffoons”, he told the review into the annual reports of the Icac and the Inspector of the Icac. Rushton said the Icac had been in place for more than 30 years, exposing corruption and maintaining trust in public administration.
There will be no Separation of Powers in Morrison’s Democracy
despite Philip Ruddock’s 2018 Religious Freedom Review showing there was “no impediment” to religious freedom in Australia. But the Review made concessions to religion which – with the help of Christian Porter and the Morrison government – morphed into several troubled versions of the Religious Discrimination Bill (RDB). In February 2022 the Bill was “shelved”, but it was not defeated. Its failure to pass into law, however, did create even greater angst for the religious right. There was already a form of ‘Christian Woke’ – or claims of religious racism – which arose from the sense of injustice and persecution when Same Sex Marriage was legalised. The RDB remains a means to re-establish Christian authority for religious fundamentalists – especially on the LGBTI issue. They still wish to impose their religious “ethos” within education, together with the ability to hire and fire teachers and reject students purely on the basis of their sexuality.
Morrison send the Christian Right his “assurance” that the RDB will be his “priority”
4 People died during the ALP Pink Bats scheme and the LNP went “apeshit” Our debt to GDP ratio was 20% and the “Sky was falling in” Tax was overall 20%. Today LNP “promises” so broken are now “pledges” 1) that 23.9% but it will be higher.2) there will be no integrity commission or ABC under a Morrison’s government. Despite the fact he’s raised our International Corruption Index to the highest since it was established from 12 to 18. 3)In the meantime the LNP has been molded into greatest rabble of self-interested incompetents we have been served by and he says “Don’t judge us by our past”
Finally, we have the Coalition tearing itself apart over net zero climate change and Mr Morrison’s intervention in the NSW branch of the Liberal Party. I could write more facts and opinions about this terrible government; however, War and Peace would then be a shorter and not so daunting book. I have put up my hand 🤚 to say I will be voting for Albanese Government. I hope after you read this article you will do the same.
Morrison pledges greater control over Facebook why? More for the amount of negative reaction he’s getting than “trolling”. “Trolling” in the mind of the LNP is voter reaction to them. Imagine if Albanese was PM and he promised the same We’d be a huen cry from Morrison about “free speech”. It’s not hard to predict given the increased surveillance on us all this past decade. Dutton’s even been advocating Government ministers should be funded to sue and defended at taxpayer cost anyone on social media. This government has increased the level of secrecy never seen before and wants more. They want to be the the ultimate arbiter of what is corrupt and should be investigated. They have been incrementally degrading democracy as we know it.
National Times 14h · From Sara on Twitter Again Australians are being treated like MUGS ! Scott Morrison asked by Journo “ Is it appropriate Fiona Meagher daughter of former High Court judge Ian Callinan with no interview…Mr Callinan called you in late 2020…his daughter to be appointed deputy president of the Administrator Appeals Tribunal. Scott Morrison answers “ I’m not aware.” Body Language – Guilty You gotta ask yourself this question, if he’s “unaware” of so many things relating directly to him, how can he possibly be a well informed Prime Minister when he keeps saying I’m not aware of that of this. Morrison has lost control of the country and the economy.
The Religious Right have always been here but was John Howard who sought the votes and money. Then Liberal Minister’s with no imagination have adopted their American policies here with Morrison leading that current move of entrenching the “blessed and recruiting Katherine Deves and any cost. Morrison is an evangelist who grew up with a very faith-based creationist background. A background that eschews science and data as the epistemological basis for the continued change in our knowledge of the world for one that’s less progressive but is fundamentally hierarchical and a return to the Dark Ages
It arguably took one presidential term in America for the nation to move from a modern nation with a loud Religious Right, to one where in 9 states a woman enduring a miscarriage will fear arrest for the charge that she caused it.
Australia is echoing the American attack on trans people with other campaigns yet to follow the predictable American models. Amanda Stoker, Assistant Minister for Women, has been beginning to mainstream anti-choice arguments, and George Christensen introduced an anti-abortion bill to parliament last year. The Australian Christian Lobby is not only attacking Liberal candidates who crossed the floor to demand amendments to the religious discrimination bill, but is also campaigning against candidates who support late-term abortions (which are basically an emergency medical procedure).
These are the steps towards the cliff over which the US is now, suddenly, tumbling. Australians need to approach this election with full understanding of what a Coalition under siege from religious extremism means for us. The American model should scare us.
Morrison shoots himself in the mouth trying to be “sneaky”
Scott Morrison and other government MPs are accusing Labor of planning to introduce a “sneaky carbon tax” by – wait for it – using an existing Coalition policy as it was intended.
Sounds ridiculous, right? Election campaign shamelessness on steroids. But there is a lot going on here and it is worth stepping through it. What is the policy? The awkwardly named safeguard mechanism was created by Greg Hunt, the former environment minister and introduced under then prime minister Tony Abbott, a well-known climate sceptic. It was legislated in 2014 as part of what was then known as the Coalition’s “direct action” policy.
Liberal Party enacts ‘Bring out John Howard in case of emergency’ procedures
“Quick! Smash the glass and pull him out!”
Morrison apologized for declaring himself “Blessed” claiming not to be shaming or besmirching disabled children. He was in fact maligned and the victim. But as his line of denial wasn’t being accepted after 2 days he apologised. But perfectly happy leaving parents of disabled children to deal and struggle with his cuts to their NDIS plans. NDIS lawyers are abandoning their jobs because any defence of the cuts was simply immoral.
However Morrison having said sorry for being wrong supports his “Captain’s Pick” Katherine Deves right to be a bigot on the governments behalf its her right to “free speech” even if wrong. Like Morrison all she has to do is say sorry and continue to genuinely represent the LNP. She’s a woman and has the right to declare that trans children “boys” and be banned from women’s sport. Despite the fact it never been a social problem. However, she is now doing what alpha-male Morrison did when he stood up and said disengenuously and now disengenuously defending women
Morrison is a contradiction on two legs. So two-faced and showing the insincerity, and meaninglessness of his apology. The two sorries don’t make it right and the LNP is now divided on the issue and Morrison’s incompetence and insincerity amplified.
“She is a woman standing up for women and girls and their access to fair sport in this country,” he said. “I am not going to allow her to be silenced.”
Barrow Boys and Spiffs: The Australian federal government – parties that damaged the nation – a reflection on the last three years of political escapades in Australia.
Morrison is doing a lot of political whining about fairness in our Democracy just as Abbott once did when complaining against the ABC. “Why aren’t they supporting us” he cried and banned MPs from the from any interviews on our national broadcaster, cutting funding by a $1bn over the past decade. “We are the Government and we should be supported” has been Morrison’s catch cry as well. The LNP wants flag-waving, not questions. Morrison is doing an Abbott crying, and always loudly that nobody loves his government loves or supports him despite the fact that all he’s done for the past 3 years has been campaigning for this election and doing it badly.
1) Abbott closed down Radio Australia and created a vacuum in the region
2) Abbott was far more interested in Europe War Memorials, Knighthoods and Shirt-fronting Putin. Being a Friend of China was a political and economic advantage.
3) However Murdoch Media were constantly rubbing China the wrong way and China asked the Abbott government to intervene but they ignored it because Murdoch was a far more essential associate of the LNP. He was their publicist.
4) Morrison and Dutton have always known “impressing Murdoch in Australian politics was a must”. More so than being friends of China’s and so they set out to do just that as neither were really Murdoch’s picks. China simply ran second to Domestic politics, the next election was always in the front of mind. Without Murdoch Media the LNP were dead in the water. It’s Murdoch that makes MORRISON’s MIRACLES HAPPEN.
As the Coalition campaign seeks to revive the talking point that Labor always “takes China’s side”, Scott Morrison implored reporters to “just look at the record”. So we did just that and found the claims by the prime minister and his senior ministers are either factually inaccurate, misleading, or lack context.
Australia’s PM Morrison wants our manufacturing to become a much more active participant in the global Industrial Military Complex about which questions can’t be asked. Just as he created an “On the Water Matters” to brush off embarrassing information about the treatment of asylum seekers. Making government supported manufacturing a ” National Security Area” a zone of privileged information exclusive to the LNP and its friends.
The boards of defense companies like Lockheed Martin and Boeing are encouraging their shareholders to vote against transparency measures. Maybe the US government shouldn’t fund companies whose profits would be harmed by the collection of human rights data?
Morrison feels Blessed with Taxpayer Money and he gives it to his anointed group of Corporations
Coalition spending on fossil fuel subsidies tops $1.3 billion in first week of campaign
Just one week into the official election campaign, the Coalition has already racked up promises to channel almost $1.3 billion in fresh subsidies to the fossil fuel industry – spending nearly $150 million a day.
The largest subsidy, announced right before the start of the Easter long weekend, will see a Coalition government spend $660 million to accelerate fracking in the Northern Territory’s Beetaloo Basin. It’s a massive spend that dwarfs the Coalition’s commitments to support clean energy projects and one that will underwrite the expansion of Australia’s fossil fuel industries and its emissions footprint.
Morrison simply doesn’t trust the LNP so he wants to CONTROL IT
There is a very simple reason why Prime Minister Scott Morrison broke his pre-2019 election promise to introduce into parliament legislation to establish a Commonwealth integrity commission. It wasn’t that it was attacked as being too weak by the Labor Party, independents, retired judges and some of his own backbenchers. It was because if he had brought the legislation into Parliament he would have lost control of it. He knew he could not trust all of his backbenchers to support the government’s line, and that a few of them – enough of them – would have voted with Labor and the independents to transform his proposed ineffective integrity commission into one with teeth, one that could investigate the misdeeds of politicians such as himself, and hold public hearings that could damage them politically.
Julia Banks tells a different story. “It was the three months of Morrison’s leadership that … was definitely the most gut-wrenching, distressing period of my entire career.” Morrison an advocate for women? It’s risible and – as The Monthly’s Rachel Withers notes, it’s insulting to women. “The claim is laughable. If there’s anyone Morrison was trying to save it was factional consigliore Alex Hawke (Evangelical) in the seat of Mitchell, and his overarching aim was to maintain control of the numbers in the party. At the end of the day, the only person Scott Morrison truly stands up for is Scott Morrison.”
Conservatives Reversed and polluted the term WOKE as they did Racism Climate. They said White Lives Matter too, Heterosexuality matters as well, that Women are Misandrists, Poverty is the fault of the poor, not the system, and in the case of the failure to set up an ICAC, it’s their opposition’s fault. They claim Morrison hasn’t been able to rule the nation because the opposition does.
No, what Morrison is actually saying is “Australia isn’t a Democracy” ” It’s My Way or the Highway” There is no place for an opposition in Australia no place for Democracy in his church. He is the voice an Autocrat an evangelistic pastor of Australia. .
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he will only introduce his highly criticised model for a federal anti-corruption body if Labor promises to let it through parliament unchanged.
