He argued the other day, in the context of rejecting a Federal ICAC, that public servants should have no role in deciding where national resources go, or have any sort of oversight of what politicians should do with public funds:
“If we are going to so disempower our elected representatives to do things about what is needed in their communities, then what is the point?”
“We can’t just hand government over to faceless officials to make decisions that impact the lives of Australians from one end of the country to the other. I actually think there’s a great danger in that,” Morrison told the papers.
“It wouldn’t be Australia any more if that was the case, it would be some kind of public autocracy.”
Let that sink in.
This is the prime minister defining the normal operation of the democratic state as a “public autocracy”, arguing that all spending decisions should be taken, unencumbered, by individual members, which, you know, is the normal definition of autocracy (rule by an individual).
As an argument, it is incoherent, but it serves the purpose of redefining democratic practice as autocratic and autocracy as legitimate.
Unless the self-proclaimed “fixer” Prime Minister actually fixes the election, the chances of a Morrison Government being returned on Saturday appear slim.
Are we that gullible? He lied to get into parliament, He lied to get the top job. He lied to win the last election, We saw him lie through his first term in office. He is a salesman not a leader and we saw him pitch his illusions, tricks, and copy in plain sight from the get-go realizing that walking among us was not going to work.

The dial isn’t shifting for Scott Morrison. Until now, the election contest has been characterised as between a man that people don’t know and a man that people don’t like. Now, it is between a man whose election would instantly bring change and a man who is promising to change himself, if just given one more chance.
Apparently, Kooyong isn’t an important seat as far as Morrison is concerned. You won’t find him walking the streets there. It seems he would prefer Josh lost because history shows win or lose Morrison isn’t giving up his job without a fight.
He engineered his way into it and will need to be levered out. If numbers count Josh Frydenberg would easily have 66% hands up to see Morrison waved farewell by a Party who can’t stand him. So Morrison in order to stay would be only too pleased to see Josh gone. That’s why Howard and Costello have been walking the streets there, but not Morrison.

How many times did we hear this from Abbott and he never did. The LNP changed him at a time when only 51% of the numbers were needed to kick him out as their leader. History has shown Morrison to be a “gunna” If he gets the job he’s gunna “get the sack”. Rest assured it’s a road well travelled by Scott Morrison whose mates number the likes of Trump, Brian Houston, and QAnon fruit cakes like his best mate Tim Stewart. “Education Minister Alan Tudge is named multiple times in legal correspondence exchanged between lawyers acting for his former press secretary Rachelle Miller and the Department of Finance in relation to a secret $500,000 settlement.

It is certainly fair to say real wages growth has been historically low over the past decade. And as Albanese correctly notes, real wages have fallen in the past year.

So while there may not be a magic pen, it would be wrong to suggest there is nothing the federal government can do.

Public autocracy? There’s no such thing, according to my dictionaries, or indeed, Google. It’s a contradiction in terms.
But what I think Prime Minister Scott Morrison meant when he declared (in an interview reported in Wednesday’s Sydney Morning Herald) that Australia could become a ‘public autocracy’ if a national integrity commission had too much influence over government thinking was that absolute power would be exercised by public servants, rather than by politicians such as himself.
It is a nonsensical suggestion, that deliberately, falsely, misrepresents the power any prospective national integrity commission might have, and the way the public service does, can or even might operate. But it says a lot about the unconstrained powers that the Prime Minister considers are appropriate for him and his ministers. Indeed, about the way he and his government have sometimes acted.
Morrison says discrimination against LBGTQIs in schools “isn’t a problem just look at the figures”. But he believes in transgender girls in sports is but,” just don’t look a the figures”.
Morrison will say anything at any even contradicting himself. Catherine Deves has walked back on the apology she made and Morrison guaranteed. Her disgusting and cruel comment about children now stands. Like Tudge will “I don’t know anything about that ” now be Morrison’s response?
Scott Morrison has announced his determination to go ahead with his failed religious discrimination act, without the promised concurrent amendments to the sex discrimination act to protect gay and transgender students.
“We’ve been having this conversation for about the last four years, and on each occasion, it has been presented that apparently students are being expelled each and every day, each and every week, or each and every year. There is no evidence [of that] because the religious schools themselves don’t wish to do that. They don’t wish to do it. This is an issue that is actually not occurring in these schools.”
They may not want to expel students, just threaten them with burning in the fires of hell unless they give up their perverted, evil ways.
And that’s what this bill is designed to do – to protect the right of the religious to abuse and discriminate.
Back in 2017, Morrison revealed the true beginnings of this bill – a payback for losing the marriage equality plebiscite.

These have been used successfully in other countries and are supported by various state governments. Morrison backed similar schemes in 2008 and 2017, but now he reckons it’s a sneaky way of Labor grabbing capital gains from the family home. If it was a bigger scheme, one that is easier for people to grasp in detail or it looked more sinister than it is, Morrison might be onto something. As it is, he looks like a tired vaudeville act trying to work up the crowd with material at least two seasons old.
Our secular Democracy allows what they don’t. It has become increasingly obvious that the Separation of Powers and have no place in Morrison’s Australia.
Let me tell you about the most brazen assault on Australia’s secular democracy you have probably never heard about.

Independent Commission Against Corruption (Icac) commissioner Stephen Rushton told a parliamentary review that references to the body as a “kangaroo court” weren’t just misleading but were also untrue. People who made those comments were “buffoons”, he told the review into the annual reports of the Icac and the Inspector of the Icac. Rushton said the Icac had been in place for more than 30 years, exposing corruption and maintaining trust in public administration.
There will be no Separation of Powers in Morrison’s Democracy
despite Philip Ruddock’s 2018 Religious Freedom Review showing there was “no impediment” to religious freedom in Australia. But the Review made concessions to religion which – with the help of Christian Porter and the Morrison government – morphed into several troubled versions of the Religious Discrimination Bill (RDB). In February 2022 the Bill was “shelved”, but it was not defeated. Its failure to pass into law, however, did create even greater angst for the religious right. There was already a form of ‘Christian Woke’ – or claims of religious racism – which arose from the sense of injustice and persecution when Same Sex Marriage was legalised. The RDB remains a means to re-establish Christian authority for religious fundamentalists – especially on the LGBTI issue. They still wish to impose their religious “ethos” within education, together with the ability to hire and fire teachers and reject students purely on the basis of their sexuality.

It arguably took one presidential term in America for the nation to move from a modern nation with a loud Religious Right, to one where in 9 states a woman enduring a miscarriage will fear arrest for the charge that she caused it.
Australia is echoing the American attack on trans people with other campaigns yet to follow the predictable American models. Amanda Stoker, Assistant Minister for Women, has been beginning to mainstream anti-choice arguments, and George Christensen introduced an anti-abortion bill to parliament last year. The Australian Christian Lobby is not only attacking Liberal candidates who crossed the floor to demand amendments to the religious discrimination bill, but is also campaigning against candidates who support late-term abortions (which are basically an emergency medical procedure).
These are the steps towards the cliff over which the US is now, suddenly, tumbling. Australians need to approach this election with full understanding of what a Coalition under siege from religious extremism means for us. The American model should scare us.

Scott Morrison and other government MPs are accusing Labor of planning to introduce a “sneaky carbon tax” by – wait for it – using an existing Coalition policy as it was intended.
Sounds ridiculous, right? Election campaign shamelessness on steroids. But there is a lot going on here and it is worth stepping through it. What is the policy? The awkwardly named safeguard mechanism was created by Greg Hunt, the former environment minister and introduced under then prime minister Tony Abbott, a well-known climate sceptic. It was legislated in 2014 as part of what was then known as the Coalition’s “direct action” policy.

But as his line of denial wasn’t being accepted after 2 days he apologised. But perfectly happy leaving parents of disabled children to deal and struggle with his cuts to their NDIS plans. NDIS lawyers are abandoning their jobs because any defence of the cuts was simply immoral.
However Morrison having said sorry for being wrong supports his “Captain’s Pick” Katherine Deves right to be a bigot on the governments behalf its her right to “free speech” even if wrong. Like Morrison all she has to do is say sorry and continue to genuinely represent the LNP. She’s a woman and has the right to declare that trans children “boys” and be banned from women’s sport. Despite the fact it never been a social problem. However, she is now doing what alpha-male Morrison did when he stood up and said disengenuously and now disengenuously defending women
Morrison is a contradiction on two legs. So two-faced and showing the insincerity, and meaninglessness of his apology. The two sorries don’t make it right and the LNP is now divided on the issue and Morrison’s incompetence and insincerity amplified.

Morrison is doing a lot of political whining about fairness in our Democracy just as Abbott once did when complaining against the ABC. “Why aren’t they supporting us” he cried and banned MPs from the from any interviews on our national broadcaster, cutting funding by a $1bn over the past decade. “We are the Government and we should be supported” has been Morrison’s catch cry as well. The LNP wants flag-waving, not questions. Morrison is doing an Abbott crying, and always loudly that nobody loves his government loves or supports him despite the fact that all he’s done for the past 3 years has been campaigning for this election and doing it badly.
1) Abbott closed down Radio Australia and created a vacuum in the region
2) Abbott was far more interested in Europe War Memorials, Knighthoods and Shirt-fronting Putin. Being a Friend of China was a political and economic advantage.
3) However Murdoch Media were constantly rubbing China the wrong way and China asked the Abbott government to intervene but they ignored it because Murdoch was a far more essential associate of the LNP. He was their publicist.
4) Morrison and Dutton have always known “impressing Murdoch in Australian politics was a must”. More so than being friends of China’s and so they set out to do just that as neither were really Murdoch’s picks. China simply ran second to Domestic politics, the next election was always in the front of mind. Without Murdoch Media the LNP were dead in the water. It’s Murdoch that makes MORRISON’s MIRACLES HAPPEN.
As the Coalition campaign seeks to revive the talking point that Labor always “takes China’s side”, Scott Morrison implored reporters to “just look at the record”. So we did just that and found the claims by the prime minister and his senior ministers are either factually inaccurate, misleading, or lack context.

Just as he created an “On the Water Matters” to brush off embarrassing information about the treatment of asylum seekers. Making government supported manufacturing a ” National Security Area” a zone of privileged information exclusive to the LNP and its friends.
The boards of defense companies like Lockheed Martin and Boeing are encouraging their shareholders to vote against transparency measures. Maybe the US government shouldn’t fund companies whose profits would be harmed by the collection of human rights data?

Coalition spending on fossil fuel subsidies tops $1.3 billion in first week of campaign
Just one week into the official election campaign, the Coalition has already racked up promises to channel almost $1.3 billion in fresh subsidies to the fossil fuel industry – spending nearly $150 million a day.
The largest subsidy, announced right before the start of the Easter long weekend, will see a Coalition government spend $660 million to accelerate fracking in the Northern Territory’s Beetaloo Basin. It’s a massive spend that dwarfs the Coalition’s commitments to support clean energy projects and one that will underwrite the expansion of Australia’s fossil fuel industries and its emissions footprint.
Morrison simply doesn’t trust the LNP so he wants to CONTROL IT
There is a very simple reason why Prime Minister Scott Morrison broke his pre-2019 election promise to introduce into parliament legislation to establish a Commonwealth integrity commission. It wasn’t that it was attacked as being too weak by the Labor Party, independents, retired judges and some of his own backbenchers. It was because if he had brought the legislation into Parliament he would have lost control of it. He knew he could not trust all of his backbenchers to support the government’s line, and that a few of them – enough of them – would have voted with Labor and the independents to transform his proposed ineffective integrity commission into one with teeth, one that could investigate the misdeeds of politicians such as himself, and hold public hearings that could damage them politically.
Julia Banks tells a different story. “It was the three months of Morrison’s leadership that … was definitely the most gut-wrenching, distressing period of my entire career.” Morrison an advocate for women? It’s risible and – as The Monthly’s Rachel Withers notes, it’s insulting to women. “The claim is laughable. If there’s anyone Morrison was trying to save it was factional consigliore Alex Hawke (Evangelical) in the seat of Mitchell, and his overarching aim was to maintain control of the numbers in the party. At the end of the day, the only person Scott Morrison truly stands up for is Scott Morrison.”
Conservatives Reversed and polluted the term WOKE as they did Racism Climate. They said White Lives Matter too, Heterosexuality matters as well, that Women are Misandrists, Poverty is the fault of the poor, not the system, and in the case of the failure to set up an ICAC, it’s their opposition’s fault. They claim Morrison hasn’t been able to rule the nation because the opposition does.
No, what Morrison is actually saying is “Australia isn’t a Democracy” ” It’s My Way or the Highway” There is no place for an opposition in Australia no place for Democracy in his church. He is the voice an Autocrat an evangelistic pastor of Australia. .
Prime Minister Scott Morrison says he will only introduce his highly criticised model for a federal anti-corruption body if Labor promises to let it through parliament unchanged.
However, before he signs his statutory declaration to say he didn’t do what he likely did, he should consider the fact that accusations against him are not malicious, bitter slurs or in any way offensive if they are true. Now Morrison says the only reason he would be required to sign a statutory declaration is if a court ordered him to do so.
