Trump’s attempt to divert attention from the coronavirus and protests against police violence against Black Americans is not working. He is attempting to portray those who oppose him as violent criminals, and promises to bring back LAW & ORDER, as he repeatedly tweets. But it is not working. Only 33% of Americans approve of his handling of the coronavirus pandemic and only 31% approve of his handling of race relations. And as for law and order: most people also trust Biden, rather than Trump, on that issue, too, by a margin of 49% to 42%.
And the federal intrusion into the cities appears to be backfiring. The crowds in Portland are increasing dramatically. Tonight the Wall of Moms waved their hands above their heads as they softly sang a new lullaby: “Hands up, please don’t shoot me.”

The suit alleges that the firms misled the state into funneling retirees’ money into investments that were “secretive, opaque, illiquid, impossible to properly monitor or accurately value, high-fee, high-risk gambles with no historical record of performance.” The suit asserts that these were “absolutely unsuitable investments for a pension fund in the particular situation [Kentucky] was in, and violated the applicable laws, codes and standards.”
If that were the case why have the Israeli and Russian consulates allowed to remain open. Asked why the US had been ordered the Houston consulate to shut down, State Department spokeswoman Morgan Ortagus suggested breaches of the Vienna Convention, which she said requires diplomats to “respect the laws and regulations of the receiving State” and “have a duty not to interfere in the internal affairs of that State.”
“We have directed the closure of PRC Consulate General Houston, in order to protect American intellectual property and Americans’ private information,” he said.

Is AI Group just a front for big business and foreign weapons manufacturers? Michael West reports on the rise of government and business propaganda outfits who are suddenly mute when the subject turns to the delicate matter of who funds them.
Nobody would begrudge Willox and other lobbyists the right to their opinions. Again, the questions are, why are taxpayers subsidising AI’s profitable businesses and why are these things never disclosed in their prolific media appearances?
The left of politics too has its think tanks which tend to be faithful to the political creeds of either the Greens or Labor. Again, unlike some of the Coalition’s flag-wavers such as AI, ASPI and the NSW Business Chamber they don’t tend to enjoy lavish Government contracts, which are clear conflicts of interest.
The final point of disclosure is that in recent years, AI has increasingly represented Defence contractors. This is a further area for public disclosure as Defence spending has gone through the roof under the present government.

Morrison Government kowtows to the Murdoch global Dynasty (ODT)
Opposition communications ministers have called out the Morrison government’s continued hypocrisy in its funding of its broadcast interests – granting $10 million of public to Fox Sports, weeks after revelations of continued cutting millions of dollars in funding to the ABC.
“The ABC has suffered from repeated budget cuts under the Coalition Government, some $783 million since 2014, and is now cutting jobs and news services to stay afloat. If there is money to go around for broadcasting, it should go to the ABC and SBS.
“The PM needs to reverse the funding cuts to the ABC. He can easily find the first $10 million by taking it back from Murdoch and putting it where it will be the most benefit to broadcasting and promoting women’s sport and where fans can actually watch it without forking out more money,” Hanson-Young said.
The LNP job Keeper and Seeker schemes give $$ to companies not individuals so don’t allay anxiety and the need to work. A universal stimulus package would take that pressure off families allowing individuals to confidently comply. The uncertainty of the LNP benefits and support schemes does the opposite. So Victoria’s economic success story jobs jobs jobs now make it it’s own worst enemy in a pandemic. Jobs remain a necessity but are an increased uncertainty for families and with borders locked puts added pressure on the individuals supporting them. As Job Keeper doesn’t go directly to them and seeker isn’t enough. Contagion and the unseen and unknown risk is not as an immediate compliance stick as the need to work is. With the guarantee of a universal benefit scheme, we would not see what’s currently happening (ODT)

Frydenberg comes with hat in hand (ODT)
It seems that nationalism has a price. It also seems we aren’t necessarily ready to accept the price. To demonstrate the point, consider this
This week, Treasurer Josh Frydenberg called on industry and retail superannuation funds to invest more in Australian businesses, saying he “would like to see them both put to work on domestic infrastructure assets more than they have been”.
With most super funds carrying about 20 to 25 per cent of their investments in Australian companies, the Future Fund’s latest report on March 31 has it looking decidedly lean with only 6.1 per cent, or $9.87 billion, held in Australian shares.
One senior investment analyst — who asked not to be named — told The New Daily Mr Frydenberg should be asking Mr Costello “when is the Future Fund going to join Team Australia?”
The Future Fund holds more than $44 billion in global and emerging markets, while holding a cash balance of $15.59 billion or 9.6 per cent, and a similar amount in easily converted debt securities.
Its assets are designed to provide long-term investment in infrastructure, education, disability services, medical research and Indigenous services.
The Future Fund is Australia’s sovereign investment fund. Former Coalition Treasurer Peter Costello is the current Chairperson.

The Morrison Government have been do-nothing -followers since Morrison became PM.
Days after the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) hit out at the Morrison government for not having a vision to reinvigorate the nation’s economy through a jobs-creation strategy, they unveiled one of their own on Monday.

The money should be there to secure individuals not zombie companies that employ force people to stay in businesses they know will go broke. In comments from the Oval Office on Monday, President Donald Trump intensified rising fears that his administration will deploy federal agents to Democrat-led cities across the country to replicate a widely condemned crackdown in Portland, Oregon that critics charge is not only authoritarian but part of the president’s effort to win a second term by stoking division and chaos.
All the data will no longer go to the CDC, or Fauci’s Dept of National Health but the White House to be politically sanitized. Trump is about to disappear COVID-19 from America before November.

Will Morrison say “Like the ABC we didn’t cut anything this was the normal result of an Efficiency Review? (ODT)
Of course, they won’t Frydenberg refused to call it a cut it’s an “extension” an “efficiency measure”. This government hates individuals and prefers organisations
even zombie organisations to give money to. Giving money to employers doesn’t guarantee to make the staff feel any more secure.
Giving organisations the opportunity to increase their debt even less so. Wher is the “giving”? (ODT)

A landmark review into Australia’s national environment laws has called for a major overhaul, including establishing an “independent cop” to oversee them.
Key points:
- The 124-page interim report comes 20 years after the laws were first implemented by the Howard government
- The report’s author has called for a “strong, independent cop” on the environment beat
- The Federal Government has accepted some recommendations, but rejected the report’s call for an independent regulator
“The foundation of the report was that there is too much focus on process and not enough focus on outcomes and that should be changed entirely,” Graeme Samuel, the review’s independent author, said.
He concluded that Australia’s environment was getting worse under the laws designed to protect it.

The tax paid by superannuation funds on their earnings is often less than 10%, much lower than the headline rate of 15%, according to research by the University of Technology Sydney. And in an industry worth $2.7 trillion, this means a huge difference in the tax take for government. Callum Foote reports.

There aren’t any easy answers here, but let’s at least be honest about the problem. If we’re going to talk about political correctness, let’s start with the truth about the kind of PC that matters most: the political correctness that is literally killing us.
