The consequence of neutering the ABC and allowing the consolidation of private media has resulted in the media chaos we now experiencing. Privatization has been sold as the big dream but it has only resulted in Oligarchs, a Plutocracy, and a concentration of interests that doesn’t allow diversification to thrive or a political party to serve all citizens the best.
Australia can’t be a functioning democracy unless voters understand policy platforms on offer and the stakes. Unless we properly control dis- and misinformation in the civic space, we have little chance to vote well. Albanese must find a backbone for his own sake as well as the nation’s.

I knew the gas cartel had been too quiet for too long. Something had to be brewing, and what a doozy it was.
Unique in the world for energy producers, the east coast of Australia has no domestic reservation regime for its gas reserves.
Even now, amid a spaghetti bowl of regulation and price controls, there is still no effective domestic reservation.
Over the past decade, this has allowed China-beholden foreign capital to create a gas export cartel that has:
- delivered the east coast economy perpetual gas and electricity price shocks;
- hollowed-out industry;
- derailed decarbonisation;
- ripped hundreds of billions of out of the economy;
- built cheap China weapons while robbing us of the capacity to build our own;
- forced Aussie households and businesses to subsidise pan-Asian households and businesses;
- cost five prime ministers their jobs, and
- delivered a completely unnecessary inflation shock that is destabilising a sixth.
It’s not like it doesn’t matter or anything. Yet nobody cares, and the mainstream media never writes about it.

This is certainly the case in Australia, where education is less a pursuit of knowledge as the acquiring of a commodity, laid out spam for so much return. On that vast island continent, the university, dominated by a largely semi-literate and utterly unaccountable management, is a place where secrets are buried, concealed with a gleeful dedication verging on mania.

If we think it didn’t and isn’t happening here. If Christo-Fascism isn’t here then why is Black Arm Band History seen as dangerous? Why was John Howard cosying up with Australian Christian cults? Scott Morrison and 9 Pentecostalism formed part of the LNP government, and Why was the battle for a Degree in Western Culture deemed so important? Tony Abbott turned education from a system for gaining knowledge into a specialist recruitment and training degree at the tertiary level and an Assimilation program at at primary and secondary levels just as America continues to do
The key to understanding the Ramsay Centre for Western Civilisation is that it’s not merely about Western civilisation but in favour of it. The fact that it is ‘for’ the cultural inheritance of countries such as ours, rather than just interested in it, makes it distinctive. The fact that respect for our heritage has largely been absent for at least a generation in our premier teaching and academic institutions makes the Ramsay Centre not just timely but necessary. – Former prime minister Tony Abbott, in Quadrant, May 2018
The U.S. Constitution is under attack. Christo-fascists are trying to turn a secular document into a religious proclamation. They want their Jesus back in public schools, prayer before classes, and the Ten Commandments plastered on all four walls with End Times nonsense whispered into the ear of every student in the land. Politicians are finding methods like school vouchers to get tax money into church coffers and drive development of Christian schools, diminishing the viability of public education, and the banning of books they find offensive. Numerous guaranteed rights in the founding document are being quickly abandoned for purposes of political expediency.
And no place is working harder to undo the law than Texas.

Israel’s propaganda team proves themselves to be not just fraudsters but real failures at what they do. Their military snipers are free to kill people leaving the hospital yet they order people to evacuate assuming terrorists won’t? On one particular video tour lights, camera, and action, a military spokesperson points to the evidence that the hospital was a terrorist hive, a list of terrorist names on a wall, that happens not to be names at all but an everyday Arabic Calendar. All this performance to justify their destruction and mitigate their killing of babies and critically ill patients by cutting the power to the hospital. Then demanding the evacuation of everybody under the threat of death expecting the terrorists will stay. All theater of the absurd
Israel’s history has been one of lying to its citizens, its allies, and the world and it continues lying by spending as much on media control of the narrative as they do on weaponry.
The Israeli Defence Force has released “proof” that Hamas was using Gaza’s main hospital as a command centre after raiding the compound.
Source: Israel releases ‘proof’ of ‘terror’ HQ at Al Shifa hospital

Every time Israel tries to prove their point they have failed miserably.
In fact, when the history of supposedly damning revelations about Shifa hospital providing cover for Hamas military activities are examined more carefully it becomes clear that it has been no more than a thinly veiled excuse for the IDF to attack and close down Gaza’s most important provider of medical care for the population of Gaza.
The time has come for a reckoning on the long-running IDF propaganda ploy of claiming that Shifa has been used to hide Hamas’s command center.
Unless the IDF can show journalists convincing evidence of that long-claimed Hamas command presence under the hospital, the should stand for the truth and denounce that massive Israeli deception about Gaza.

The Israeli media has been interpreting the October 7 attack as ‘reaching Holocaust levels’, or as ‘an equivalent of the 9-11 attack in the US’: and in an atmosphere of fear and anger, Israeli citizens are said to perceive the Hamas slaughter as a threat to the country’s existence. In Australia, to defend Israel, to stifle critics of the bombing of Gaza, and to follow Prime Minister Netanyahu’s polarisation of choices between good and evil, between civilisation or barbarism, between a powerful law-abiding country or Hamas terrorists, charges of anti-Semitism are being weaponised.

If a Jew raises these issues in the contemporary setting of the war, then the libel and slander of antisemite and self-hating Jew will closely follow. The dogs and masters of war have even turned against the Jewish ideas of repairing the world and not doing to others what a person does not want done to them. It’s not antiwar Jews who need a huge mirror held above our collective selves, but the Zionists and warmongers who need that mirror handed over to them. Their ugliness and hate in that reflection and on the ground are apparent and blinding.

The Final Solution Let Israelis’s leave Israel
Moreover, open immigration of Israelis to these countries should be instituted, such that any of them who desires to can emigrate from Israel and make a new home. Special programs should be set up to offer them job training and integration into local communities.
One poll this summer found that nearly a third of Israelis wish to emigrate, in part over pessimism about the country given the extremist governments attempts to gut the Supreme Court. The number could be higher today.
Of Israel’s 7 million Jews, at any one time about a million of them are living abroad. Whether because their visas run out or because their jobs were downsized, or out of homesickness, most of them ultimately used to return to Israel. But now a recent poll finds that half of the current generation living abroad, some 500,000 people, have no plans to return.
Britain, it caused the whole problem of the Israeli-Palestinian dispute with its double-dealing during World War I and its asinine Balfour Declaration that promised Jews a homeland in Palestine while promising that the Palestinians would not be disadvantaged by it. Now that the horrid Suella Braverman is gone, maybe the UK can adopt a saner immigration policy. And part of it should be free immigration of Israelis.
Since there are really only 6 million Israeli Jews left in Israel, if each of the major North Atlantic countries just took in half a million, they could all flee the unpleasantness of drones, rockets, and terror attacks, and the even greater trauma of being ruled by far right extremists Binyamin Netanyahu, Bezalel Smotrich and Itamar Ben-Gvir. In this way, the Europeans wouldn’t even have to admit the traumatized, ethnically cleansed Palestinians of Gaza, who could finally go back to their homes in southern Israel, from which their families were expelled in 1948.

A new generation of people have now been drawn by the mass struggles not only into pro-Palestine activity, but into anti-war – if not anti-imperialist – consciousness.
A new section of activists – particularly trade unionists – has been inspired to stop the shipment of goods to and from Israel.

Keeping foreign minister Bob Carr in check, “watching” journalists at the ABC, lobbying prime ministers. Mark Leibler has a few tricks up his sleeve when it comes to power and influence. Jommy Tee and Michael West reveal the master lobbyist’s playbook in his own words.
Mark Leibler is the tax lawyer, Australian Jewish community leader and staunch Israel defender behind the initiative to get six former Australian prime ministers to sign a letter in favour of Israel in Gaza. Paul Keating, the notable living exception to this line of signatories, famously outed Leibler as the man behind the strategy.
Leibler has been an influential player in Australian politics for decades, a Zionist community leader with the ear of successive prime ministers and media chiefs.
On Monday night’s Q+A program on the ABC, Leibler – in his role as chairman of the Australia Israel & Jewish Affairs Council (AIJAC) – was involved in a tense debate on Israel and Gaza, which has reverberated on social media since. Much of the criticism centred around what many viewers believed was preferential treatment given to Leibler by host Patricia Karvelas over the UN and Palestinian representatives on the show.

On October 7, when Hamas prosecuted its unholy massacre it did more than slaughter human victims. It punctured as well Israel’s image as a sophisticatedly armed, righteous military power that over the years the world has come to share.

Oakland, Ca. (Special to Informed Comment; Feature) – I grieve for the people of Israel and Palestine, both of whom are being abused and terrorized by their own governments and leadership. Hamas is not a legitimate government, and is not Islam. Zionism is not Judaism. Hamas and the Israeli government have used their own people’s lives as pawns in a gross political game. By razing Gaza as badly as Dresden in WWII, the Israeli government quickly burned through any diplomatic and global sympathy it had gained from the Hamas murders of 1,200 innocent Israelis and kidnapping 240 more.

The task before us is one of restoration. It is to take language back, to renew its life, to wrest it from the deadening influence of institutions, bureaucracies, and corporate media — these having deformed language into an instrument for the enforcement of conformity. This is why every shout and placard heard or seen in London or many other cities these days is important, an act of significance and worth.
Clear language is an instrument — unadorned, written and spoken plainly, colloquial in the best sense of this term but perfectly capable of subtlety and complexity. It is the language of history, not myth.
This language is spoken not in the cause of empire but always in the human cause. “Free Palestine,” “From the river to the sea”: These are two-word and six-word examples of the language I describe.
This is the language necessary to confront power rather than accommodate it. It is language that presumes the utility of intelligence and critical thought. It is meant for the posing of many worthy questions. It is unreservedly dedicated to enlarging what is sayable in hostile response to “the great unsayable,” as I call it.

how do we explain that when fleeing residents, traveling on a road Israel identified as a “safe route” to the south, are hit by a deadly air strike not a single voice on mainstream media is heard criticizing the assault? Nor do we hear any outrage when bombs are dropped in the middle of one of the most crowded neighborhoods in Jabalia refugee camp or when missiles strike a convoy of ambulances. For most Israelis, “winning” currently seems to justify almost any violence.

Israel’s Decisive Solution- The Smoritch Solution.
In the latter territory, demographic concerns will be ameliorated by offering the 3 million Palestinian residents a choice: to renounce their national aspirations and continue living on their land in an inferior status, or to emigrate abroad. If, instead, they choose to take up arms against Israel, they will be identified as terrorists and the Israeli army will set about “killing those who need to be killed.” When asked at a meeting, in which he presented his plan to religious-Zionist figures, if he also meant killing families, women, and children, Smotrich replied: “In war as in war.”

“These journalists were accomplices in crimes against humanity; their actions were contrary to professional ethics,” said a post from the X account of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. Another, from Benny Gantz — currently a minister without portfolio in Israel’s war cabinet — asserted: “Journalists found to have known about the massacre, and still chose to stand as idle bystanders while children were slaughtered — are no different than terrorists and should be treated as such.”
However, even a cursory examination of the investigation’s claims revealed major discrepancies. While it asserted, for example, that the journalists “happened to be at the border just in time for Hamas’ infiltration,” the photographers’ documentation itself shows that they were not near the Gaza fence when it was first breached at 6:30 a.m. In fact, they arrived there two hours later, when residents of Gaza were already streaming into Israel and Israeli hostages were already being taken back to the Strip by Hamas and other fighters.
Indeed, the allegations against the Palestinian journalists appear to be completely baseless. Gil Hoffman, Honest Reporting’s director and a former longtime correspondent at the Jerusalem Post, admitted as much two days after the report’s publication, in response to refutations issued by the four outlets implicated by the claims: Associated Press, Reuters, CNN, and The New York Times.

The resounding defeat of the recent Voice to Parliament referendum is another case in point. It reveals a lack of understanding of the historical nature of violence against Indigenous people, the racist foundations of settler Australia, and how these continue to impact communities today.

No doubt some of you will think we made a mistake in that first sentence. The Uluru page was created in 2017, during the Coalition Government’s tenure. The now resigned Coalition Minister, Ken Wyatt, as Indigenous Affairs Minister, submitted a final report in July 2021 to the Morrison Government, which designed and funded the Voice with $7.3 million.
The Morrison Government, under former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg‘s direction, subsequently included $160 million in the 2019 Budget for the Voice Referendum, assuring Australia a referendum within three years.
Frydenberg openly supported the Voice and expressed confidence that it would succeed:

In the early hours of that fateful morning, October 7th 2023, the silence was broken by a wake-up call like no other. A group of Palestinian freedom fighters, young men who had never known anything but occupation, siege, and subjugation shook the Israeli Occupation foundations to the core. Like birds of prey, those fighters flew on their motorcycles over the electronic steel fence, breached that same fence on their jeeps and attacked the illegal settlements on the periphery of the besieged Gaza Strip. They killed 1400 people and captured over 200 others. The casualties were a mixture of Israeli soldiers, reservists and, of course, civilians. And the cry for Freedom and basic human dignity reverberated across the land.

ASPI ‘s Peter Jennings has no qualms about sounding like a member of America’s NRMA when he clearly says over 11,000 civilian deaths half children and some further 30,000 injured that we know about are the fault of Hamas and not Israel. Furthermore that, Israel has the right to defend itself even when the number of Israeli deaths first released on October 7th are falling and witnesses have declared many were killed by Israeli gunfire. On what planet does this paid Australian government advisor and Israeli propagandist live?
How many more unaccounted bodies are buried under that rubble? Jenning’s claim is that the current Gazan body count isn’t to be believed. It’s an overquote by Hamas. If there’s any misquoting it’s from Jennings the head of our Australian Strategic Policy Institute. How many of those 240 Israeli hostages have been killed by Israel’s destruction of those “tunnels” under the 30 hospitals and countless schools? According to Israel Hamas 100’s of “headquarters” are strategically pinpointed and obliterated along with it their own hostages. France bans Peace for Palestine marches but encourages what they call Anti-Semitism ones? However, marches against genocide aren’t anti-Semitic. But marches against anti-Semitism are a media term for Pro-Israel organized by the French far right-wing Party of Marie Le Penn. Hardly a protest against anti-Semitism and pro-Israel but more a protest against Macron.
However, why has this made bigger headlines here in Australia? Particularly when Jews for Peace are marching against Israel in the thousands and closing Central Station NY down and it doesn’t really get reported?
Our media frames protests against Israeli genocide and West Bank dispossession as anti-Semitic rather than protesting these actions as war crimes as defined by International law? Why are they seemingly supporting the current disastrous Israeli action? Netanyahu is currently the world’s greatest Anti-Semite.

Israel’s repeated shelling in the vicinity of hospitals and clinics in Gaza has led 20 of 38 hospitals to close their doors to patients, since they lacked the electricity, medicine and functioning equipment they needed to treat patients. The Israeli government’s cut-off of electricity has killed premature babies in incubators, diabetes patients on dialysis, and other people with health crises. The al-Shifa medical complex in the northern Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City had valiantly attempted to continue to function, having had stores of fuel for its generators, and even though its gate was shelled by the Israelis on Friday and there was bombing all around it as Israeli troops advanced on it as though it were Hamburger Hill in an old Vietnam war movie. Attacking hospitals and ambulances is strictly forbidden in international law even if enemy combatants are sited there. It is a war crime. According to Peter Jennings head of ASPI (Australian Strategic Policy Institute) “Israel is simply defending itself carefully and within international and humanitarian rules”. Israel’s allies have claimed that it “is not deliberately trying to kill civilians” (US National Security Council spokesperson John Kirby) and is “taking every precaution to avoid harming civilians” (UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak).
Such claims are hard to square with the massive devastation Israel has inflicted. As of 10 November, over 11,000 people in Gaza were reported killed, including more than 4,500 children, and at least 45 percent of housing units were reported damaged or destroyed.
Finally, claims that Israel is striving to protect civilians in Gaza are most hard to square with how Israeli officials have presented the current onslaught:
