My thought for the day Would you rather play in a team of champions or a champion team? ( John Lord )
So, what comes out of all this rejection of Murdoch and his acolytes? There are still some good sports pages to read and pics galore, but I wouldn’t trust the politics.
In debating their tactics with colleagues and friends, I have noticed that the Sky (and Fox) viewership seems to be marked by a collective personality disorder whereby the viewer feels almost as though they’ve been let into a secret society. Arguably, this has been the election in which the bias of its tilted reporting has been exposed?
When the polls have been analysed to the nth degree, and all the data is done and dusted, one of the biggest stories of this election will be how Murdoch’s News Corp failed to have the desired influence on the result. From newspapers to television; it has become impotent. Maybe forever. I want to think so.

My thought for the day I find it impossible to imagine that the Australian people could be so gullible as to elect for a fourth term a government that has performed so miserably in the first three. My thought for the day For the life of me I fail to understand how anyone could vote for a party who thinks the existing education and health systems are adequately funded and addresses the needs of the disadvantaged. ( John Lord )
Put Morrison and his proxies LAST above and below the line

My thought for the day When a political party deliberately withholds information the voter needs to make an informed, balanced and reasoned assessment of how it is being governed. It is lying by omission. It is also tantamount to the manipulation of our democracy.( John Lord )

My thought for the day “The gross national product does not allow for the health of our children, the quality of their education, or the joy of their play. It does not include the beauty of our poetry or the strength of our marriages … It measures neither our wit nor our courage; neither our wisdom or our learning; neither our compassion nor our devotion to our country; it measures everything, in short, except that which makes life worthwhile.” (Robert Kennedy, 1968). My thought for the day At the time of the election, the Coalition will have been in power for nine exhausting years and want you to give them another three. What, as a legacy, do they have to show for it? Has this Government raised your standard of living? ( John Lord )

My thoughts for the day With the budget coming up in a few days, something has been on my mind for some time. My thought for the day Often our opinions are based on our values rather than our understanding, and the difficulty is separating the two.( John Lord )

My thought for the day One of Scott Morrison’s most outstanding dexterities is his ability to sell his falsehoods and have people believe them. Unfortunately, too many voters consider him worthy of their vote at a time when change is badly needed. Australia cannot afford another term of this dishonest man and his government. ( John Lord )

Rachael Withers in The Monthly
“Writing in The Wall Street Journal on Tuesday (Murdoch’s American Masthead) (and dutifully republished by The Australian), former PM Tony Abbott joined the raft of commentators trying to link Russia’s invasion to a “weakened” West’s obsession with social and environmental issues.”
Withers continued:
“He went on to criticise all three members of AUKUS for their focus on reducing emissions, implying that it was this that had emasculated the West (along with globalisation, “cultural Marxists”, COVID restrictions and the fact that you couldn’t even make Monty Python’s Life of Brian these days).”

Herald Sun columnist Andrew Bolt never to be left out of a bit of truth bashing, was not far behind ( simply paraphrasing) what he’d said
“… the war in Ukraine has exposed the lethal danger of falling for green myths … Russian president Vladimir Putin would never have dared invade Ukraine if the green movement hadn’t first made Europe look helpless,” he added.
All Abbott ever does when he enters the realm of serious discussion is highlight the fact that he was grossly unsuitable for the office of Prime Minister of Australia. However, the most pressing matters regarding climate action came out of all this unworldly nonsense.

My thought for the day I think accepting and embracing change is one key aspect of what we try to define as wisdom.( John Lord )

Election diary No. 15: Wednesday, 2 March 2022. That I’m using the word “war” in my heading is unfortunate; however, it is what it is. Has Morrison stepped away from Murdoch? Will he? The ALP did years ago and Albo certainly has. Don’t be fooled. The Left isn’t cheering Russia. Murdoch’s Fox News certainly is and Morrison is showering him with money as is Australian Oligarch Clive Palmer and the many other non-progressive transactional interests and their dark money. Australia has dropped on the International Corruption Ladder under Morrison who won’t deliver an ICAC because it will damn him and his team. Vote for the common good not for the pigs with their heads in the trough.

In the 1996 election, the silent majority spoke, and Australia voted for a more peaceful future, and that’s not what they got. From Howard on, conservatives have given us cultural upheaval and political ratbaggery. It seems to work for them.
The conservatives have been in power for almost nine years. By their incompetence and adherence to ideology, they have stuffed up so many things that a likely mantra for Labor is “Let’s change for the better.”
So, in March 1996, Australia opted for a bit of calm. Years later, after a succession of failed prime ministers, the conservatives continue their abysmal flirtation with corruption and bad governance to the point where you couldn’t trust them as far as you could kick them.

Why is it people like Trump can gain voters’ attention but those on the left don’t seem to be able to do the same as Whitlam and Hawke once did? Their enthusiasm was contagious. I dare say it’s to do with the a shift in the media more so than the politicians. Bill Shorten and Albanese have both been regarded as as inspiring speakers in the ALP. Plibersek has a great media presence next to them Morrison Frydenberg look incompetent. But the media guarantees that, that in fact, won’t happen.

My thought for the day When a political party deliberately withholds information that the voter needs to make an informed, balanced and reasoned assessment of how it is being governed. It is lying by omission. It is also tantamount to the manipulation of our democracy. ( John Lord )
PS: A comment by Kaye Lee on my last post is well worth repeating: “It’s not the comments that are the problem Scotty… it’s the lack of foresight of the Government in preparing for what would happen when they got rid of basically all restrictions at once and said to the unvaccinated go forth and party.”

My thought for the day Lying in the media is wrong at any time; however, it is even more so when they do it by deliberate omission. Murdoch’s papers seem to do it with impunity. ( John Lord )
