Israel’s Gaza Onslaught Continues as Concerns Rise Over Escalation With Hezbollah

Israel’s war in Gaza continued in full force on Saturday and Sunday, with at least 66 Palestinians killed in roughly the last 24 hours, as international attention shifted to concern about an all-out war with Lebanon following an attack on Israeli-controlled territory that killed 12 children, with international diplomats pushing for deescalation.

Experts are calling on U.S. diplomats not just to diffuse Israel-Hezbollah tensions but also to use its leverage, as the main arms supplier and backer of Israel, to bring an end to the assault on Gaza.

The U.S. Must Stop Arming Israel

The U.S. Must Stop Arming Israel

Congress applauded the genocide in Gaza, but Netanyahu’s speech showed the political consensus on Israel is over

Many believe that bipartisan support has been Israel’s greatest strategic asset. It’s no longer a consensus, and it is moving farther in a partisan direction. That can only be good news for advocates for Palestinian rights.

Most sensible Israel advocates don’t agree with that approach, but many of the more conservative Jewish Zionists and virtually all of the Christian Zionists are not prepared to compromise on Israel’s right to wage war, kill, and destroy wholesale in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, and beyond. This has already crippled Israel’s traditional bipartisan appeal, and if it continues, there will be more and more opportunities for advocacy for Palestinian rights in the Democratic Party.

Facts and figures confirm Murdoch’s minions are continually lying to you

We knew this would happen. As soon as preliminary insolvency figures to June showed a surge above previous years, it was inevitable that members of the craven news media would blame Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and Labor. So they did.

The Tortilla Curtain

No matter how many times Greg Abbott and Trump lie about her being a failed “border czar,” Harris’ responsibility was to mitigate the root causes of migration, which, unsurprisingly, she accomplished. Initiatives established by the Biden Administration and instituted by Harris have included numerous investments in jobs for the region by American corporations.

  1. Gap committed to increasing its material sourcing from Central America, aiming for $150 million and is expected to create 5,000 additional jobs in the region.
  2. Visa plans to invest $270 million over the next five years to integrate more people and small- to medium-sized businesses into the global financial system
  3. AgroAmerica, a family-owned food corporation is investing $100 million across several projects, including a food ingredients refinery, a banana plantation, and an avocado plantation and processing plant, which will create 1,000 permanent jobs with living wages.
  4. Nespresso (Nestlé) is supporting over 7,500 coffee producers with regenerative agriculture practices and training.
  5. Target has committed to increasing its spending by $300 million in El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras by 2033.
  6. Columbia Sportswear plans to create over 6,900 jobs in the region by purchasing up to $200 million in products.
  7. Millicom is investing an additional $350 million by 2025 to expand and maintain its mobile and broadband networks in the region.

Those are plain and stubborn facts, not the political untruths being spread by Abbott and Trump. Lying, of course, has worked effectively in modern American politics, but there is a rising hope it’s time is almost done.

Israel specifically rejected the court’s finding that it is occupying Palestinian territory. The Biden administration has shown no sign that it intends to follow the ICJ’s command to stop supporting Israel’s illegal occupation.

No More Silence

If Zionist ideology ever fit into the modern world, and I will leave this an outstanding question, it no longer does.

“All of the disasters I’ve seen, combined — 40 mission trips, 30 years, Ground Zero, earthquakes, all of that combined — doesn’t equal the level of carnage that I saw against civilians in just my first week in Gaza…. I’ve seen more incinerated children than I’ve ever seen in my entire life, combined. I’ve seen more shredded children in just the first week … missing body parts, being crushed by buildings, the greatest majority, or bomb explosions, the next greatest majority. We’ve taken shrapnel as big as my thumb out of 8-year-olds.

And then there’s sniper bullets. I have two children that I have photographs of that were shot so perfectly in the chest, I couldn’t put my stethoscope over their heart more accurately, and directly on the side of the head, in the same child. No toddler gets shot twice by mistake by the ‘world’s best sniper.’ And they’re dead-center shots.”

ExtraForegone Conclusions: Paul Kagame Retains Power

Having laid waste to any viable, let alone sprouting opposition, the president has created conditions where any transition of power – when it comes – will be monstrously difficult. The shadow of the 1994 genocide is a long one indeed, and strong-man politics is a perilous formula for a smooth succession. Whatever the broader stated goals of Kagame for his country, he remains motivated by a desire to preserve the position of the Tutsis, keeping the rival Hutus in check. Ethnicity, far from vanishing as a consideration, retains an aggressively beating heart.

Netanyahu’s Speech Betrays Historic Jewish Values

Richard Silverstein, author and journalist of the Tikun Olam blog, which covers the Israeli national security state, joins host Robert Scheer on this episode of the Scheer Intelligence podcast to dive into Israeli history, its evolution and how its current stage fails to represent Judaism to the world.

For Silverstein, Netanyahu’s speech was nothing new as it was filled with the same ideas and tropes about the barbaric Arab and Muslim world against the civilized, Western, Judeo-Christian world. Silverstein said these thoughts, “exemplify a certain attitude and approach that has existed for decades in Israel.”

The current zeitgeist that exists in Israel today, whether it be through its government or settler population, does not represent any recognizable form of Judaism, Silverstein said. “This is why I’ve become an anti-Zionist, because I don’t want to be associated with an Israel that sees its religion as destroying the Palestinian existence in Israel; that kind of Judaism is horrific.”

Silverstein noted, “Israel betrayed the values I had as a liberal Zionist … and I think the genocide in Gaza has really sealed then put the nail in the coffin of Zionism.”

Kamala Harris denounces “Catastrophic levels of Food Insecurity” in Gaza

To pull it off, she will need to put forward more than well crafted phrases. And implementing rights for Palestinians while making Zionist Jews happy is no mean feat.

Activism-Canada set to revoke Jewish National Fund’s charitable status

Score a significant victory against apartheid, genocide and Canada’s most significant contribution to Palestinian dispossession. The powerful Jewish National Fund of Canada has reportedly had its charitable status revoked.

Under pressure from Independent Jewish Voices (IJV) and others the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) instigated an audit of the JNF in 2018. JNF Canada was eventually forced to differentiate itself from its parent organization in Israel and to stop “co-mingling” its funds with that organization. JNF Canada was also instructed to stop assisting projects in the illegally occupied West Bank and initiatives supporting the Israeli military. But, apparently it failed to fulfill the Revenue Agency’s requests and now the CRA has rescinded its ability to grant donors tax credits.

To date, Israel is on the best of diplomatic relations with Australia. Zero sanctions have been applied to Israel over any of their actions in Gaza, ambassadors are chummy and huggy, and pathetic expressions of concern, or grave concern, are the sternest we’ve gone. If the West, Australia included, continues to support Israel’s countless crimes against humanity, international law will become meaningless, and the hypocrisy will come back to haunt us all. The blood of the Palestinian people is a stain Israel and all of its allies will never wash away.

The miracle of Israelis turning the desert into a garden Halaluja has always been propaganda by the water-thieving Zionist Cult of Israel

The “Exploitation of natural resources” section (V/B.4, 124-133) was of particular interest to me. In it, the Court confirmed what I had set out to disclose, that Israel has used, misused and abused its illegal control over the water resources of Palestine to gain a permanent hold over all of the land.

The Court concluded that the occupied West Bank (especially Area C), rich in natural resources, has been used by Israel to the exclusive benefit of its own population, while disadvantaging Palestinians and their communities.  Area C covers 61 percent of the West Bank and is under the complete control of Israel.

Declaiming antisemitism: tribal solipsism or linguistic imperialism?

Einstein, Chomsky, Pappe, and Oppenheimer were all traitors

A large and rapidly growing contingent of (mainly younger, but also embraced by highly-respected older scholars and others) Jews is taking up the call ‘not in our name’. This movement repudiates the genocide, the Settler violence, and the Zionist imperialism attached to it. They recognise the necessity, the humanity and the decency of a just co-existence of the Semite tribes in Semite land.

That the charge of antisemitism is hurled at them demonstrates the ruthless ambition of the Zionist imperialist coterie. For them, Jewish ancestry is only available to Zionists and those who repudiate Zionism are traitors.

Which leaves the rest of us in the ironical position of watching the current Israeli government channelling, to a frightening degree, the very same characteristics, motives and actions as the Nazi government that inflicted the Holocaust upon its people.

In the name of humanity, this must be stopped and remediated.

Anti-refugeeism has been a Zionist project for anyone but Israel

According to UN sources, 274 aid workers and over 500 healthcare workers linked to the international organisation have been killed by the Israeli occupation forces. Indeed, not a single category of people has been spared: neither doctors nor civil defence workers, mayors or even traffic police, let alone the children, women and elderly.

Israel’s hate for UNRWA, however, stretches back long before the current war.
