Peter Dutton and Jaala Hinchcliffe

Peter Dutton covered up a lot of corruption in the previous government and one of his puppet’s he used to do the dirty work was Australian Commission for Law Enforcement Integrity (ACLEI) Commissioner Jaala Hinchcliffe.

After Jaala Hinchcliffe was appointed Commissioner of the ACLEI in 2020 she ended “16 corruption investigations, 13 of which were into Home Affairs”. And who was Minister for Home Affairs? Yep, Peter Dutton.

The question Dutton won’t answer is who is better placed to recommend effective action to improve the lives of indigenous communities than a group of people representing the communities? If he has a different answer to recognition, a ‘Voice to Parliament’ and treaty, perhaps he could tell the rest of us how it would work. Because the Coalition’s famed ‘interventions’ in recent history certainly haven’t.

Voice to parliament: Peter Dutton’s says ‘No’ with an American accent

Peter Dutton’s Voice strategy puts the Liberals in a spiral.

Dutton has brought the shame of American hate politics to Australia because the LNP have no politics or policies of their own to offer multicultural Australia.  Their only approach to the economy has been the chant “We are better money managers”! No, they proved that was false from the very day Abbott became the PM in 2013. They have, however, been better, Yes, at breaking promises, the nation’s bank and cultural disrupters. They have been at the forefront in attacking Immigrants, Muslims, Africans, and Chinese but even worse, Asylum Seekers and Indigenous First Nation People and their children. They have campaigned against LBTGI’s, mythologized Education, denied the real history of this nation, and embarrassed us in the face of the rest of the world chanting “we are white and the best”. They are purposely trying to divide us with the same tactics as applied in America by the extreme right of the Republican party.

As a consequence, they were thrown out of office with only Dutton who once offered to resign after being caught out publicly with Abbott and Morrison for their “Boom Gate” racist humor. Dutton was once head of the LNP’s extreme right’s Monkey Pod Room and was the only one wanting to be the Opposition leader after their election debacle. As soon as appointed he raced to America.

When in April Peter Dutton first announced his party’s opposition to a Yes vote, he spoke repeatedly of a “Canberra Voice”, an echo of the anti-Washington rhetoric that has become standard fare on the American right – populist politics 101. When last month in parliament he outlined his opposition in more detail, he again maligned the “Canberra Voice”, the “Canberra-based Voice” and the “Canberra knows best” approach of Anthony Albanese. His speech was replete with other US-style allusions.

First he seemed to be trying to elevate “our forefathers” who drafted the Constitution into an Australian equivalent of America’s founding fathers: patriots acclaimed with blind reverence, and sometimes even vested with powers of clairvoyance. “They were methodical, they were meticulous and they used their minds,” he said of these Australian penmen, “and, to their eternal credit and foresight, they produced a document which has created the greatest country in the world.”

As well as evoking an Australian version of American exceptionalism, he seemed intent on consecrating the 1901 Constitution with the same biblical status as its US counterpart: “Our Constitution has given us laws, liberties, protections and privileges which have forged the modern nation which we love and cherish today.”

The opposition leader seems intent on consecrating Australia’s 1901 Constitution with the same biblical status as its US counterpart.

Peter Dutton left with a difficult decision, after Julian Leeser’s stand blows big holes in his Voice argument – ABC News

Peter Dutton wearing black glasses standing in front of a blurry australian flag looking straight toward the camera

In the same way Peter Dutton targeted Africans as if they were all cut from the same cloth Australia-wide pointing to Dandenong as being representative of why our immigration policies have failed the nation. Meanwhile, Dandenong hasn’t been a national issue at all.  He’s gone to Alice Springs to declare Alice’s current indigenous issues reflect indigenous Australia and is in need of AFP policing and not a Voice. It’s exactly a mirror image of Trumpists in America

Dutton blows up 2800 cases as if they are representative of 3% 0f Australia’s 750,000k indigenous people that need policing. If that’s not the same racist argument we have heard for the past 250 years then what is. Particularly because it’s his reason for a “No” vote on the voice

If a reporter gets abused for simply asking “What is your evidence Mr Dutton?” The cop in Dutton reveals itself and The ABC blamed for not  simply amplifying Dutton’s politics as Murdoch does. Is Dutton really a leader in control with his finger on the pulse? Is he there to help the people of Alice or simply there to help himself?

Weeks ago Dutton claimed he’d spoken to “authorities on the ground” and when it was pointed out he hadn’t left his office he generated this trip. He said he’d spoken to lots of people “on the ground”. He’s standing alongside Jacinta Price “the lots” remain unnamed and haven’t rushed to support him saying “We spoke to Peter and provided him with his facts” Peter Dutton has a way of manufacturing misdirection, and in this case, it’s look at Alice’s problem as if it were an Australia wide problem. It’s a distraction to the issue really at hand ” The Right of First Nation’s People. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to Constitutional recognition and a  Voice” after 240 years.

Slow implosion of Liberal Party accelerates under Dutton

The facts are that the Liberal Party’s lurch to the far-distant depths of Right-wing politics began during the ’90s, so if anyone should claim credit for the inevitable destruction of the Liberal Party, it’s probably John Winston Howard.

How Howard screwed the Libs How Howard screwed the Libs John Howard somehow made his way into power in Australia, staying PM for 11 long years, yet his divisive legacy may marginalise the Liberal Party for far longer than that.

It’s true that Dutton is holding firm to the Coalition’s core policy framework, rooted as it has been in fear, hate and otherness, which helped to get Howard elected an inexplicable four times. And yes, this essentially unchanged platform also helped propel Abbott and Morrison into power, with a short stint from the not-quite-as-Right Turnbull thrown in.

But this extreme Right-wing stance was not really in full view until Morrison took it to new evangelical heights and displayed its glory for all to recoil.

NZ mother detained indefinitely under ‘God-like’ ministerial powers

‘The [Migration] Act confers a number of extraordinary and unusual powers on the Minister… [Emily] has been the object of the exercise of all these extraordinary powers, so it is little wonder she apprehends she is being victimised and/or punished.’

Peter Dutton a case that reflects the true authoritarian nature of the man

Now ten years old, Oliver hasn’t seen his mother outside of a detention centre since 2015. In those days, Oliver was just a preschooler, and he and his mother led quiet and unassuming lives. To understand why their lives unravelled, one must look back to events that took place prior to Oliver’s birth.

in 2020, Dutton exercised his personal power under section 501 to overturn the Tribunal’s decision and refuse Emily’s visa, arguing it was in the ‘national interest’ to keep her from entering the Australian community. At this point, Emily’s minor criminal conviction and infringement of immigration law had occurred over a decade ago, Oliver was still without a mother, and the threat to her life was still ongoing.

A trove of newly-released text messages and emails have laid bare how the right-wing media giant operated with little regard for fact in the weeks and months following the 2020 presidential election. The correspondence reveals that the network’s senior-most executives and highest-profile hosts chose not to disclose what they believed to be the truth of the election out of fear that that the facts would alienate Fox News’ audience and throw the highly profitable business into ruin.

Is Peter Dutton on a mission? – » The Australian Independent Media Network

Is Dutton just another naysayer?

His grandstanding about the Voice to Parliament is grating, because it seems to be playing a non-existent tune. The Voice has been explained, ad nauseum, as an advisory body, only.

It will not be a third chamber to the Parliament; it will not legislate. It will advise the mostly non-indigenous parliamentarians about purported effects of legislation affecting indigenous Australians. It will not advise on national security, nor will it advise on defence matters.

And yet, ignoring his seeming irrelevance in modern Australian political life, Dutton continues to be treated as if his concerns are real. As the Prime Minister bends further backward to appease Dutton, the rest of us are forced to watch, and listen, as he inches towards understanding.

The remaining two Liberal premiers today joined the Federal Government, and the other state premiers, in supporting the Voice to Parliament.

The list of Dutton’s shortcomings is long, and the electorate is not necessarily patient. I would advise the Opposition Leader to stop playing politics, to wake up to himself, and get on board. Good government needs good opposition.

Dutton is driving the Liberals off a cliff – and his colleagues are passengers watching on

The electorate has moved to the left but Peter Dutton continues to look right.

There’s a cult-like feel to today’s Liberal Party, with too many of its MPs meekly following their leader. As the electorate swings to the left, Peter Dutton continues to look to the right – it won’t win back the voters they lost.

It was never the subject of a formal announcement but at some stage in the past few years, the Liberal Party at the federal level seems to have ceased to be a conventional political organisation.

One pro-choice voice in the Parliament was that of Victorian Senator Ralph Babet, of the United Australia Party.

“Everyone should be able to make their own decisions as grown men or women,” he told The New Daily.

Peter Dutton’s legacy is a refugee processing nightmare

Soda for the Quinella of the worst Health, Immigration, Homeland, Defence and Opposition Leaders this Nation has ever seen. Morrison might have beaten him out of that record because of Immigration.

THE ADMINISTRATIVE law system for assessing asylum seekers in this country is straight out of the 17th Century. It is so complex and arcane that it prompted a Federal Court judge, Nye Perram, to say recently that of the 70,000 or so legal practitioners in Australia, he would be surprised if more than 200 had any idea how it worked.

Naturally, it has long since been abandoned by every other common law country in the world.

He doesn’t seem to realize he lost 20 seats in the last election. Slow on the uptake isn’t the word for interim opposition leader Peter Dutton.

The unequivocal message voters sent the Coalition at the election is completely lost on new Opposition Leader Peter Dutton.

“How Dutton thinks he can win these seats back by sticking to policies so dramatically rejected is curious,” according to one senior Labor insider.

The Liberal leader’s explanation indicates, at the very least, he is finding it hard to come to terms with the changed new order.

In the interview he said: “I’m making it very clear to the Labor Party now that we aren’t supporting the legislation, which is the position we took to the Australian people and millions of people voted for us on that basis.”

Millions didn’t, and this dog in the manger attitude is a recipe to maintain the status quo at best.
