How PR and the fog of corporate disinformation has governments paying to burn the planet – Michael West

Public relations is at the core of coal and gas industry influence which has governments actually incentivising the burning of the planet. Grant Ennis, who has just released the book Dark PR, explores how corporate disinformation campaigns allow this to happen.

How the Premier’s local bottle shop owner claimed he won $30 million of projects

Danial Andrews and Luckee Kohli on the campaign trail in 2018.

Amazing how a ” positive, progressive action” conducted in 2018 can

1) Make it to the Front Page of CH9’s The AGE in 2022 and be declared “corrupt”.

2) How a Good progressive action can be twisted and  turned on its head as if it were the equivalent of a LNP regressive vote-buying rort. Remind ourselves what the Sikh community has done for Victoria during Covid, the bush fires, and other emergencies and they have done it for nothing

3) The Age CH9 however is giving wind to a disgruntled female politician who happens to be Indian and is now claiming “bullying” by her party for having been dropped by the ALP. In a case of push back she has teamed with Adam Somyarek a proved to be corrupt politician also sanctioned by the ALP and facing legal action.

4) The Age is acting as a PR agency maintaing an equivalence exists with LNP rorts and that the ALP are acting as thugs in a State regarded as the most progressive in the country. Their bias is obvious.

Meanwhile, there’s a War going on in Europe, Covid is out of control yet Peter Costello’s Ch9 is running a point guard defensive distraction against Daniel Andrews why? Because Matthew Guy’s Liberals are falling apart at the seams in front of us. This is a flagrant example of a pathetic attempt at damage control. It’s not news but Mainstream private media acting as agents for the LNP in view of an advertising return come November and it’s another example of why we need to SAVE THE ABC.

“Making the enemy blind”: Did Israeli AF destroy Highrise housing AP and Al-Jazeera to Hide War Crimes?

The Associated Press is flatly denying the Israeli military’s cover story for why it bombarded the al-Jala tower in Gaza, which housed media offices of AP and al-Jazeera, and where dozens of journalists were based. Israel maintains that there was a Hamas intelligence unit in the building that was targeting Israel. This Israeli allegation is, of course, ridiculous. Hamas’s attacks on Israel are via little rockets with no guidance systems. A third of the Hamas rockets are so feeble that they actually land inside Gaza and have hurt Palestinians. The rockets fly blind and most land uselessly in the desert. So what would an “intelligence office” in an office building be doing that posed a danger to Israel? If they were on a computer on the internet, they could be anywhere– they didn’t have to be in the al-Jala.

ExxonMobil & 4 other Oil Giants Spent ExxonMobil & 4 other Oil Giants Spent $1 bn on Greenwashing PR, $100 bn on New Fossil Fuels bn on Greenwashing PR, 0 bn on New Fossil Fuels

Paris (AFP) – The five largest publicly listed oil and gas majors have spent $1 billion since the 2015 Paris climate deal on public relations or lobbying that is “overwhelmingly in conflict” with the landmark accord’s goals, a watchdog said Friday.

Despite outwardly committing to support the Paris agreement and its aim to limit global temperature rises, ExxonMobil, Shell, Chevron, BP and Total spend a total of $200 million a year on efforts “to operate and expand fossil fuel operations,” according to InfluenceMap, a pro-transparency monitor.

Australia should be wary of the Proud Boys and their violent, alt-right views – Analysis & Opinion – ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

We ran Yassmin Abdel Magied out of the country but invited these speakers in and News Corp gave them support, promotion and a platform to speak. (ODT)

Australia has become a destination for a legion of far-right speakers from North America and the UK in recent months.

Milo Yiannopoulos’ controversial visit last December resulted in violent clashes between protesters and a $50,000 bill for Yiannopoulos for extra policing. (He never paid it.) Nonetheless, Yiannopoulos is planning a return in late November.

In March, the Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson packed out auditoriums in three cities for speeches railing against feminism, political correctness and hate speech laws.

This was followed by the visits of Canadians Lauren Southern and Stefan Molyneaux, which sparked more anti-fascist protests and resulted in another large police bill that remains unpaid. Southern’s “It’s Okay to be White” T-shirt served as the inspiration for Senator Pauline Hanson’s recent motion declaring the same message.

And Brexit-er Nigel Farage toured Australia seven weeks later with his anti-immigration message.

None of these speakers has yet to attract an organised movement of followers in Australia. But these tours are certainly having an impact on society, as Senator Hanson’s motion illustrates.

An ABC investigation revealed that the NSW Young Nationals were infiltrated by members with links to the neo-Nazi fight club that provided security for the Southern/Molyneaux and Farage tours. And Yiannopoulos was even given a platform to speak at Parliament House, the invited guest of Senator David Leyonhjelm.

Benjamin Netanyahu is a fake supporter of democracy | +972 Magazine

Why aren’t Iranian Jews flocking to Israel? Why don’t we hear of those in Morocco? Why don’t we hear more about the Jewish opposition in Israel they throw rocks too but don’t get shot. (ODT)

Netanyahu’s support for Iranian dissidents is unabashedly cynical. It stems from short-term Realpolitik, by which democracy and freedom are worthy goals as long as they serve his political interests. The prime minister has no qualms about calling for democracy in Iran, Israel’s sworn enemy, while allying himself with some of the Middle East’s worst human rights violators. What else could explain his support for protests in Iran, his unease about democracy in the Arab world, and his hostility toward opposition at home by both citizens and non-citizens alike?

News Corp expands its pro-Trump fakenews despite failing U.S. economy

Most TV news reports over the weekend cherry-picked Friday’s data on January’s jobs. The statistics were a mix of good news and bad. Total jobs increased. But so did people looking for work. The jobless rate for women decreased. But for men, it increased. The overall jobless rate did not go up. It did not go down either. Wages increased over the year. So did inflation.

Naturally, the pro-Trump media highlighted only the positive — in stark contrast to their approach through the Obama years.

Media Bias of the ABC never mentioned by Andrew Bolt  Why Abbott is trailing in the polls despite his successes .

The Abbott Government has a far better record than its Labor predecessor, but in politics these days successes don’t make up for mistakes. The Prime Minister needs a year of clear air.
