In Israel, Religious Zionism’s End-of-Days hope for “Red Cow” emboldens Extremism

Settlers are awaiting the appearance of a ‘blemish free’ red cow, which, according to Judaism, is central to the prediction about the “end of times”, and therefore paves the way for the acceleration of the destruction of Al-Aqsa Mosque to make way for the so-called Temple.

‘The Greatest Fighting Force in Human History’ – The Perpetual Wars You Aren’t Supposed to Notice – scheerpost.com

IIn his message to the troops prior to the July 4th weekend, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin offered high praise indeed. “We have the greatest fighting force in human history,” he tweeted, connecting that claim to the U.S. having patriots of all colors, creeds, and backgrounds “who bravely volunteer to defend our country and our values.”

…… yes, the U.S. military is indeed exceptional and being so, being #1 (or claiming you are anyway) means never having to say you’re sorry, no matter how many innocents you kill or maim, how many lives you disrupt and destroy, how many lies you tell.

Was Morrison ever caught on camera by News Photographers or Paid and Bought Freelancers? ” Lights Camera Action ” feed the press.

The current chancellor, Olaf Scholz, is also proving stellar in his own right: 21,808 euros was spent on hair and makeup in 2023, and 38,910 euros the previous year. These totals would be questionable at the best of times, but Scholz’s case is even odder. How do you justify generous remunerations to hairstylists for someone with little to no hair to work with? Is the pate particularly delicate, requiring tender care? German taxpayers must be pondering the mysteries.

What do climate denialists say when the facts change? – Pearls and Irritations

Contrary opinions. One hand, thumb in the air, gives a favourable opinion, another thumb pointed down, opposes it.

Remember when Andrew Bolt kept telling us the world was “cooling”. He no longer does but parrots off that the proposed “solutions” to climate change are wrong. Has the worm really turned?

The indefatigable Creighton does though use one of the most recent versions of the denialist position with the proviso: “Noone denies that climate changes. It always has, for reasons obviously unrelated to human activity. The question is how much of its our fault”.

for some time now, researchers have suggested that the balance of arguments propagated by climate sceptics or denialists has shifted from denying or undermining climate science to challenging policy solutions designed to reduce emissions.

“To comprehend the truth and not act upon it – is there a greater sin than this? Knowledge masked is murder.”

We might also take solace in all this with A.E.Housman’s “The house of delusions is cheap to build, but drafty to live in, and ready at any instance to fall…..It is and it must in the long run be better for a man to see things as they are than to be ignorant of them.”

But then it’s hard to see things clearly if you read Adam Creighton and watch Fox news or Sky After Dark.

The two openers for the New Pakistan  : Caught and bowled by Imran Khan

For a year and a half, Pakistani politics has been gripped by word of a diplomatic cable said to describe U.S. State Department officials encouraging the removal of former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan from power. Last week, The Intercept published the contents of the cable, known internally as a cypher, which revealed U.S. diplomats pressing for the removal of Khan over his neutral stance on the conflict in Ukraine.

Since it was published, the response to the story from Pakistani and U.S. officials has been both defensive and contradictory.

Uncovering Israeli Propaganda: Wars to Wage with Words to Bamboozle – CounterPunch.org

For 75 years, Israel has been waging an ideological war to manufacture a legitimacy it does not have. Fissures, however, are now visible in Israel’s carefully crafted and managed narrative.

What is taking place in Occupied Palestine is clearly not a “conflict,” a word which implies a fight between two people with equal political and military resources and equal claims.  And while the media perfunctorily describes Israel as a “democratic state,” they avoid using the more accurate “apartheid state” description.

In light of the open racism of Israel’s extremist government, and the unrestrained violence of Jewish “settler-colonists,” the country is finding it increasingly difficult to whitewash its entrenched apartheid system in occupied Palestine.

Tired of Donald Trump surviving each new outrage? Blame Bill Clinton

WTF What’s going on?

In the age of Donald Trump, not even 91 criminal charges – which, remember, is 91 more than his predecessors combined – puts him out of the presidential running. On the contrary. Trump’s grand slam of criminal indictments in New York, Miami, Washington DC and now Atlanta – and all in the same calendar year – has solidified his lead in the Republican primary race. What explains the change?

Assange be Wary: The Dangers of a US Plea Deal – » The Australian Independent Media Network

The American Deal has always been a RIGGED DECK.

The deal: First YOU PLEAD GUILTY THEN – It has never changed since the days of signing the historic and broken Treaties with the Indian Nations that saw them locked up on Reservations or Jails

Should any plea deal be successfully reached and implemented, thereby making Assange admit guilt, the terms of his return to Australia, assuming he survives any stint on US soil, will be onerous. In effect, the US would merely be changing the prison warden while adjusting the terms of observation. In place of British prison wardens will be Australian overseers unlikely to ever take kindly to the publication of national security information.

Media Capitalism is where the ratings are the product for sale anything else is merely a tool in the manufacture of the rating numbers. The “camp followers” are the numbers attempting to follow and replicate the biggest Rupert Murdoch’s Fox News

As president, Trump was fully enmeshed in the alternate reality spun by his TV propagandists. He would spend hours a day watching right-wing cable news channels and sent nearly 1,300 tweets in response to Fox News and Fox Business alone from September 2018 to the end of his presidency. Trump treated Fox hosts as members of his kitchen cabinet, enacting policy based on what he saw on their shows and seeking their counsel in private. People would go on his favorite channels seeking to influence his administration’s decision-making, at times snaring government contracts or presidential clemency because he happened to be watching.

Australian multiculturalism: Our greatest achievement? – Pearls and Irritations

Melbourne Australia - December 3, 2018: Unidentified people cross street in downtown Melbourne Australia.

Immigration has dramatically changed Australia, mainly for the better. I don’t think any country has done it as well. If I could be more precise, I think Australia has benefited most from refugees. Whilst the first generation of refugees may often lack skills and education, they more than make up for it in enterprise, courage and risk-taking. That enterprise and high aspirations are often expressed through their children. Refugees are by definition risk-takers who will abandon all for a new life. They select themselves much better than a migration officer can ever select them.

The Coalition Hate Childless People! – » The Australian Independent Media Network

Now let me make it clear that I have nothing against people being in business and making a buck. After all, this is a capitalist system and I’m not going to suggest that those benevolent employers who only exist to give people jobs should be the first to be lined up against the wall and shot when the revolution comes. However, it does strike me as a little inconsistent when businesses argue that they’re the ones taking the risks and so they should be entitled to great rewards, only to turn around and say that the risk didn’t work out so someone should do something because life shouldn’t be this unfair when they’ve taken the risk and started/taken over/inherited a business. We all remember how some businesses took the JobKeeper money and kept it, even though they made a profit and there was no obligation on them to establish that they lost revenue during the pandemic. They didn’t even have to prove their parental status.

Not too quick: Tax Office dithering on Lendlease scam puts whistleblowers at risk – Michael West

Lendlease, ATO, whistleblowers

How many corporate directors or managers are today sitting in our jails? How many even went through the justice process? It’s generally a rapid process for those now sitting in jail for mental health, addiction, and poverty reasons. Some like Indigenous Australians too quick. Getting out is hard and back in too easy.

If Lendlease tax whistleblower goes down in court while the Tax Office continues to dither for more than four years enforcing its ‘double dipping’ rules against the property giant, the question could well be asked, why would anybody do the right thing and blow the whistle again? A “Plea Deal” Julian is required to plead Guilty. Now that’s what America calls a bargain

The United States is considering a plea deal that would allow WikiLeaks founder and whistleblower Julian Assange to return to Australia, the Sydney Morning Herald reported Monday.

U.S. Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy told the Morning Herald that there could be a “resolution” to Assange’s now-four-year detention in Britain. Assange, an Australian citizen, has been held in a London prison since 2019 while combating U.S. extradition efforts. He faces 18 criminal charges in the U.S., 17 of which allege violations of the Espionage Act.

Sixteen Young People in Montana Just Won a Historic Climate Lawsuit – Mother Jones

Two white youths raise their fists into the air in celebration. They stand next to a bright blue sign that partially reads "Montana Youth Making." In the background, others give high fives.

Would Dan allow a decision like this to happen in Australia? Or would kids trying to sue the State in Australia be decreed “Vexatious Litigants” and have them arrested for contempt?

A healthy climate is included in your constitutional rights, at least if you live in Montana. On Monday, District Court Judge Kathy Seeley sided with the 16 young plaintiffs who sued Montana three years ago, arguing that its pro–fossil fuels legislation violated their right to a safe environment. Seeley ruled in the case, Held v. Montana, that “plaintiffs have a fundamental constitutional right to a clean and healthful environment, which includes climate as part of the environmental life support system.”

Chris Hedges: Robert F. Kennedy Jr. – The Israel Lobby’s Useful Idiot – scheerpost.com

The combination of the blood line related requirements to be considered Jewish by the Orthodox Rabbinical Court and the restriction of marriage requiring religious ceremonies shows an intent to maintain race purity. At its core, this is no different than the desire for pure blooded Aryans in Nazi Germany or pure blooded whites in the Jim Crow Southern United States.

Those who support these discriminatory laws and embrace Israeli apartheid are blinded by willful ignorance, racism or cynicism. Their goal is to dehumanize Palestinians, champion an intolerant Jewish chauvinism and entice the naïve and the gullible into justifying the unjustifiable. Kennedy, bereft of a moral compass and a belief system rooted in verifiable fact, has not only failed the Palestinians, he has failed us.

A lot is made of the comparison between this referendum and the 1999 referendum on a republic, which took that question off the table for at least a generation. There is one fundamental difference, however: the Liberal–National Coalition is a spent force in Australian politics and, with its track record on climate change, women’s rights, integrity in politics and marriage equality, its opposition to the Voice may well relegate it to an irretrievable status, a place of opprobrium and irrelevance from which it may never recapture an electorate weary of hateful culture wars.”

And this year, we have an opportunity to recognise first Australians in our constitution and give them a say on the issues that matter to their communities.
