Rossleigh Remembering My Love For Linda Reynolds…

Linda Reynold’s mother testified that it was very hard for her daughter going from “being universally loved and respected to becoming a pariah.”

Undoubtedly it would be a very hard thing when this happens to a person. Although, in the interests of clarity, I must say that I’m having trouble remembering my respect and love for the woman. I guess that must just be one of those things that happen with age when you forget someone who meant so much to you and it’s very, very distressing for them… not so much for you, because you can’t remember them and you don’t understand why they’re having heart palpitations and all those people who still remember how much they love them are worried that they may not last the night… which would be terrible because they have a speech the next day!

Anyway, notwithstanding my inability to remember the Linda Reynolds that I loved universally, I must say that I’m a little confused by much of the testimony at the trial. Perhaps wiser legal heads than mine can explain why Senator Reynolds health is of so much importance in this trial…

Linda Reynolds launches defamation action against Brittany Higgins’s partner David Sharaz – ABC News

Liberal senator Linda Reynolds is suing Brittany Higgins’s partner over tweets he made that she alleges defamed her.

Ms Higgins was working in Ms Reynolds’ Canberra Ministerial office when she was allegedly raped by a colleague.

Subsequent legal proceedings against the accused were abandoned in October and then a planned retrial was dropped by the prosecution.

In fresh court documents lodged in Western Australia’s Supreme Court, Ms Reynolds has accused Mr Higgins’s partner, David Sharaz, of defaming her in two tweets from the account @SharazDavid in January and December last year.

In the writ issued through her lawyer, Martin Bennett, Ms Reynolds alleged the tweets were “falsely defamatory” and thereby caused her “loss and damage”.

The Perth-based senator is demanding Mr Sharaz pay aggravated damages and interest at a rate of 6 per cent since they were published.

Reynolds, Robert, Molan and Hastie all ex-military personnel. It says a lot about the militaristic character they brought with them to Australia’s parliament.

The Australian Capital Territory’s top prosecutor privately complained of the “disturbing” conduct of former cabinet minister Linda Reynolds during the trial of Bruce Lehrmann, including her alleged coaching of his defence team, her attempt to solicit transcripts and the presence of her partner in court.

Guardian Australia revealed last week that the director of public prosecutions, Shane Drumgold SC, had sent a letter of complaint to the chief of police, Neil Gaughan, on 1 November, just after the trial against Lehrmann collapsed.

Lehrmann, who has consistently maintained his innocence, pleaded not guilty to one charge of sexual intercourse without consent. The collapse of his trial leaves him with the presumption of innocence.

NDIS independent assessments will be introduced this year despite concerns and mistrust

NDIS Minister Linda Reynolds remains committed to introducing legislation for independent assessments this year.

The new Minister for the National Disability Insurance Scheme has stood behind a plan to introduce independent assessments for people with disabilities by the end of the year, but conceded in budget estimates hearing the original plan needed more work. National Disability Insurance Scheme Minister Linda Reynolds told senate estimates on Friday afternoon it became clear when she took on the portfolio there was “significant concern” about the independent assessment process and the way it was being communicated.
