“Nationals… Clueless about our Political Structures – The Fiberal Party of Australia – Lies & Misdemeanours |

We're not all equal in politics. Littleproud should know this

When Australia’s Politicians don’t have a clue about Civics they shouldn’t be in the job

If Littleproud wants an equal voice in the Parliament for all Australians, Tasmania should lose two members of the House of Representatives and lose 11 senators. South Australia should lose 10 senators. To be consistent Littleproud should be either advocating that or acknowledging that in the Australian constitutional compact there is a deliberate recognition that smaller entities require greater representation.

But the founding fathers specifically excluded one of those smaller entities – the First Nations or Indigenous people. The constitution stated they were not to be counted in the censuses which determined representation in the Parliament.

That was partly rectified by the 1967 referendum. But there was still no recognition and no mechanism to prevent Indigenous people being ignored or mistreated, even if they got to vote in their state of residence. And the poor treatment continues to this day.

The logic of the constitution calls for that recognition as does a sense of fairness and a practical need to do something about entrenched Indigenous inequality that might work when all else has failed: listening. People in the small states should especially support that. Or agree to back their extra senators.

Hating Barnaby Joyce: is it him, or is it us? – Michael West

Fractured Australia

Hating Barnaby Hating Scott Hating Barnaby Hating….

In campaign debates, in radio stations, television studios, people to people encounters all over the nation, the name Barnaby Joyce comes up as the biggest brake on Australia making a greater commitment to reducing its greenhouse gas emissions. Does the leader of the National Party deserve the brickbats? Maybe we should look to our backyards, writes Mark Sawyer.

Paul Bongiorno: Morrison’s win over Nationals looking like a pyrrhic victory

Ironically the Prime Minister and his fellow converts in the News Corp tabloids around the nation on Monday were trumpeting the opportunities net zero will present for jobs and growth something they all decried as reckless at the 2019 election. Mr Morrison in question time ridiculed Labor for not having a plan to reach the 30-year target apparently oblivious to the fact that so far he hasn’t taken the nation into his confidence about his hitherto secret plan. Hopefully before he boards his plane on Thursday all will be revealed. Either way he won’t be asking the Parliament to do anything about it.

Paul Bongiorno: Nationals’ theatre of absurd drains government credibility

Paul Bongiorno

A four-hour meeting of the 21 Nats on Sunday ended without a conclusion, despite assurances from Energy Minister Angus Taylor their coal backers and fossil fuels mates would be receiving billions worth of sweeteners. Mr Joyce insists his party is “not chained to a script,” he derides modelling put up by anybody – the Business Council, CSIRO, the government, you name them – as make believe. Further undermining whatever decision the government arrives at is the sniping from former resources minister Matt Canavan, who on his arrival back in Canberra told the media scrum “the Prime Minister doesn’t have a plan, he has a dream”.

‘Peak ridiculous’: Nationals’ $250 billion mining fund slammed

Nationals

The Party whose pro “small” government has taken on a pro-corporate Socialist bent. They advocate the building and restoration of unwanted coal-fired power stations along with investing in international mining corporations. Funding enterprises banks won’t touch. The LNP refuse to help the poor but will readily finance failing corporations.

A Nationals proposal to create a $250 billion mining fund in exchange for support of net zero by 2050 has been labelled “completely crazy” as government infighting over climate targets mounts before the Glasgow climate summit later this month. Nationals MP and Resources Minister Keith Pitt said on Thursday that taxpayer money should be used to prop up miners if and when banks refuse to give them loans.

Nationals MPs fear ‘vindictive’ reshuffle of cabinet posts rewarding Barnaby Joyce backers

Some Nationals fear the reshuffle will drive out those loyal to former leader Michael McCormack (front) despite Barnaby Joyce’s promise to try to unite the party after the leadership spill.

86 View all comments Nationals MPs fear a ruthless reshuffle of their federal cabinet posts to reward those who voted for Barnaby Joyce to lead the party, amid Labor scorn that he will join a cabinet taskforce on women’s safety.

The only jobs the Nats are concerned about are their own – » The Australian Independent Media Network

When you have a leader whose most memorable contribution has been a rather tragic Elvis impersonation, I guess it’s understandable that the natives might get restless. But in the last few weeks, the Nats have gone so far off reservation they seem to be occupying a totally different universe.

But, that’s the way we always do it in the National Party! – » The Australian Independent Media Network

McKenzie is now Agriculture Minister and Deputy Leader of the National Party and her comments today fall into the categories of ;

that’s the way we always do things in the coalition. Otherwise how would we win ?
My career is going quite nicely, thank you. So please don’t rock the boat.

We should sack the National Office of Audit as they are clearly all Lefties

You all need to take a cold shower because we won the election : so there !

Are you from the ABC ?

So far, the Prime Minister hasn’t commented but in true Westminster fashion it is fully expected that he will sack McKenzie before the week is out … or perhaps not.

EDITORIAL: Something stinks in the Coalition and it’s not just dead fish

Murray-Darling gross mismanagement

While then Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Agriculture and Water Barnaby Joyce was busy building up his “private” media brand enough to rival the Kardashians, under his watch, management of the Murray-Darling Basin was steadily careering out of control.

Perhaps the most damning part of this whole stinking mess is best summed up with this one little detail concerning the chief beneficiary of Coalition Government water policy, Webster Limited:

‘Webster, a Tasmanian company, is also one of Australia’s biggest water traders. Its shareholders include Australian Food and Fibre, which is controlled by the Robinson family, a major donor to the National Party.
