“Islam” and “the West” are no longer useful Terms: No ‘Clash of Civilizations’ in a Globalized World

We know whose side Bolt’s so why does he call himself an Agnostic? (ODT)

“Islam” and “the West” are no longer helpful banners behind which any of us should enthusiastically rally. There really is no clash of civilisations here, not least because the notion of “civilisation”, Islamic or Western, really doesn’t have any purchase in a globalised world.

It is a struggle between liberals and conservatives, fundamentalists and moderates, reason and revelation. It is a battle within theologies between a God who is thought to be knowable through nature, man and history and a God who is thought to be only knowable through the revelations contained in the inerrant pages of the Torah, the New Testament or the Quran.

Political currency of hatred too dangerous and divisive to ignore

A ludicrous tweet about Muslims exposes ignorant thinking, but also provoked some delicious responses.

Enough is enough. We now need some straight talking: from mainstream Muslims, but also from the leaders of the West.

home » India-News » India Australia: Gurdwara in target of anti-Islamic slurs

Australian readers of News Corp are the pride of Aussie bigotry they found the Muslims they were looking for. I think they had their hoods on back to front.

A newly-built Sikh gurdwara has been vandalised and painted with obscene messages and anti-Islamic slurs in Australia’s Perth city.

The multi-million dollar gurdwara in Bennett Springs was painted with the words like “Aussie pride” and “go home”, ABC reported. Security cameras of the gurdwara were also damaged. “We are from India, particularly from Punjab, we have got no relation with any other religion.

We are Sikhs and our religion is totally different from any other religion,” said the pastor Satjit Singh.

He said the vandalism was very upsetting and the damage could cost up to $50,000 to repair. I’m ashamed because I’m also a citizen and someone who is a citizen here has done it, he said. “It hurts me, and I believe it’s insulting to the Australian community and the people.”

The treasurer of the gurdwara, Aman Deep Singh, said it was very hurtful. “Whoever has done this, he has done a shameful act, and also, please get your knowledge right,” Aman Deep said. “Make the difference between Arabs and Sikhs and above all we all are here, we have left our businesses, jobs. They have done so much damage.

They have not actually just done the damage to this temple, they have done the damage to the whole country,” he said. He said these “shameful acts” damaged the progress of the country.

Labor MP Margaret Quirk said the racial slurs showed “complete ignorance”. “Most of the people that worship in this temple are in fact Australian citizens and this of all weeks; it’s particularly shocking,” she said. Sikh soldiers were beside Aussie soldiers at Gallipoli and so this week of course we remember that it’s the centenary of our soldiers going to Gallipoli and we serve next to many soldiers who were of the Sikh religion, she said.

“It would be no less acceptable if this was done on a mosque but it does show the calibre of the people that are doing this graffiti. I think racially and religiously motivated vilification and graffiti should be stamped on immediately,” she said.

“On behalf of the West Australian community I certainly want to apologise to my friends in the Sikh community that they have to put up with this rubbish,” she added. The incident has occured few days after two Perth mosques and an Islamic school were vandalised and had been painted with slogans against Islam.

Are there any other countries advertising in this manner?

The Australian government is warning Pakistani asylum-seekers against attempting to illegally enter the country.

In an advertisement printed in Pakistani newspapers on Friday, the Australian government warned readers against getting duped by people smugglers claiming they can transport them to Australian waters in hopes of getting asylum.

Written in bold at the top of the advertisement are the words: “NO WAY. You will not make Australia home.”

“If you get on a boat without a visa , you will not end up in Australia. Any vessel seeing to illegally enter Australia will be intercepted and safely removed beyond Australian waters,” reads the advertisement.

It adds that the rules apply to all: “Families, children, unaccompanied children, educated and skilled”.

The ad is worded in English, Urdu, Pashto, Dari, and Hazargi languages.

“No matter who you are or where you are from, you will not make Australia home. Think again before you waste your money. People smugglers are lying,” warns the Australian government.

The advertisement is part of a campaign “Operation Sovereign Borders”, a military-led border security initiative by the government to combat maritime people smuggling and protect Australia’s borders.

“Australia is serious about protecting its borders and will stop anyone who attempts to come illegally by boat…[People] should not believe the lies of smugglers and there is no way they will make Australia home,” warns the government on the OSB website.

Australia has toughened its policy on asylum-seekers in recent years, with those arriving on unauthorised boats now refused residency in Australia even if they are deemed refugees.

Instead they are held in detention camps on nearby islands and are expected to be resettled in those countries if their claims are valid.

The Australian government has come under increased scrutiny for its treatment of asylum seekers, but the government claims its policies are meant to prevent people risking their lives at sea.

Christianity, is the foundation of our freedoms according to Andrew Bolt the man who maintains I’m not a Christian. 6/10/2014

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/opinion/islams-violent-tendencies/story-fni0ffxg-1227080641770

The man with bilge for  brain gives yet another one of his interpretations of the history of the world. A thumbnail sketch that wouldn’t fit on the back of a stamp. Freedom had nothing to do with Christianity the concept of citizen was Greek the separation of  church and state had a much greater impact. Bolt seems to have overlooked the influence of the French Revolution.

The idiot says the “the names of organizations  tell the story” is he for real? Does the KKK spell Christian Racists? Did the Branch Davidians  tell their stories? Did Jones Town represent Bolt’s Christian ‘s ideal of freedom? They and many others like them made claims to the true Christianity. Where was the freedom in any of it? The Church of Scientology according to Bolt it’s in the name. The Boers in South Africa justified the lack of freedom  in their version of Christ message. So a mix Sunni radicals calling themselves Daesh, IS whatever they  aren’t representative of Islam.

Oh ISIL claiming to have a mandate means fuck all crazies throughout history claim mandates shit Tony Abbott claims a mandate for all sorts of things strange who amongst the Islamic world believe IS has a mandate ” Some non-Muslims might believe they  have a mandate and have converted. Some Muslims might as well however the majority don’t. Sunni and Shia  in India aren’t slaughtering each other. In Indonesia homosexuals, transvestites and transgender persons aren’t killed or stoned to death. Women are educated run for the highest office in the land and run businesses more so than here.

Again Bolt’s fact three  is totally meaningless. It’s strange that Bolt a professed non-Christian believes in  and quotes the bible as fact. The fact of  Christs  life. He sounds like a Dutch Calvinist a Reformationist. The bible is the word. That book has been interpreted and reinterpreted over the years so much it has people dancing with snakes in the name of god. Speaking in tongues in the name of god. Justifying violence against the state in the name of god ( Timothy Mcveigh).  Christians have slaughtered apostates throughout history and found it biblically justified. Here we have Bolt a declared non believer telling us the word. What a bullshit artist the man is and such a bad one at that

The Nazi’s had an ideology maybe not god at the centre. Social Darwinism the natural order the evolution of things. It was an Ideology nevertheless  to justify their existence. Eugenics was their proof. God wasn’t a central tenet  so it had no guilt breaking any agreements it made with the Catholic church. Science ,Eugenics were nominated as their god

“Islam’s violent tendencies” is Bolt’s unsophisticated figment and simplistic justification for his Ultra Racism

What no innuendo, no speculation by Bolt and the muckraking media? Abbott’s participation in the Coalition of Concern and it’s public amplification put a target on this man’s back which read AUSTRALIAN. He never made it home.

Syed Musawi, the Australian man tortured and killed in Afghanistan

Australian Sayed Habib Musawi ‘tortured, killed by Taliban’

AUSTRALIAN officials are trying to confirm reports a dual citizen has been tortured and killed by the Taliban in Afghanistan.

The family of 56-year-old Sydney resident Sayed Habib Musawi have told the Guardian Australia his body was found on Tuesday with signs he was tortured before being killed.

The ABC reports Mr Musawi was was pulled off a bus by Taliban militants between Kabul and Ghazni province, where he was visiting family.

Ghazni’s deputy governor Mohammad Ali Ahmadi said Mr Musawi was targeted for being an Australian citizen.

“Of course the reason is that he was an Afghan-Australian,” Mr Ahmadi told the ABC’s AM program today.

“He didn’t do anything besides that – he didn’t do anything wrong, he wasn’t a criminal, he wasn’t involved in government activities.

Mr Musawi had lived in Australia since 2000. Source: Supplied

Mr Musawi had lived in Australia since 2000 and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is providing his family with consular assistance. “The Australian Embassy in Kabul continues to seek to confirm reports an Australian-Afghan dual national has been killed in Afghanistan,” a department spokesman told AAP.

“The area where these events reportedly occurred is contested by the Taliban and it will be difficult to obtain definitive and official confirmation of the man’s death from the Afghanistan government.”

Mr Musawi’s 23-year-old son Nemat Musawi told ABC radio this morning that the family was “devastated”.

“It seems like it was all set up, because they just stopped the bus on the way to Ghazni and then they just went straight to my dad,” he said.

“Everyone has been in shock, it’s just unbelievable,” Mr Musawi’s daughter Kubra Musawi told the Guardian.“He’s an Australian citizen and yet nothing’s happened yet.

Ms Musawi, who lives in the Sydney suburb of Berala, says she wants DFAT to “find out how the Taliban knew how [her] dad was going back to Kabul”.

“He wasn’t anything to do with the government there. They just wanted to stop him coming back to Australia. I don’t want anyone else to experience this. Every minute we think of my brother’s family who are still there, I can’t study or work because of the stress of it.”

Habib’s wife and youngest son, who lives in Melbourne, travelled to his funeral in Jaghori, where he was buried.

Afghanistan remains listed as a “do not travel” destination under Australian government advice to travellers.

Our shock-jock hate mongers like Andrew Bolt put a target on this woman’s back that cried Muslim. She never made it home either.

What we have is of no useful purpose. A frenzy of supposition that has divided us.

The Cold War, and Vietnam were ASIO’s hay day they lied and made things up then. There is no reason to believe they won’t do it again coupled with the media what chance do we have in this illusion of democracy.

opener

It should never have come to this

about recent incidents involving members of Australia’s Muslim communities. The media is not making any effort to minimise the hysteria that is developing.  To constantly speculate about aspects that have no foundation will cause great harm.

Publishing the wrong photo of the man who attacked two police officers in Melbourne’s South-East by the Fairfax media this week was disgraceful. The ramifications of such an error could have been enormous if any subsequent harm came to the innocent man concerned.

Prior to the 1990s, there was no issue in our country with Muslims. There may well have been an underlying, simmering degree of discontent in certain quarters.

dark sideThere are people among us who continually harbour a suspicion that those who are different and culturally unusual, are somehow a threat to our way of life.  Ignorance breeds contempt. Many in the community are already spooked enough.

A man paying too much attention to his iPad causes Sydney Airport’s Terminal 3 to go into lockdown. A Virgin Airlines low level fly over at the MCG on Saturday, caused an AFP officer to reach for his gun.

What has made our country so tolerant and so successful at peaceful integration in the past has much to do with our egalitarianism, the absence of a class structure and our layback approach.  Up until 1996, immigration was always managed on a bipartisan policy agreement.

It enabled a post-Vietnam War exodus of refugees to seek a safe haven here with not so much as a whimper of opposition. They came in their thousands and in a matter of a few years had established themselves as hard working, diligent members of society. It was just what we needed. Our already broad cosmopolitan make-up was richer for the experience.

hansonPrior to the 1996 election Pauline Hanson tapped a racial intensity of feeling in the electorate and won her seat even after the Liberal party disowned her.

When her One Nation Party had won over a large chunk of Liberal voters in a Queensland State election, that was the beginning of the end of immigration bipartisanship in Australian politics.

Just 5 years later, John Howard seized an opportunity to win an election with the Tampa incident by appealing to the same racially minded mentality. From that point on, to our national shame, the issue of immigration and management of refugees has become a game of political football.

But it wasn’t Asians that bore the brunt of this new degenerate attitude. Greatly assisted by our engagement in a falsely contrived war in Iraq, the fear of Muslims became a dark, festering disease covertly encouraged by certain sections of the media. Its nakedly, aggressive manner is a blight on a once welcoming nation and is covertly urged on by vested political interests.

morrisonIn 2011, Scott Morrison, as Opposition Immigration spokesman, “urged the shadow cabinet to capitalise on the electorate’s growing concerns about “Muslim immigration”, “Muslims in Australia” and the “inability” of Muslim migrants to integrate.”

And, we know the mindset of Scott Morrison. We also know the mindset of Cory Bernadi. Who else in government thinks this way? By their actions, or lack of them, we will know them. How can we possibly begin to reverse this attitude when government members are so vocal?

Democracy does not serve us well when elected representatives act in a manner that creates division. It is counterproductive. It may suit the interests of some but in the long term, everyone pays.

From the mouth of Melbournes worst vilifier government supporter and Abbott’s mate…. Andrew Bolt.

“I say “myth” because of one telling fact above all: this country actually has as many Buddhists as Muslims. Yet where are the Buddhist terrorist plots? Where are the angry complaints about “alienation”? Where the warnings to change our foreign policies … or else?”

The buffoon opens his mouth and out come the flies so filled with Islamic hate he must have a gut full of maggots. Andrew Bolt this government isn’t waging war in any Buddhist,Hindu,Sikh or Confucian country. The last time we did we got into a lot of shit and lost. It was called Vietnam and you would have rushed in if you wern’t too young wouldn’t you. Europeans were at risk sitting in public places and soldiers took off their uniforms then in Saigon. A young Mike Carlton was and  experienced the brutality of war up close and personal, unlike you. How do you think we’d go if we entered the fight in Punjab ,Amaritsar  at the Golden Temple and we started taking out the rebel Sikhs that were crying out for independence?

“It is that belief which has already landed 21 Muslims in jail for previous terrorist plots against Australians.”

You make thing up  as you go along its bullshit. Who are the 21 convicted persons in jail cretin are they some of the ones found  not guilty Mr Bolt. As for deaths caused by these conspirators none. Maybe you need to be reminded of Andrew Knight  he was not a Muslim. He was a trained cadet though from Melbourne High who knew the meaning of alienation.

With regard to 1000 bombs a man like yourself calls Obama piss weak and Abbott strong a true blue world leader  who you openly encourage to humanitarian bomb (an oxymoron) another nations citizens in the hope of degrading a criminal element without UN sanction. Bombing in itself is indiscriminant and your up for it. Your  far more dangerous because you incite a mate who has the capacity however you wont do it in public  will you only behind the security of locked doors.

You accuse  the multitude of critics of the terrorist raids as being conspiracy theorists. What a lode of cock  and it’s all in your mouth. It’s common sense  when you give a government department $650 million  that it’s going to be eager to show that spend was justified. If that justification seems like an overkill in the secret operation of 800 personnel raiding Australian citizen houses in a public televised and photographed event 3 days after the PM announced “we have no specific intel”. The questions are reasonable. Particularly when the Murdoch Press falsely headlined plots of beheadings when there were none. That the raids were instigated on one phone call the information withheld due to “operational matters” and more so  that the departments running the gig have fucked up so badly in the past. How Dr Muhummed Haneef at the behest of Kevin Andrews under the Howard government was put under control in jail. How Kevin Andrews refused tell where his information was sourced from. Tht the court findings revealed that ASIO and the AFP had given Andrews contradictory reports due to the cock up of an over zealous agent wanting to please. Then yes Andrew Bolt we are entitled to ask questions and make suggestions on how this all seems to fit so well for the government. Andrews thought it did back in 2007 as well.

Climb back under your rock Bolt. Why doesn’t this government lay Section 18C charges against you? That’s every days question

Bolt never stops being a self serving one trick pony

If a parent keeps telling their  children not to speak to strangers  risks the development of inappropriate fear in their children. Social Psychology and Socialization theory tells us abuse breeds abuse, fear breeds fear. Andrew Bolt  a fear monger

Bolt protests antisemitism more than a Jew. He draws attention to it more than an antisemite. He attacks Islam more than people under threat of Islamists do. Israelis don’t  denigrate Islam Jews don’t Bolt does. Yazidis lived in the Iraq region 700 years they were accomodated as were Aramaic Christians. ISIL came to being and and changed that. Bolt simply says “see what Islam is doing”. He is the KKK who blames the black race for  smiling at his daughter. He’s the man who says it’s in the ‘nature’ of a Muslim if their angered when he calls them degenerate towel heads that don’t belong here.

Bolt drags out obscure selective pieces of evidence to prove his meaningless points. Basically he believes Islam is an inferior Culture which gives rise to inferior outcomes in their personal behavior.  He quotes a psychiatrist  Tanveer Ahmed anecdotal report of  “Muslims must face up to some bad apples “

Well given psychiatric training is generally pharmacological in it’s approach to mental illness and less social or psychological  Tanveer Ahmed is merely passing an opinion about parents of prisoners. He fails to mention that Lebanese are 7th per capita on ethnic groups in Australian prisons. That the top 4 after Aborigines are  all Christian.  So what’s Bolt’s point he never really does cut mustard. Tanveer Ahmed might well have said that Christian parents must face up to bad apples as they have more kids in jail than Muslims per capita New Zealanders, Samoans Tongans British etc.

What a gloat he is having at the moment Mike Carleton is being investigated under section 18C. Bolt also suggests his  leftie friends are there to rally behind him. Of course Bolt had no friends to do so for him when charged I believe. He railed against the Jewish community, prosecutor &   judge all Jewish  of him at the time and hints it will be the support and strength of the left that will get Carleton off. Nothing to do with the law was it Andrew.

Bolt holds himself up as the defender of the Jewish race.Yet he has re-posted the SMH  offending cartoon more times than anyone else. He raises the issue of antisemitism more times than anybody else and declares himself as Israel’s  greatest media defender. He  is so self serving.

Yesterday he allowed his supporters to suggest 2.2 – 2.8 billion Muslims  worldwide, that 28 million were dangerous fanatics and the numbers were on the rise. Sorry the updated count is 1.6 billion 60 different nationalities and 134 different languages not that unified. 317 mill in the Middle East and Nth Africa. The total number of fundamentalists being 15-20k only in Iraq. They are actually in coalition with Baathist and Sunni tribes  to get rid of the current government however it’s a temporary alliance of convenience. This is  more a civil war than an Islamic move for expansion. Terror is a weapon used  and abused in all wars think PolPot, Stalin Uganda Bosnia etc etc. It’s not peculiarly Islamic

WHO IS MORE DANGEROUS INTERNET RADICAL WANNABE CERANTONIO OR BOLT NEWSCORP PREACHER?

all preach and no action who is more dangerous?

An Islamic hate-preacher, now arrested in the Philippines, has paid tribute to Victoria’s education system:
Mr Cerantonio, who attended a small Catholic primary school in Footscray before enrolling in the former Footscray Technical College, described his high school as “a very liberal school”, influenced by the politics of socialism.“We didn’t have uniforms, we wouldn’t call our teachers by their [surnames] – they wanted to instil in us a sense of freedom, and [to follow] politics”.

In what Mr Cerantonio described as a “socialist and atheist” atmosphere, the teenager soon began seeking solace in religion.

What a Blockhead Andrew Bolt is alluding to the failure of the poorly run  state education system .
Duntroon produced countless sex offenders over the years in and out of uniform.
Julian Knight Victoria’s biggest mass murderer went to Melbourne High
Scotch and Melbourne Grammar had their notorious drug wars a few years back.
Scotch just recently had an ex teacher arrested in the Philipines for being part of a paedophile ring
Trinity was a noted hedge burning school.
The biggest white collar criminals this state has ever known. Criminals that have damaged the lives of more people in this country causing some of their victims to commit suicide  just with the stroke of a pen went to private schools. Remember Pyramid…Geelong grammar boys.
This air head tosser from Malvern Andrew Bolt hates his own audience. He has never been to Footscray probably never stopped in a working class suburb since his 30’s yet he was brought up in working class bush towns. He is a right wing snob an elitist.
Unless he is a totally different person at home to his public persona he will have a very difficult future with his kids as they grow mature and become educated. If he’s not genuine he will anyway.
I’m not defending Cerantonio he obviously has his own very real  problems which sent him off to the fringe as well. His hypocrisy may have been revealed but there will always be somebody to follow him. I don’t know if he had a violent past, but the present finds a  just a cheerleader much  like Bolt. Murdoch gave Bolt his platform the Internet Cerantonio’s. They are  different but the same and both  need to be brought to the attention of section 18c of the Racial Discrimination Act. Bolt of course wants it scrapped as it restricts him. There are all sorts of preachers in this country not everyone has Bolt’s platform. It makes him far more dangerous than Cerantonio.
