The rise of the Right-eous | The Shot

The right’s agenda is no longer about manipulating the media, it’s about manipulating reality. And it is not a conspiracy – it is business.

It’s the business of pushing right-wing agendas, the business of creating chaos, the business of maintaining power. If progressives don’t start understanding and accepting that this is now part of how you maintain political power, if they don’t accept that this is happening, if they don’t start pushing and spinning the ball of manipulation back, they will ultimately lose.

The Problem Isn’t “Polarization” — It’s Right-Wing Radicalization

There is no Left/Right Equivalence in America. There is only the Radicalisation of the Right. ISIS taught us the means and its being applied by the Christian Far-Right’s Fundamentalism in the USA. It’s reflected in Qanon, Alex Jones, the anti-abortion, anti-education, and pro-Militant MAGA groups like the American -Nazis, Oath Keepers and the Proud Boys all of which are fast becoming a Christian version of an ISIS in America where tolerance is eliminated as dangerous, and a pure Nation state created. ISIS was never simply seen as “Polarisation” but Muslim Radicalisation and the American right-wing admired them Israel, Kim Jong-un Orban and Putin for it.

Many liberal responses to Trumpism lament “polarization” on all sides. But the call to return to a sensible centrism ignores the real crises we face — falsely equating those who want to solve them with a far right who would make them worse.

Scott Morrison faces Liberal mutiny over Warringah candidate Katherine Deves’ trans views | Australian election 2022 | The Guardian

Scott Morrison

This Captain pick’s and narrows the once Broad and Liberal Church, the pride of John Howard, for a much narrower one. One filled with evangilists, bigots, and hate dividing Christians for the votes of a few extremist cults like QAnon. They are happily trampling on the lives of some trans-children’s hope.

“I don’t share Matt’s view. I share Tony Abott’s view,” Morrison said. “I’m not joining that pile on. Others may wish to, who fundamentally are seeking for her [Deves] not to be there. I suspect because they don’t like some of the things she’s talking about when it comes to women and girls and sport.”

Christianity, intolerance and Christopher Pearson

If there is a so-called heaven that the “good” go to after death, would we want to go there anyway? If it was to be full of Pentecostal politicians, bigoted sportspeople and a bunch of other rich but mean people, I think the answer is no thanks.

Two tribes go to war, and neither care about the real victims

When hate is wrong but all Right (ODT)

But this is also where things get complicated because the call has gained traction with a sizeable section of the population here, as it has in Europe. Not everyone receptive to the idea is a racist; they’re responding irrationally and simplistically to a rational fear of Islamist terrorism.

I want these calls to stop, but they’re unlikely to stop while Islamist attacks in the West continue. It’s why you can’t stare down and confront one toxic ideology without doing precisely the same to the other.

Society’s schizophrenia with sacred superstitions – » The Australian Independent Media Network

There was a war globally once between Catholics and Protestants to grasp power it hasn’t left the top echelons it’s simply less hidden and spoken about. Christians are divided and our census questions keep it hidden. Christianity is very divided and Conservatives want to keep it that way. (ODT)

Philosophical ethics and critical thinking provide the moral and ethical foundations that allow for a rational and compassionate approach to facing the challenges of life. It is long overdue that public education bureaucracies (in every state) provide these essential life-skills to all public school students. But we can expect the mythical Hell to freeze over long before private religious schools deign to teach PE and CT in place of religion! Will mainstream media ever step up and join the debate?

Jesus wasn’t white: he was a brown-skinned, Middle Eastern Jew. Here’s why that matters

He wasn’t a white man nor European

The problem is, Jesus was not white. You’d be forgiven for thinking otherwise if you’ve ever entered a Western church or visited an art gallery. But while there is no physical description of him in the Bible, there is also no doubt that the historical Jesus, the man who was executed by the Roman State in the first century CE, was a brown-skinned, Middle Eastern Jew.

This is not controversial from a scholarly point of view, but somehow it is a forgotten detail for many of the millions of Christians who will gather to celebrate Easter this week.

Pastor Rapes Teen, Church Asks Victim To Apologize To Pastor’s Wife

To make matters worse for the young victim, officials at the Columbia Road Baptist Church blamed and shamed the girl, forbidding her entire family from attending services until she apologized to the youth pastor’s wife.

Australian Conservatives believe White Western Christian Culture is definitively Australian and should be in our Constitution. Ex President of Malaysia still believes Australian elite are Europhiles and aren’t an ASEAN nation. Peter Dutton and Tony Abbott agree as do media men like Andrew Bolt. If only 25% of Australians claim to be Christian and they consist of Indigenous, Pacific Islanders, Sudanese, Lebanese and other minorities logic dictates Conservatives are talking BS as they don’t welcome these immigrants or refugees into the country. It seems their 25% falls to much less than  18%. and if one considers their extreme factions as exceptional. These Conservatives have a voice which actually represents less than 3% of Australians. Ergo the are amouse that Murdoch allows to roar and their constituents are made up of Christians that appear as bent as radical Islamists but unfortunately have an easier pathway to guns in America and and advocate in Peter Dutton in Australia who wants our gun laws eased.( Old Dog Thought )

. In reality, it was more an act of insolent appropriation and absorption of what was Moorish by the enemy. It was a gesture that epitomised the aggressively hostile ethos of the Reconquest, which manifested itself in a latent desire to usurp and eliminate that culture and religion. That desire finally became a reality in 1609, when all Moriscos or converted Muslims were expelled from Spain.

Christian Lobby claims it needs hate speech to argue against same-sex marriage – » The Australian Independent Media Network

In a new and bitter twist in the ongoing debate about the plebiscite we’re having because politicians lack the courage to do the job they were elected to do and just change the damn marriage laws, Lyle Shelton, managing director of the right-wing fundamentalist Australian Christian Lobby, has now called for anti discrimination laws forbidding hate…
