AFR fudges figures to foment anti-Albanese fervour

AFR’s   FAKE NEWS  and PATHETIC  EXCUSE

1) The AFR is part of the Nine Entertainment media organisation, whose chairman is former Liberal Party federal Treasurer Peter Costello.

2) Error one: Worst outcome in the developed world

 AFR shows real household disposable income per person to June 2023 for only 21 countries. That’s out of 66 very high development nations, according to UNDP classification, or 38 wealthy members of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation Oops!!

3)It did not clarify, a) that inflation is a global phenomenon nor b) that the unjust tax system and an economy in poor fiscal condition were both recently inherited from the hapless Coalition.

4)When we check the Senate Hansard for Thursday 9 November, we find the Opposition was not referencing the recent OECD analysis of 38 countries. The craven Coalition was simply quoting that morning’s AFR.

5) Recent history in Australia, Britain and the USA suggests that as the next federal election looms, the mainstream media will increase its output of distortions, exaggerations and fabrications. Such is Australia’s doom.

The mainstream media are ramping up efforts to malign the Albanese Labor Government unfairly, as Alan Austin reports.

Ch9 and it’s stable of journalists have been sorted OUT

Yet from Nine Entertainment’s chairman down to senior editors though this is an organisation of yes-men and yes-women. The likes of yours truly, Michael Pascoe, Mike Carleton, John Hewson – just to name a few – have been weeded out for failing to cower sufficiently to Nine’s advertisers and assorted corporate and political agendas.

Descending the greasy pole all the way down from Liberal Party heavyweight and fundraiser Peter Costello, we have Editorial Director James Chessell (who is an ex-Liberal staffer for Joe Hockey), his 2IC Tory Maguire (whose husband is a Liberal Party linked lobbyist), Editor in Chief of the AFR Michael Stutchbury, a true believer in the virtue of big business whose ideology is to the right of the Liberal Party.

On the radio front, it’s no accident that Nine owns 2GB and 3AW. On the TV front, it’s no accident Nine Network is now framing The Voice as “The Divisive Voice to Parliament“. This is unambiguous Coalition messaging.

Even when they do get distributed, the anecdotes of dysfunction in the system are manifest. For example, a GP who found himself with many more Pfizer doses about to expire than he could possibly use tried to swap them with a state health authority which could have used them up in a day and given him supply with a longer shelf life. But the Commonwealth would not facilitate this and recommended unused doses be destroyed. Friday’s national cabinet wasn’t a step forward, it was but a stark illustration of the problems in our vaccination rollout. The crumbling confidence in the national cabinet process to achieve unified purpose, and the gaslighting of our medical experts, doesn’t help. Nor does the spectacular lack of transparency about what vaccine supplies we have got coming, or what the government is doing about accelerating supplies in any way possible. Nor does the fact no one wants to say how much of the population needs to be vaccinated before we can open up. The magic numbers we need are the ones about vaccine supply.
