Trump is ‘toast’ if classified records case is proven

How long before he’s toast? Years it would seem. He’s been untouchable for 78-years. Trump has provided  an escape pathway model for every wealthy scammer in America and he’s revised the meaning of ” Untouchable”

Former US Attorney General William Barr has defended Special Counsel Jack Smith’s 37-count indictment against Donald Trump, saying if the allegations the former president wilfully retained hundreds of highly classified documents are proven true, then “he’s toast.”

“I was shocked by the degree of sensitivity of these documents and how many there were, … and I think the counts under the Espionage Act that he wilfully retained those documents are solid counts,” Barr, who served under Trump, told Fox News Sunday.

“If even half of it is true, then he’s toast.”

The legal dominoes finally start to fall against Trump | Salon.com

Ready to lock Clinton Biden, and all his opponents up but unfair to lock lock himself up for the multitude of crimes he’s committed

It’s really rich to watch a group of people who screeched “lock her up” on repeat for four long years now clutch their pearls over the inhumanity of holding this man accountable for defying the rule of law and claiming that he declassified every document in his possession just by thinking about it.

Assuming Biden remains in good health and there isn’t a dramatic foreign policy reversal or a prolonged economic crisis, he is now a shoo-in. He may be a shoo-in no matter what, since the alternative will be so unpalatable to so many Americans.

Trump’s Mistake Was Committing Small Crimes by Himself

I hate taking away from anyone’s enjoyment of Trump’s troubles, especially given the shameless delight that they’ve brought me. I understand the temptation to look at what’s happening and believe that the system works. The problem is that this is correct: The system is working — it’s just not anything resembling a system of justice.

Trump Gives New Meaning to “Leopard Eating People’s Face Party” | The Smirking Chimp

Before special counsel Jack Smith released the indictment charging Donald Trump for mishandling hundreds of classified documents, speculation was rampant that the twice-impeached former president was going to be charged under the very law he signed in 2018 to toughen up misuse of classified documents. That would really have been delicious. Turns out, he’s not being charged under that law. What he is being charged under is even better—potentially 100 years in prison better.

The allegations range from the shocking, like Trump describing U.S. military operations to people without security clearances, to the surreal, like the onetime reality TV star storing documents in a shower at his Mar-a-Lago resort.

Donald John Trump (the newspapers always give all three names of criminals) has been indicted on 7 counts having to do with espionage and obstruction of justice arising from his removal of classified documents from the White House and his refusal to turn some of them over when the government demanded them. The insular American television news media keeps calling this indictment ‘unprecedented.’ But lots of heads of state have been indicted, even indicted more than once, and tried and jailed. Trump Suggests That Charges Are Imminent In DOJ Probe Of Classified Documents | HuffPost Latest News

Former President Donald Trump was arraigned in New York on unrelated charges related to his alleged role in covering up hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels.

In the wake of Trump

He should be pleased because he spent a lot of energy creating a Republican-biased judicial system appointing judges and laughing at the process of American justice. Now, Trump’s freaking out that he just may not have made it biased and Trump proofed enough. His PAC simply hasn’t the money to keep paying his lawyers, run his campaign, and make him a profit. As the billionaires and corporations aren’t siding with him and his base well he’s proved to be a piss weak supporter and has thrown so many under the bus along the way

In a panicky online post, the former president expressed disbelief that he could be indicted and said he’s innocent of all wrongdoing.

Smoking Gun: Trump’s Theft of Classified Iran Materials Caught on Tape, May bring him down

If he were the White House janitor he’d be done and dusted long ago. It’s not that he’s an ex- President either. He has enough money to stall justice and die long before he’s ever convicted.

Trump’s remarks on the tape create extreme legal jeopardy for him, since they reveal that he was aware that he possessed classified documents, and that he was not actually able any longer to declassify them. Moreover, the “Secret” classification is a sweet spot for espionage prosecutions, Lowell points out, since a mere “Confidential” classification is considered too trivial to bring charges over, while possession of a “Top Secret” document might not be prosecuted for fear that the document itself would be exposed to the light of day.

American Politics PACS and money. Trump’s ransacking the cookie jar,

That Trump uses other people’s money to pay his legal bills is well-established. The Republican National Committee, for instance, footed the legal bills accured as Trump fought off New York investigations into his company’s extensive tax fraud and other economic crimes. Last year, CNN found that over 60% of Trump’s leadership PAC spending was paying his legal bills. Earlier this year, the New York Times reported that Trump spent $16 million of his campaign donations on paying legal fees to fend off accountability for his various crimes.

This goes a long way towards explaining why Trump’s lawyers are going along with his preferred strategy of publicly bullying prosecutors, judges, and juries, usually by leveling false accusations. From a legal perspective, that’s just a bad idea, because it tends to make those people less inclined to show mercy. But it is a good way to raise money.  Trump’s lawyers very much want to get paid. Trump’s big mouth may land him in jail, but as long as the donor wallets are open, his legal team will make a fortune in the process.

While each manifests itself in different ways, all of these impediments to the former president’s ability to defend himself emanate from the same source: Donald Trump. As my former law partner Ken Kaplan and I used to say when dealing with difficult clients, “you can often protect a client from the government, but you can never protect him from himself.” With this reality in mind, we can surely expect additional self-inflicted wounds to emerge as the investigations wrap up and the pressure on the former president increases.

In this image taken from video, former president Donald Trump answers questions during his deposition on October 19, 2022.

On Tuesday afternoon, less than three hours after it began deliberations, a Manhattan jury found Donald Trump liable for sexually abusing writer E. Jean Carroll in a Manhattan department store in the mid-1990s—and for defaming her when he called her a liar when she went public with her allegations in 2019. The jury did not find him liable for rape, and the $5 million won’t make much of a dent in his net worth, even considering he’s nowhere near as rich as claims to be. And yet, this was obviously an incredible moment, and turn of events, considering that Trump has essentially never once been held accountable for a lifetime of horrific behavior.

Trump arrives at the Manhattan Criminal Courthouse, New York, after his indictment by a grand jury, on 4 April, 2023.

Last week’s melodrama made it plainer than ever that Trump does not understand America – what made it, what it is now, what it stands for around the globe. He just doesn’t get it. His mental and emotional landscape is painfully limited, walled in, barren, scared, and perpetually angry. His whole world is himself alone. Fake patriot Trump is a man without a country. It’s a fair bet the country will ultimately decide it can do without Trump.
