Lack of media scrutiny helped the Liberals lose their way

With a compliant mainstream media failing to hold it to account, the Liberal Party is completely out of touch with voters’ opinions and its own failures, writes Dr Victoria Fielding.

The LNP: Do they ever learn? – » The Australian Independent Media Network

after the people of Australia resoundingly voted against the LNP in order to kick that repugnant little war mongering garden gnome, John Howard to the gutter, did the LNP learn a single thing about humility, compassion and not to use war, hate and xenophobic racism as a distraction against their inherent corruption,…

Does Australia really want a repeat performance by these lying, conniving parasites whose only legacy is $1 trillion in debt whilst thumping their chests and cynically bragging that they are the “best economic managers”!!!!?

The resounding answer should be:
NO! NO! DEFINITELY NOT!

Bloody hell!

Morrison reaped what he had sown – » The Australian Independent Media Network

Writing this a couple of days after the most important election in Australian history, Australians did finally find their voices, and in no uncertain manner told the neo-liberal jackals who had come storming into public life that they were finished. Why the most important election? Because Morrison was on a path to Trumpian glory. Surrounded…

Why the most important election? Because Morrison was on a path to Trumpian glory. Surrounded by white evangelicals and emboldened by the sound of acquiescence from his front benchers, he was on a path to immortality. He had no reason to listen, he suffered no self-doubt.

His disdain for conventional behaviour, his seeming inability to act respectfully toward anyone he encountered, his feigned religious conviction all pointed to something deeply wrong about this man, and his government.

The Biggest Change During My 50 Years in and Around American Politics | The Smirking Chimp

Which brings me to today, when the spectrum from left to right is the longest it’s been in my 50 years in and around politics. Despite all the howls from the right about “cancel culture” and “woke-ness” on the left, I don’t think the left has moved much from where it was a half-century ago. Nor, frankly, have I. But the right has moved far, far rightward. Donald Trump brought America about as close as we’ve ever come to fascism. He incited an attempted coup against the United States. To this day, he and most of the Republican Party continue to deny that he lost the 2020 election. And they are getting ready to suppress votes and disregard voting outcomes they disagree with.

At this rate, I can’t help but wonder where the “center” will be twenty-five years from now. What do you think?

This is a fire-breathing dragon that took a dump and continues to do so on America. It has given birth to even worse ones doing the same. It will continue to give birth to the worst of the worst until finally REAL news will look SENSATIONAL

Instead, let’s simply pause for a moment and marvel at the spectacular impact a quarter of a century’s worth of Fox News has had on American life itself. Whether a person watches the channel or never tunes in does not matter. In some way, Fox News has made your life remarkably crappier.Looking Back, Anniversary,

Should this be a surprise?

It’s no wonder Australians are so annoyed

The only saving grace is that the key perpetrators have revealed themselves to the broader public and, importantly, to their more gullible colleagues for what they are.

Politics has its share of these types. People who just want it their way all the time. And when that doesn’t happen they eat resentment for breakfast and dine on revenge. They put themselves ahead of the team. Always.

That’s been known about this little band, and it is little, for a long time. But now they’ve shown that this bitter diet has been like a cancer to their competence. They are seen as, among other things, inept and reckless and foolish. Their colleagues see it. The public sees it. It takes a special kind of stupidity to organise a coup that you don’t win, in a sitting week and in a government with a majority of one. If you can’t read the numbers in a small party room how can you read what’s happening out in the real world?

Days of illusion: Donald Trump’s first 100

Taken as a whole, the Trump resume is most certainly not too impressive so far, writes Dr Binoy Kampmark.
