Disinformation goes much deeper than that it’s direct from Trumpland to Australia via the LNP for some 10 if not longer years.. Peter Dutton spent time in the US intentionally mis and disinforming himself on politics , policy and tactics to use against the new ALP Government. Rest assured he spoke with the Murdochs, the GOP and looked for financial support just as One Nation did. Dutton simply doesn’t have what it takes to lead or even be trusted and Morrison indicated that by keeping him out of the loop. Frankly why would anyone be surprised if they were being independantly manipulated by America’s far-right?
The anti-vaxxers obstructing hospital entries in Melbourne are consuming the same misinformation and subsuming the same moral values as the Americans
In terms of the gig economy, there are few more ruthless buccaneers than this San Franciscan ride-share company that has persistently specialised in cutting corners and remaking them. Those taken aback by the latest leaked files about Uber’s conduct would do well to remember the initial stages of the company’s growth, and the protests against it. Globally, the taxi fraternity raged against the encroachment of this new, seemingly amorphous bully. Some authorities heeded their wishes, seeing an alternative option in transportation.
All the World Economic Forum’s Davos panels and the combined philanthropy of the world’s more than 2,755 billionaires have failed so far to vaccinate the world’s poor. That’s why a broad, global coalition has formed calling for the world’s governments to tax the rich. “It is time to levy a wealth tax on the world’s multi-millionaires and billionaires,” Chuck Collins of the Institute for Policy Studies and the Fight Inequality Alliance, wrote, introducing their “Taxing Extreme Wealth” report. “This is not to simply raise revenue to vaccinate the world and invest in robust public health systems. But a wealth tax that is intended to save democracy from the extreme concentrations of wealth and power.” A graduated wealth tax on people with $5 million or more would raise $2.5 trillion annually, the report calculates. Those funds could pay to contain this pandemic, invest in public health to prevent the next one, and lift millions out of poverty. Tax the rich.
But it seems strange to say that, having just defeated an attempt to overturn a democratic election in his own country, Biden is in some way disqualified from criticising a similar attempt in Myanmar. The answer to this question is to recognise that Biden does not speak for “the United States”, but for the Party he leads. To the extent that his party supports democracy in the U.S., it is naturally aligned with supporters of democracy everywhere, and against supporters of dictatorship, both at home and abroad.
