Ben Roberts-Smith judgment: Samantha Crompvoets who sparked Brereton war crimes report calls to strip medals

.

whack-a-mole polices but won’t change the system. It could drive things to further secrecy rather than openness. The fact is the ADF is a system that promotes war and war by definition is at all costs. The Vietnamese fought for their freedom and won they were right we were wrong. The nuclear bombing of Japan certainly ended the war but wasn’t it a crime? Win at all cost is war and within it is the promotion of crime crime . Is Smith really guilty?

Samantha Crompvoets, an expert on organisational culture, was commissioned by the Department of Defence in 2015 to produce a report that led to military personnel disclosing claims of unlawful behaviour including alleged war crimes.

What Will Happen When Banks Go Bust? Bank Runs, Bail-Ins and Systemic Risk – scheerpost.com

When banks go bust who pays?

The question is whether the Fed would see depositors as “systemically important,” but the rush to compete for deposits shows that they are. Arguably deposits are the people’s weapons of mass destruction: pull them and the banks go down. The banks need our deposits; and we need the sort of self-sustaining financial system in which money, credit and banks are treated as public utilities, accessible by and accountable to the people whose full faith and credit backs them.

  • “I think they keep him in Belmarsh because they can get away with it. It’s the most effective way of silencing him.”
  • “I’m convinced Julian cannot survive under the conditions the US will put him in. The only reason he’s surviving now is because he’s able to see me and the children.”
  • “If the UK press had reported fairly and critically about this case, would Julian be in Belmarsh prison today? I don’t believe so.”
  • “These concepts of independence and fairness are the only thing that stand between us and a complete darkness of raw power where they can just crush you.”

‘The system is defending police shooters instead of putting them on trial’

Less than a week after Israeli Border Police shot dead a Palestinian who had stabbed an ultra-Orthodox Jewish man near Damascus Gate in Jerusalem, the State Attorney’s Office decided last Thursday to close an internal investigation into the conduct of the officers. Footage of the incident showed Muhammad Salima, 25, carrying out the stabbing attack before being shot once by the nearby police officers. While Salima lay on the ground wounded and incapacitated, an officer circled around and fired two additional shots directly at him, killing Salima instantly. The Justice Ministry said that the investigation was shelved because “there was a real and tangible danger to the lives of the soldiers and civilians,” and as a result, “there was a legal justification for the use of [lethal] weapons.”
