Tony Abbott and Words of Wisdom

On Wisdom

No one. However smart, however well-educated, however experienced is the suppository of all wisdom

 On Womens Business

I want to make it clear that I do not judge or condemn any woman who has had an abortion, but every abortion is a tragedy and up to 100,000 abortions a year is this generation’s legacy of unutterable shame.

Abortion is the easy way out. It’s hardly surprising that people should choose the most convenient exit from awkward situations.

While I think men and women are equal, they are also different and I think it’s inevitable and I don’t think it’s a bad thing at all that we always have, say, more women doing things like physiotherapy and an enormous number of women simply doing housework

What the housewives of Australia need to understand as they do the ironing is that if they get it done commercially it’s going to go up in price and their own power bills when they switch the iron on are going to go up.

Climate Change

It seems that, notwithstanding the dramatic increases in manmade CO2 emissions over the last decade, the world’s warming has stopped.

If you want to put a price on carbon why not just do it with a simple tax

 Climate change is absolute crap

The argument [behind climate change] is absolute crap. However, the politics of this are tough for us. Eighty per cent of people believe climate change is a real and present danger.

Homosexuality

[on homosexuality] I’d probably … I feel a bit threatened

[on homosexuality] If you’d asked me for advice I would have said to have adopt a sort of “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy about all of these things…

Fatherhood

If you wanna know who to vote for, I’m the guy with the not bad-looking daughters.

I won’t be rushing out to get my daughters vaccinated [for cervical cancer], maybe that’s because I’m a cruel, callow, callous, heartless bastard but, look, I won’t be

I think I would say to my daughters if they were to ask me this question… it [their virginity] is the greatest gift that you can give someone, the ultimate gift of giving and don’t give it to someone lightly, that’s what I would say.

Asylum

These people aren’t so much seeking asylum, they’re seeking permanent residency. If they were happy with temporary protection visas, then they might be able to argue better that they were asylum seekers

Jesus knew that there was a place for everything and it’s not necessarily everyone’s place to come to Australia.

Youth

When you are challenging the young, they can come back at you with language of tremendous power and they are no respecters of sacred cows, you know, the young. There’s nothing politically correct about the average young Australian when it comes to use of language.

MP’S

I know politicians are going to be judged on everything they say but sometimes in the heat of discussion you go a little bit further than you would if it was an absolutely calm, considered, prepared, scripted remark. The statements that need to be taken absolutely as gospel truth are those carefully prepared scripted remarks.

 Work

If we’re honest, most of us would accept that a bad boss is a little bit like a bad father or a bad husband. you find that he tends to do more good than harm. He might be a bad boss but at least he’s employing someone while he is in fact a boss.

 Indigenous People

Now, I know that there are some Aboriginal people who aren’t happy with Australia Day. For them it remains Invasion Day. I think a better view is the view of Noel Pearson, who has said that Aboriginal people have much to celebrate in this country’s British Heritage

There may not be a great job for [aboriginal people] but whatever there is, they just have to do it… And if it’s picking up rubbish around the community, it just has to be done.

Sorry Andrew I had my fingers crossed: Abbott called Bolt first

Abbott’s Warm Fuzzy Melting Pot

Sorry Bro Next Time

Breaking news! “In light of the complex and challenging security environment facing Australia” Abbott has made another captain’s call; the amendments to section 18c of the racial vilification act are now officially “off the table”.

Apparently while it was perfectly OK for shock jocks to indiscriminately hurl racial abuse a few months back, what we NEED now, as a nation, is to set aside what divides us so we can all come together in a big warm fuzzy hug of national unity.

That is, of course, except for when we come together in collective condemnation of anyone who has been to “a designated conflict zone”.

Under new legislation on the Coalition drawing board, any “Aussie” so stupid as to go to “a designated conflict zone” without having the forethought to film their entire visit, (as proof they are not a terrorist), could be jailed without proof, refused re-entry, expelled from the country, or simply have their their citizenship revoked, all without any proof whatsoever they did anything wrong.

While I can’t pretend I am not pleased that the racial vilification act has survived Abbott’s ill thought out onslaught, I must confess to being somewhat skeptical as to the motivations for his back down.

I am quite sure someone within the LNP has pointed out that, given his abysmal standing in the polls, it might be better to pick his battles. With his reforms to 18c almost universally condemned (and looking set to face defeat), and with the budget stench still clouding the air, maybe it might be prudent to throw us a bit of a feel good bone, particularly when a much more Machiavellian ambition – to establish a legal precedent for the removing the burden of proof – could be at play.

But then again maybe I am over thinking this, maybe it is just because, as Guy Rundle wrote this week in the Saturday Paper, “if George Brandis gets rolled on 18C, he will have no honourable choice but to resign as attorney-general”, and Abbott doesn’t want to lose a high profile scalp right now.

Nevertheless Brandis will go

Andrew Bolt : Aboriginal & Torres Strait Island Culture is to Blame

What he is saying is the very people, the very ethnic groups that would take exception to 18C are the same ones that are, in part, some of them, affected or take offence to the anti-terrorism legislation. To make them feel not picked on he’ll retain laws against free speech,” Bolt identified “obviously muslims, jihadists, people from the Middle East.”

“Don’t we need a frank debate, more frank than it’s been so far into how the Islamic culture, muslim culture, how they integrate here?”

And the retention of these laws make such a debate legally dangerous.

Bolt is comfortable saying publically “Aboriginal Culture is to blame for the individual and community problems of Aboriginies” He is comfortable for attacking Islam because it is a religion and not a race and now he is saying the topics are dangerous and the press and media are all pussies for not raising these issues. The man is like a beached whale thrashing around in every direction. He is now declaring himself to be a racist and the issues he raises are racial. He is here admitting to be a self confessed liar.

Cultures are not immutable they change and influence each other there is not an either or clash. Oh dear we drink red wine and eat spaghetti. Shit we eat middle eastern food. For Bolt that’s Haram, non kosher and dangerous because Assimilation was moving upstream. In the 50’s Australia was in need of labour and lot’s of it. So we accepted a multicultural intake of Turks, Greeks,Lebanese, Yugoslavs and even Dutch. What happened this country boomed and flourished. We learnt to eat, drink sing celebrate and do things differently. Nationality clubs and services sprung up and yes we imported issues as well. Those issues didn’t go away because migrants totally assimilated but people had economic success and were allowed to develop.

Curmudgeons like Bolt existed ‘wog’, ‘dago’ ‘slope’. Urban myths abounded ‘ if you go to Collingwood you’ll get knifed’ ‘All Vietnamese are drug dealers’ ‘Yugoslavs were all Ustashi’

In 1950s Australia, for example, women grew up accepting that women were inferior to men. No one ever said it. They simply soaked up the culture. Some knew with absolute and unconscious certainty, that any woman who hadn’t made the house spotless, washed and ironed every drawer-escapee, cooked a three-course breakfast and packed lunches for her family, prepared the evening’s roast and baked a cake and, finally, donned the mandatory ‘lippy’, hat, and gloves for appearing in public, even on her own front porch … yes, any woman who hadn’t done all this and more by 8am … was a slut.

Ban the bomb demonstrators and anti Vietnam were the ages equivalent of terrorists the CPA members were denigrated  under constant surveillance by ASIO  The Andrew Bolt’s of the day claimed ‘and so it should be ‘as they were a threat to the Aussie way of life. Frank Hardy was the Mike Carlton of the day. Conscientious objectors were thrown in jail, poofter bashing was god’s rightful retribution and single mothers non existent. “Catholic dogs stink like frogs” was the the abuse thrown at me on the way home from primary school.

Bolt blames Aboriginal Culture for their demise. Arnhem Land Peoples was a kinship culture contrasted with white society in that there was no chance of accumulating wealth when one’s relatives cannot rightly be refused if they are in need.” They has been in contact with Macassan Muslims and they were in no way disrupted by contact with Muslims something which cannot be said about the later cultural contact experiences of these now oppressed people. While Arnhem land peoples spoke of the period of contact with Macassar as a Golden Age.  This attitude of the indigenous people contrasted starkly with relations during the period of assimilation and oppression under the white colonial administration. The contrast is plainly between the generosity and democracy of the Macassarese and the stinginess, meanness and colour bar of the Whites.”

Bolt’s biggest fear is that by retaining section 18C and Multi cultural policies Australia is “being asked to assimilate to immigrant values” in response to Mr Abbott’s decision to drop the changes.

This coming from the mouth of an admitted elitist who has said he shunned and was never drawn to Australian Culture until he married and was introduced to it by his father-in-law. Why do we accept this Muslim-hating, Koori-hating, racist bigot?

Abbott’s Dream in the pipeline is fast becoming a pipe dream

ABBOTT POINT IS HISTORY

Worst news for Australia as India taps solar, Beijing bans coal

As Australia’s federal government commits to a future digging up, burning and most of all exporting the nation’s vast coal resource, two of the countries upon which this shaky economic plan is most dependent – India and China – look to be closing the door on the heavy polluting fossil fuel.

In Delhi last week, the Indian government committed to a plan to provide low-cost loans and grants to set up some of the world’s largest solar PV parks across the country, each of them comprising as much as 20 gigawatts of capacity, about 10 times what India has built to date.At a cost about 32 per cent below the global average for solar, according to data compiled by Bloomberg, and well below the average for coal-fired power generation.

China &  India have become increasingly critical to the stability or continued growth of the seaborne coal market.Add to this India’s five-year solar lighting goal and you have what looks like a much diminished future coal equation for Australia.

According to official Chinese government statistics, coal use accounted for 25.4 per cent of the capital’s energy consumption in 2012 – a figure that is expected to shrink to less than 10 per cent by 2017.PWCS-Destination

China’s plans to slash its already declining coal use poses a major – but certainly not unheralded – problem for Australia’s coal industry.According to data from Newcastle’s Port Waratah Coal Services, China has accounted for just over 25 per cent of coal through the Port of Newcastle, the world’s biggest coal export hub in 2014.On top of this, the price for thermal coal has plunged more than 10 per cent in the last two months – due largely to major importing nations like India making it clear that renewable energy is offering a competitive energy alternative.

Currently, thermal coal is sold for less than $70 on the spot market, well below the mark for Australian producers to make money, let alone the cost of production and the level to get the finance for the massive new projects Prime Minister Tony Abbott is hoping to encourage.

Any chance of a boom as China grows may prove ephemeral.”

Andrew Bolt Blames Aboriginal &Torres Strait Island Culture for their problems

Bolt’s fear of loss in Indigenous recognition in the Constitution

“Unacknowledged in all of this are those people who created what is “now known as the Australian nation” and Constitution, and their descendants and their culture that turned a harsh continent into a prosperous homeland for 24 million inhabitants.”

Bolt is racist he blames Aboriginal Culture as the root cause for individual and community problems not historical intervention and the fragmentation of culture by white civilization. There was no genocide, no stolen children only a history of unsuccessful attempts at welfare. Since white people arrived in Australia it has always been difficult for them to understand Aboriginal culture. Ignorance led to many thousand Aboriginal people being killed by white settlers, and attempts were made to “breed out” their culture through assimilation. Bolt insists that Assimilation policies are right for today today to breed out cultural differences. Basically he argues for a form of Cultural genocide. Arguing Aboriginal Culture is to blame it is the equivalent and the same as Rolf Harris saying I was seduced. Or the Mullah that raped a 10 year old saying he was seduced.

Aboriginal people continue to feel misunderstood by white Australian politics and do face discrimination. They claim that many legislative acts reflect a white point of view where at least a dual view would be necessary. Racial discrimination is embedded in the Australian Constitution and continues to be enacted in the laws and policies of our states and territories. The current government wants to enact constitutional recognition. However Andrew Bolt disagrees and sees Multiculturalism of any sort an antithesis to social harmony and equality.

On 3 April 2009 Australia supported the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP). The move came after the declaration was formally adopted by the UN General Assembly on 13 September 2007 with the support of 143 member states and the opposition of just four—Australia, Canada, the United States and New Zealand. The declaration was 20 years in the making and sets out basic standards for the recognition and protection of Indigenous peoples’ rights worldwide, including identity, land and resources, self-determination, freedom from discrimination, culture, traditions and language. You can read more about many of these areas on the website exploring Australian Aboriginal culture

Maybe Bolt needs to address current issues of  ensuring Human Rights for all first rather than  Racism or losing his colonial entitlements. One such right is ensuring cultural identities be recognized in the processes of all institutions. That Aboriginies are treated by them as equal and not because they are Aboriginal that the duality be recognized. That recognition to cultural differences is taken into account when aboriginal communities point out their problems and are given help to address them. One method for all approach to  different communities will never work but that’s what Bolt advocates. His defence “I’m not a Racist because it’s culture not race we need to change doesn’t hold water. Extrapolate and you have “stop anybody that’s not like us” and Aparthied by Immigration policy coupled with Assimilation policies will stop the differences which are such a danger.

Forget Racism

“Human rights do not dispossess people. Human rights do not marginalise people. Human rights do not cause their poverty and they don’t cause the gaps in the life expectancy and other life outcomes. It is the denial of rights that is the largest contributor to these things. The value of human rights is not in their existence; it is in their implementation.”

157 Tamils including children RENDITIONED to Nauru……. MORRISON LIES….UPDATE

ADOLF EICHMAN’S DEFENSE “JUST DOING MY JOB ”

Scott Morrison the Minister for NO INFORMATION says AHRC allegations of self harm and sick children on Christmas Island are “sensational”. Yet his department head confirmed 128 recorded instances in the past 15 months. Martin Bowles said improvements had been made. I’m sure those i

improvements are more about information suppression and ridiculing attending doctors should they be found to reveal restricted information. International Health and Medical Services were explicitly told to withdraw figures showing children were suffering high levels of mental illness by the Immigration Department.

Scott Morrison who consistently refused to attend the AHRC inquiry is quite open to run it down as he is the  report by nine major Christian Churches which labelled the detention of unaccompanied children in processing camps and centres as state sponsored child abuse. The church task force report contains remarkably strong language invoking the holocaust in its critique of Australia’s detention policy.

The Immigration Minister’s office says Scott Morrison hasn’t seen the final report but says claims of state-sponsored child abuse are shocking and offensive and categorically rejected by him. Morrison is embodiment of ministerial evil”  We know that one doesn’t need to be fanatical, sadistic, or mentally ill to persecute unaccompanied children and asylum seekers in detention. It is enough to be a loyal follower eager to do one’s duty for an inhumane, insane government  detention policy. Wasn’t this Adolf Eichman’s defense?

UPDATE

Scott Morrison’s LIES

“This decision means that those [asylum seekers] who were previously living in India will now be unable to take advantage of the humanitarian offer being made by the Indian government, secured by my visit to New Delhi last week, that would have potentially enabled their return to India,” Mr Morrison said in a statement.

“There will also now be around 50 more children on Nauru, many of which, if not all, could have been going back to India.

“It is disappointing that this opportunity has been squandered. If these decisions were taken on the advice of lawyers, then not only have the passengers on this voyage been duped by people smugglers, it would seem they have also been let down by those who are supposed to be looking after their best interests as well and claim to be on their side.”

This seems to be a straight out lies on the part of Morrisson as:

  1. the Indians only accepted to take back Indian nationals only.
  2. that lawyers were not given access to advise these people of their rights.
  3. the department just “disappeared” them under the cover of darkness

“Now they’ve secretly smuggled them out to Nauru to keep them away from lawyers and advocates and this Government is making policy up on the run.”

George Newhouse

Mr Newhouse says the asylum seekers not were given the chance to talk to their lawyers about their options before they were moved to Nauru.

“We have not had opportunity to inform our clients of their rights and options,” he said.

“These people were trafficked under the cover of darkness. This is the second time they’ve been disappeared.

SORRY,SORRY,& SORRY A TRIPLE ACT

SORRY,SORRY,SORRY BUT  FROM ABBOTT “IT NEVER HAPPENED”

Andrew Bolt on 2GB’s Steve Price show groveled.

Ramjan was the young woman who in 1977 enraged Tony Abbott and his band of university bovver boys, when she beat him in the election for the post of president of the University of Sydney’s student representative council. A witness said that Abbott’s gang was screaming “commie” and “poofter” as they barged in to make their threatening protest to Ramjan.  Abbott approached her. “He came up to within an inch of my nose and punched the wall on either side of my head. It was done to intimidate,”

Abbott has variously said that “it would be profoundly out of character had it occurred” and “it never happened”. Melbourne’s conservative pin-up boy Michael Kroger was laying into Ramjan, so was Alan Jones, so too The Australian and more recently Bolt on 2GB. Bolt on 19 May told 2GB’s listeners that: “Tony Abbott was falsely accused of punching a wall next to the head of the student official when he was at university…”Bolt went on:

How many interviews did David Marr give about his book about Tony Abbott hitting a wall? I mean, on the ABC it was wall-to-wall. You couldn’t turn on the ABC without it. If that is such a terrible thing – and he [Abbott] denied it and there are no eye witness accounts of him actually doing it that are credible. If that is such a germane thing, something that happened 30 something years ago, why is there zero, zero condemnation [of Bishop being jostled], it seems to me, from the usual mouthpieces of the left? What’s happening to Liberal politicians today?

That woe-begotten spray contained a crucial error. There were two credible eye witnesses, one of whom had made a sworn statement about what happened in 1977.

Patrick George, Ramjan’s lawyer, quickly dispatched a letter of demand to Bolt, pointing out that his remarks gave rise to the imputation that his client had lied and there was a witness to say she had not lied. Bolt had nowhere to go, except to broadcast this grovel on Monday night:

” On 19 May, I made some statements on air concerning an incident involving the prime minister which took place at the University of Sydney approximately 30 years ago. I have been told by Barbara Ramjan that my statements might have been understood to suggest that her evidence of the incident was not truthful. I have never accused Ms Ramjan of lying in giving her evidence of that incident. In referring to the incident I did not intend to suggest that she was a liar or that she had acted dishonestly and if anyone understood my statements to suggest that, then I apologise to her unreservedly.”

Bolt has become increasingly gun shy  over the years having been convicted of defamation of Jalena Popovic which cost  $246,000.On 28 September 2011 he was found to have contravened section 18C of the Racial Discrimination Act. His ex fiance had him apologise for suggesting she’d lied. She countered with signed stat dec after he’d publicly fantasized ” I was a minder to a belly dancer” when it was she that was his minder. He holds sway over a cut and paste bloggsite and never really put’s his name to anything allowing his followers to do his dirty work. An advocate for free speech the site is heavily moderated against opposing views.

Ramjan sued over vehement remarks made by Kroger on The Bolt Report on 23 September 2012, an interview he gave to Alan Jones on 2GB, and two articles in The Australian.

Among Kroger’s claims was the allegation that she is a “serial fabricator of false complaints”. Ramjan pleaded four imputations: she is a left wing lunatic, she is a disgraceful nobody, she fabricated the Abbott allegation, and she told a vicious lie about Abbott as part of a campaign to damage him.By August 2013 The Australian and Kroger had settled and the newspaper published an apology for saying she had lied. Channel 10 had also apologised.

Jones went on air with a long explanation and apology, which concluded: “So if anything I have done had led to discomfort and concern for Barbara Ramjan then I do apologise.

Tony Abbott does seem out in the cold and alone with his “It never happened”story.
