As global temperatures keep rising toward uninhabitable levels and a nuclear doomsday machine is threatening life on Earth, is it too early, or is it already too late, to hold advance Nuremberg trials for those who keep poisoning the planetary atmosphere and promote nuclear war?

In October, the head of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Kristalina Georgieva, told a town hall of civil society organisations in Washington, D.C., that the IMF “is indeed supporting biodiversity. For instance, we have economists that are able to measure the monetary value of an elephant and the value of a whale.”
Georgieva’s comments echo an observation made by Karl Marx in volume one of Capital (1867):
“In England, women are still occasionally used instead of horses for hauling canal boats, because the labour required to produce horses and machines is an accurately known quantity, while that required to maintain the women of the surplus-population is below all calculation.”
What is the monetary value of an orangutan, let alone the survival of the planet? The ruling class might be able to calculate those values, but it is clear that they are unwilling to foot the bill to save the planet.
Russia and China have again blocked plans supported by the European Union, the United States and 23 other nations to protect three vast stretches of ocean around Antarctica from most fishing.

What is particularly concerning about this event is that it is unlike the past five extinction waves which were caused by natural phenomena like asteroid impacts and volcanic eruptions. The Sixth Extinction has been caused by the actions of Mankind. 99% of flora and fauna species currently identified as threatened with extinction have been linked to activities like land clearing, habitat destruction, air and water pollution, and warming induced by human activity.
