Former Defence Minister Kevin Andrews has infuriated his party’s chief whip by requesting an absence from Parliament to attend a Washington “prayer breakfast” only then to use the time to deliver a speech to a major conservative think-tank.

THE CABIN ANTHRAX, MURPHY, N.C. (CT&P) – Citing as a reason the alarmingly high number of drone attacks over the fall and early winter, Anthraxia government officials announced today that the beleaguered municipality will be purchasing an air defense system from the nation of Israel.
“We felt that if we were to continue to guarantee the safety of our citizens the purchase had to be made,” said Minister of Defense Asher Wills. “Our current defense capability consists of myself, an aging terrier named Banjo, and a few rednecks walking around aimlessly with shotguns. We just cannot keep up with the high number of incoming hawks and other birds of prey we have been seeing lately.”
The drone attacks in and around the Cabin Anthrax have taken the lives of at least 11 innocent chickens who were going about their daily lives scratching the earth looking for insects and bits of wheat flavored Captain’s Wafers.
Prime Minister of Anthraxia Jerry Dickerson told reporters that the system should be in place sometime next month.
The Iron Dome air defense system currently in use in Israel has proven reliable and efficient. It is a three-piece system of interceptor batteries that shoot rockets out of the sky. A radar tracks the rocket as it is fired across the border into Israel, and then advanced software predicts the rocket’s trajectory. The information it provides is used to guide Tamir interceptor missiles, which are fired from the ground to blow the rocket into harmless pieces in the sky.
“Unfortunately we could not afford the costly “Iron Dome” system currently used by the IDF, but they have offered us a less costly variant dubbed ‘Cast Iron Dome,’” said Dickerson.
The less costly system consists of a series of Roman candles positioned around the edge of the Anthraxia compound and over 100 bottle rockets set to launch into the air and detonate at different altitudes all around the cabin complex. The projectiles are activated manually by a highly trained hillbilly observer who sits atop the roof of each cabin scanning the sky for intruders.
Since most of the citizens of Anthraxia are unemployed and have nothing better to do, it is assumed there will be not shortage of volunteers for this critical mission. Israel military advisers are due in Anthraxia next week to begin training the inarticulate and nearly illiterate defense team.
“We hope that the purchase of this system will protect our poultry from further attacks,” said Dickerson. “I can tell you from experience, there’s nothing more depressing than waking up and not having enough eggs to make an omelet. It’s a truly tragic situation.”
Rumour has it that Kevin Andrews will not contest the next election and Peta Credlin will be gifted the safe seat of Menzies, and there are good reasons why this might prove to be true.
Both are big players in Abbott’s Star Chamber as is Credlin’s husband, Brian Loughnane. They certainly have the power to make this happen.

At first I thought Andrews unlikely to give up his position but on further reflection there could be some contributing factors.
Like the realisation that he is never going to become Prime Minister. A couple of weeks before Tony Abbott rolled Malcolm Turnbull, Kevin Andrews made an unsuccessful bid for the leadership. While he seems to wield more power behind the scenes that Tony Abbott, he doesn’t get to do the handshaking. Perhaps he feels he can do better elsewhere.
He may return to his marriage counselling business since there is plenty of government money on offer there. His publications could become required reading as Andrews is an Adjunct Lecturer in Politics and in Marriage Education in the John Paul II Institute for Marriage and Family in Melbourne – an institution that has also just benefited from newly offered government funding.
Andrews has been able to reward his backers. How else could one describe his repealing of gambling reform laws?
He has been able to impose his ideology in everything from school chaplains to the categorisation as “leaners” of anyone who uses his department’s services.
He has been able to oppose stem cell research, voluntary euthanasia, RU-486, and marriage equality.
As Minister for Immigration and Citizenship, Andrews set the tone for Scott Morrison when he revoked on character grounds the visa of Dr Mohamed Haneef, who had been granted bail on charges of aiding terrorists. After the Director of Public Prosecutions dropped all charges against Haneef, Andrews refused calls to reinstate Haneef’s visa, stating that his personal evidence was still valid. Andrews’ justification of his decision, on the basis that he had a reasonable suspicion that Haneef had associated with suspected terrorists and therefore failed the test of good character that a person must pass to keep a visa, was rejected in the Federal Court, and the revocation of Haneef’s visa was overturned.
We have just voted to remove these safeguards.
Andrews is also a climate change sceptic so he can feel successful in dismantling any action on that too.
All in all, Kevin probably thinks job well done.
If, like me, you have wondered why Peta Credlin takes a seat at the table in all meetings with foreign leaders, why she gets to host soirees for Murdoch hacks and radio shock jocks at Kirribilli House, why she gets to decide who gets what job and who may speak to the media and what they may say, it may be now a bit clearer.

Muhamed Haneef (born 29 September 1979) is an Indian doctor who was accused of aiding terrorists, and left Australia upon cancellation of his visa amid great political controversy.
Haneef was arrested on 2 July 2007 at Brisbane Airport, Brisbane, Australia on suspicion of terror-related activities. He is the second cousin once removed of Kafeel Ahmed and Sabeel Ahmed, the operatives in the 2007 Glasgow International Airport attack. Haneef’s ensuing detention became the longest without charge in recent Australian history, which caused great controversy in Australia and India.
Haneef was released when the Director of Public Prosecutions withdrew its charge on 27 July 2007,[1][2] whereby his passport was returned and he departed Australia voluntarily on 29 July 2007. Hannef’s visa cancellation was overturned by the Federal Court on 21 August 2007, with the decision being reiterated by the full bench of the court on 21 December 2007, resulting in Haneef having his Australian visa returned.[3][4]
In December 2010, Haneef returned to Australia to seek damages for loss of income, interruption of his professional work, and emotional distress. He was awarded compensation from the Australian government. The amount of compensation awarded was not disclosed, but was described by sources as “substantial”.[5]
This governments cry for deregulation of the financial industry is going to achieve exactly what multi nationals want and what 1%ers would like a gold rush of opportunity but only for those at the top.

Deregulation however is only one side of the coin. More regulation is the other. Kevin Andrews wants more Welfare. He wants want’s to micro-manage what individual recipients recieve and what they can and can’t spend with their payments . Money left in wills for charities is a ‘rivers of gold’ situation for corporate trustees, who are entitled to administer the money in perpetuity. Corporate trustees administering a fund for the Childrens Hospital have diminished it’s capital over the past 5 years by about $20mill in those 5 years the Corporate trustee took $2mill in fees. By comparison, the Children Hospital’s own self managed foundation managed to grow it’s capital by 10 per cent and distribute $80 million to the hospital in the same timeframe. 90% of these corporate trustees have $3.5bill are under the sole management. Currently they can be the trustee, the investor, the administrator and the disburser of the funds, and they don’t have to show that all those charges are fair and reasonable,’’Rivers of Gold”. Andrews wants to axe the ACNC and handball the fee gouging issues to the States. Charities Commissioner Susan Pascoe says State regulation is non existing. In WA there is no cap on fees that can be charged. These Corporate trustees apply the same fee structures to the trusts of disabled, mentally impaired across the board. Andrews isn’t saving money he’s handing the problem over to the states were no protective structures exist.
The Dept of Trade and Froreign Affaire is in secret TPP trade negotiation revealed by WIKI leaks which demand deregulation to open up the freer market for Multinational corporations . Yes but not for the interests of all of us. Australian bank regulations which saved us from the GFC pain that Europe & the US experienced are going to be loosened up. The flip side is that we the consumers are to be effected by the new TPP agreements . We will pay more for drugs and medicines, movies, computer games and software, IT and be placed under surveillance as part of a US-led crackdown on internet piracy. ”One could see the TPP as a Christmas wish list for major corporations, enriching them and their investors but of no help those in the middle, let alone those at the bottom. Goods will become more expensive, pharmaceuticals, IT, software, entertainment, food packaging, among other things will go up. The belief that economic growth is the key to benefit for all is a myth. This governments ear is only open to those guaranteed to win putting the bulk of the population at greater risk. Those 10% at the top will make more money and be overcompensated for the price rises and the other 90% gouged.
