The Voice

Given Lachlan Murdoch’s track record the odds of him failing would be pretty high.

Martin McDonagh calls out No campaign after film’s scene used in Voice ad | SBS News

A man in a blue suit and tie.

Along with the right-wing swine sits Peter Costello’s media that printed the fake news that the Wheatlys and John Farnham “sold” the rights to the Voice to the Yes campaign. Will Costello’s editorial staff print a retraction?

McDonagh told Guardian Australia he wasn’t aware the clip was used in the ‘no’ campaign and the posts appeared to be “deliberate copyright infringement by a bunch of rightwing swine”.

Voice to parliament: Peter Dutton’s divisive language must not derail Australia’s 1967 moment

Peter Dutton wants a No vote in the 2023 referendum. In 1967, 90 per cent of Australians said yes to Indigenous rights.

Yes, Peter Costello’s The AGE  puts Massola’s by-line  on the front page that the “Yes Vote is Unlikely to win”  as “News”, rather than Opinion, setting the mood for the No Campaign

So, yes; some individual First Nations peoples are against the Voice, and for widely differing reasons, but the vast majority – currently 83 per cent – are for it. Eighty-three per cent that’s a lot of voices. I hope the rest of us can hear them.

Anti-Voice Propaganda: A Response – » The Australian Independent Media Network

pseudo-arguments put forward in this remarkable piece of political propaganda are the best that those opposed to the Voice can muster at this point, the campaign is dead. Simple application of basic logic and critical thinking exposes the ‘case’ against the Voice as quite ineffectual. It is standard Conservative fare: fear the unknown (despite there being ample detail about the Voice). I do find it interesting that they tipped their hand so blatantly with the ‘this is permanent’ argument. They are clearly desperate, and that argument was not thought through. Their petulance thus exposed, let us hope the electorate sees through this nonsense and votes for True National Unity with a Voice.

Voice to Parliament: Tony Abbott is back for another No campaign

“I don’t think anyone should have a special voice”: Tony Abbott in his element arguing for a No vote.

A divided party that needs this come-back kid like it needs to be put down

The former PM says the correct Liberal stance is to oppose the Voice to Parliament. But many of his party colleagues disagree, and they are making themselves heard.

Nostalgic for a No campaign he could get behind – again – former prime minister Tony Abbott re-presented himself at Parliament House last week. He was being gagged, he said, by the refusal of the Parliamentary Committee Inquiry into the Voice referendum to allow him to give testimony in person.

Abbott had already given a written submission to the inquiry; he has also written extensively about his thoughts on the matter in The Australian newspaper.

What will a No victory do to the cause of reconciliation? How will we have a hope of closing the gap? How can Australia fashion its contemporary national identity if we can’t face the violence of our origin story? How will any of us ever be able to sit through a Welcome to Country again? How will we respond to the “almost endless protest” Pearson has warned of? How much more despair can we heap on the heads of Aboriginal Australians?

In short: what will happen next if we say no?
