Indeed, her authority is undermined by the corporate media’s wilful myth-making, in which she is taken captive, made into a type of mascot or trophy wife for appeasing business demands for as little regulation as possible.

No More False Equivalence: Israel Chooses War Over Peace | The Smirking Chimp

If an oppressed people like the residents of Gaza could support a regular army and had the manpower, training and materiel to construct and protect a military base, they wouldn’t be oppressed or occupied. Israeli troops couldn’t invade them. They could defend their territory from airstrikes and retaliate effectively. If the Palestinians were able to fight “fairly” as the IDF and its allies in the media say they would prefer, they would be full-fledged citizens of a fully-sovereign Republic of Palestine, they would have a seat at the U.N. and none of this would be happening again.

protesters, many dressed in fatigues and wearing shirts that identified them with groups such as Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, Bikers for Trump, the Alt Knights, and a militia group called American Patriot the III%, gathered in a gravel parking lot in Deposit, New York. They had come for the “Second Annual Ride for Homeland Security.” Pickup trucks, cars, and motorcycles were adorned with American flags. Deposit, a depressed rural community in upstate New York with a population of 1,577, is located at the confluence of the Oguaga Creek and the West Branch of the Delaware River near the border with Pennsylvania.

The protesters, several driving all night, planned to ride past a small community called Islamberg, an enclave of two hundred mostly black Muslims in nearby Hanover, with seventy acres of farmland and woods. The community, with its modest homes of wood and cinder blocks along dirt roads, is a punching bag for right‐wing conspiracy theorists.

The military has killed nearly 150 Palestinians in Gaza so far this year, including 21 children, nearly all along the territory’s eastern boundary with Israel.

The vast majority were fatally wounded since 30 March, which marked the launch of the Great March of Return series of protests against Israel’s decade-long siege. The demonstrations have also asserted the right of Palestinian refugees – who make up two-thirds of Gaza’s population of two million – to return to their lands on the other side of the boundary.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights has condemned Israel’s use of lethal force against Gaza protesters, saying that it may only be used as “a last resort in response to an imminent threat of death or risk of serious injury.”

The office of Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein added that “it is difficult to see how … Molotov cocktails thrown from a significant distance at heavily protected security forces in defensive positions can be seen to constitute such threat.”
