What About Trump’s Dementia? | The Smirking Chimp

If Biden’s age is fair game, why aren’t Trump’s age and apparent mental decline? Biden may appear frail at times, but he’s rational.

The growing evidence of Trump’s dementia and paranoia, on the other hand, poses a potential danger to the future of America — if he’s reelected. At the least, the media should be investigating and reporting on it.

The United States is in decline, with AUKUS, so too is Australia – Pearls and Irritations

AUKUS banner with USA, UK, Australia flag icons. American, British, Australian security alliance pact design.

That conclusion is even more relevant today than it was at the time. Unfortunately, the window of opportunity to escape from our potentially fatal embrace with the United States is closing. This self-inflicted tragedy in the waiting would see a grim future for Australia…..

The one glimmer of hope that remains is that the path we are on can be averted, and averted in short order requiring only two resources: leadership and moral courage.
All it would take is for the Prime Minister to publicly and forthrightly state that Australia will not participate in a war against China under any circumstances, other than as an act of self-defence in the improbable event that China was to attack Australia. This the Prime Minister could do tomorrow.

The steep decline in U.S. life expectancy raises questions most politicians want to avoid

A big part of our lousy performance as a country is we measure the wrong things to plot our success. Sadly, whether it be education, healthcare or housing, our system is all about preserving and amassing great wealth — and if you happen to deliver on those three, well, that’s just a happy coincidence.

Democracy in decline: Australia’s slide into ‘competitive authoritarianism’ – » The Australian Independent Media Network

Australia is at a critical point. A government that would cling to power to impose unpopular policy threatens the very nature of our democracy.

It is common to refer to countries that were “consolidated democracies” as corroding to “illiberal democracies”. Hungary is the most notable example. If, however, the term “competitive authoritarianism” is employed to describe regimes instead, it becomes clear that the danger for Australia is just as strong as it is for the USA and the UK, as well as for Hungary.
