Beaten, abused, humiliated and filmed by Victoria Police

The disability pensioner is pinned down. He is in his own front yard and he is helpless.

Minutes earlier, the police have arrived at John’s home in Preston in Melbourne after his psychologist called triple zero to say she was worried about his deteriorating mental health.

  1. I’ve seen this story, and seen the backlash it’s had on social media, and other platforms.

Out of the 10 seconds of footage, I think there has been a lot of judgement, without much evidence, or backstory to cover it.

For example, like my most recent blog post asks – Was the person known to police? Did they have a record? Did they threaten the community, himself, or the officers? Was the officer filming it as evidence? Was the officer laughing from shock; their human reaction to what the situation entailed?

I’m not one to ask for arguments, and won’t get in one here, though I must say to anyone that saw this story – wait for the internal review…Don’t be so quick to join others in calling them out, over 7 seconds worth of confronting footage, without knowing the entire story!

    1. The internal review process has been deemed a failure. The issue really isn’t one case is it? I respect your wish for no argument but this is rather a question in reply
