The LNP is determined to privatize, outsource and reduce the Public Service and leave behind a piecemeal Service incapable of offering anything in the face of emergencies. Their purpose is to prevent the most unionized sector from improving wages. They have given free rein to import cheaper labor, increase wage theft, and casualize the workforce while the cost of living has been increasing leaving the free choice of improvement through unionization in tatters. Better conditions aren’t as important to the LNP that banning the flying of the Eureka flag on government sights.

The list of Australian universities that have admitted to systematically underpaying casual employees is growing every month. The scale of the problem shows that these aren’t innocent errors — rather, wage theft is built into the core of casual work.
