This supposed close friend watched Slipper’s life unrevel while he saved dozens of others from far, far worse offences, including one of his own. Abbott’s appearance in Murdoch’s papers and on Sky seem more an excercise in distraction rather than ‘real’ news. An attempt to get Morrison off the front pages and in some weird way boost Abbott’s stocks for a distant comeback at much the same time. That’s all Australia needs.
