Robert Reich – Biden Vs Trump -Economy

  1. If the electorate are stupid enough to elect their leader based on his/her economic plans, that electorate then get what they deserve.

Still, the First Past The Post [FPTP] electoral system too frequently puts and keeps Money First conservatives in office; and once they are elected, fundamental human necessities are not really their concern.

To have truly representative democracy, there first needs to be a truly democratic electoral system for the citizenry. While the First Past The Post ballot may qualify as democratic within the democracy spectrum, though barely at that, it is the Proportional Representation system thus governance that’s genuinely representative. …

Also, when it comes to essentially unhindered capitalism, I tend to see corporate heads (figuratively) shrugging their shoulders and defensively saying that their job is to protect shareholders’ bottom-line interests. The shareholders, meanwhile, also shrug their shoulders while defensively stating that they just collect the dividends and that the corporate heads are the ones to make the moral and/or ethical decisions.

… And they all repeat the ambiguous and stupid-sounding catchphrase, “It’s the economy, stupid!”.
