Go figure Hitler defined me a Jew fit enough to be gassed, The Rabbinate says I’m not I’m just a bastard child of an unrecognized marriage. My mother is on the Wall of the Righteous a Goy, to some and a  ‘Shiksa’ to others. She saved the lives of Jews but Israel has turned it back. My father was a Jew.

If someone’s dad is/was Jewish but the mother isn’t, that’s good enough for me if they want to be a member of the tribe. If someone has a personal epiphany or thoughtful study that leads to this decision, then OK by me.
