Get Up!! when money talks

The Norwegian Government Pension Fund, the world’s biggest sovereign wealth fund, and one of the biggest investors in the coal industry, is divesting from a bunch of fossil fuel companies. One of those companies is Adani Power, part of the massive Indian conglomerate Adani Group that want to build one of Australia’s biggest coal ports on the Great Barrier Reef coastline.

The finances around Adani’s Abbot Point and Carmichael coal mine are looking increasingly unviable, as more and more investors refuse to fund a project that will damage the reef and cause massive climate impacts.

The question now is – when will the big four Australian banks step up and rule out funding Adani too?
